R8 Book Vote 1: Dead Bodies vs. Giant Squids
- "It's the Last Summer Before College: Wanna See a Dead Body in the Woods?" 32
- "Holy S#!t! A Giant Squid?!?!!1!" 22
In the spirit of the World Cup, I think it's appropriate that Round 1 of voting for this book thing was just a wild free-for-all before settling into something more civilized, like the bracket system. (This poll, organized by FIFA, and Sponsored by Aramco.)
Cast your vote at the bottom -- winner advances to the next round!
(And don't forget to vote on the other three matches, all posted now!)
So, here's the first bracket:
"It's the Last Summer Before College: Wanna See a Dead Body in the Woods?"vs."Holy S#!t! A Giant Squid?!?!!1!"
In this corner, we have have a yarn about three busty best friends who stumble across the timeless question that no childhood is complete without: "Wanna see a dead body in the woods?" The mystery unfolds as our three heroines juggle the angst of parting ways, trees stuffed with exotic substances, and the awkward logistics of being chased by someone who could either be a serial killer, or just some dude who has a Boo Radley thing going on. There's also a scene, probably, where they're running down train tracks, probs in the literary version of slow motion.
In the other corner, get ready for “Holy S#!t! A Giant Squid?!?!!!1!” Where our voluptuous superheroines use their... magical booby powers (sure, why the hell not?) to face down a trans-dimensional kaiju calamity. How many harpoons and tridents constitute "overkill" when the thing trying to eat you has nine brains and a personal vendetta against marinas? An affectionate mockery of every giant-monster story ever told, featuring three unapologetically buxom protagonists in costumes that frankly make no sense to wear when the city is at stake.
