Professor Murder

Building off the use of the term "Long Pig" for serving human flesh, I felt this riff on an old Pork media campaign could be adapted for commercializing cannibalism. "You: It's what's for dinner." We can workshop it.

"If folks are around that area". By American standards, almost all of England is around that area, Bedford being fairly central.

This seems like the appropriate episode for off topic questions: In which episode is the story about loving Dean related? Loving Dean is definitely a central tenet of my faith, but I can't for the life of me recall when our hosts first discussed it. On a similar note, when was the Dollar Whisper club first pitched?

Thanks for the ILF shout, see you there!

I am so ready for Spooky Season. Bring on the scare, man!

Man, some insightful motherfolklores listen to this show. I always get new ideas about the stories from these shows and these comments sections. Been thinking about recruiting new listeners at this mature stage of the show. It would probably be helpful if we developed a list of Essential Studies or some such. If there isn't one already out there, I'd be down to partner up with some Students to develop one.

The Evil Cub

I'm kind of saddened that Chris feels like he can't recommend the Dresden Files, not because of how much he enjoyed them but because of the supposed lack of literary qualities they posses. I firmly believe that enjoyability of the read is a major factor in the quality of the book, perhaps even *gasp!* the suitability of said book to be part of a class syllabus.

A discord for this show. I don’t know how I never thought of it, I use discord daily. I have a horror discord I am a part of (movies) and we do movie watching challenges, streaming movie nights and voice chatting on occasions. It’s just a great place for us horror nerds to talk about horror, And talk about each others taste in horror and how great they are *sarcastic* “HA” This would be a great group to have a discord with . Shared niche interest. And continues the conversation for each show. I would happily help set this up. I need more strange studies of strange stories banter in my life. Tons of utility on discord to engage viewers and bring about more viewership as we can easily invite friends into the channel and can do things like gifting friends subscriptions to the Patreon etc . I have lots of great ideas about this stirring. Just gonna end this too long of a comment and say simply… TLDR: I recommend making a discord as I think it would be great for the show. Would happily help with this

2 comments 1 post, I think I’ve seen this video……. My cousin in law lives in Salem in a beautiful 1818 house that is literally doors down from the house of 7 gables . Can see it from his windows. Salem is misunderstood 11 months out of the year, it’s a bustling very prideful small town with a great local art scene and great food joints. Tons of history here and the locals are very happy to share it with anyone willing to listen.

I read Pebble in the Sky if my own volition back in Jr. High (and am jealous of any secondary school English program that includes any Science Fiction). Honestly I don't remember how good it is, but I think fondly of it, and every other SF book of the era when their titles were inordinately wistful and poetic. Pebble in the Sky, the Caves of Steel, Mote in a God's Eye, I, Robot, Stranger in a Strange Land. I imagine the book cover art popular in the 80s and 90s also has something to do with my slightly melancholic feelings about those titles.

I really like the outro tunes. Is this one on the album that you linked me to last time?

So "Insta-Rice and Teddy grahams" was an admission! Also, I just heard Bram was writing Dracula and I imagined a lively correspondence. Lastly, I think I like the Spotify link; it's MUCH easier to catch the episode I want to than Patreon's feed.

As you mentioned it here, I just want to say that I really loved your coverage of A Creeper in Darkness. I think those crazy, "bad", stories were always some of my favorites from your earlier Lovecraft coverage and something that I was missing a bit. I think my favorite shows were stories that you guys actively hated! I think that gets missed a bit when you are only covering really good, exciting, well-written work. But I can't sit here and tell you to only cover garbage! So keep on being the best show out there (but maybe throw in some crap from time to time)!

Random thought - I think I might have found an earlier jump scare than Cat People, it’s in Haxan a 1922 silent movie which if you haven’t watched is brilliant and would make a good topic for an extras show

Fun story about watching Lake Mungo: My family was out of town for the evening, so I decided to watch Lake Mungo by myself. I sat of my floor so my dog could sleep on my lap. Right at the climax near the end at Lake Mungo, someone pointed a flashlight into a window from my driveway, a few feet from where I was sitting. I screamed. I quickly tried to get up, but found out that... my legs were most definitely asleep. So I fell over. Not just once, like 3-4 times. There's still a flashlight shining in my window, and I am in full freak out mode. It took 2 or 3 minutes for my legs to start working again, and once they did, I went to the door to see what was going on. The interloper, now a safe distance away from me, just wanted to know if they could have a piece of furniture that I had put out for trash pickup. Yeah, I suppose they should have knocked, or they were probably just trying to rob me. Thanks for the movie recommendation :-)
