This episode was interesting from the performances I thought were going to be CRAZY to those that were really underwhelming. Idk, it's not looking like they can call this batch the next ZB1 to me! I'm starting to gain preferences from what I'm seeing though, which is cool, some people are showing more chops. The drama was on it in this one eh! Lmk y'all thoughts in the comms!

I agree this years batch look solid but i think the level in season 1 was just outstanding. Also agree that Whiplash is just an extremely hard song to cover and especially for a boy group because Aespa’s sassy vibe is what made the song so great. Guys just dont normally perform like that so although the avengers team had the singing and dancing on lock, they just ended up being sexy and powerful which they did well but it just doesnt hit the same for the song. I think the audience appreciated the other team more for really trying to copy aespas vibes even though they were significantly less skilled. The only exception on sassy energy from the avengers was Yumeki likely because he does choreograph for girl groups and is used to it compared to the others but his part was just too small.

This might be a hot take too but i kinda disliked Geonwoos energy this performance. Of course his skills are one of the best but he feels a bit too intense especially for this song and compared to the rest of the team. Reminds me of the teachers feedback after his first performance about how his intensity and desperation gave the wrong vibe for the song. I didnt really see it back then tbh but i felt it here

I definitely think the Whiplash team 1 was sassier and had more of a sensual and feminine/girl group energy except few members, whereas with 2nd team it felt too masculine and aggressive except, again, few members like Peng Jin Yu, he was definitely more sassy and I loved his energy and felt like he understood the concept the most in team 2. So that’s why I was very confused with the votes since I didn’t feel any aespa energy from team 2. I honestly lowkey feel like they won over half of the audience with their masculine(?) sexiness and ig that made the audience thirsty lol 😅 My favourite performances in order were: Whiplash team 1, Rising Sun team 1 (their performance was sooo good, I felt like I was watching an idol group, there were few mistakes, but overall they delivered. Their performance felt very mature and satisfying, that really shows that age and experience matter a lot), S-Class team 1 and Plot Twist team 2 (they felt more natural with the fresh concept, also vocals were a bit better imo as someone who sings, though I’d say I liked Nian’s rap better)

plot twist team 1 were robbed so hard i hate star creators so much ffs. & by far the best performance was rising sun team 1. the synergy was better & they had much better individual moments. should've been winning team overall imo.

the reason yichen kept disappearing was probably because he was translating for other teams with c trainees since mnet is useless and he has topik level 6 korean :') you can see him in multiple other practice rooms, i think it's really fishy how mnet omitted the reason he kept disappearing considering how he got a similar kind of evil edit during project 7 (he had to translate there as well) which even had a similar thumbnail for drama purposes 💀 if they didn't want to paint him a certain way they could've easily revealed the reason like omg maybe my brother just has diarrhea. i mean that's what i first thought before i went to twitter and everyone was outraged at mnet and pointing out how he wasn't slacking off even knetz are on his sideeee #freeyichen

dannng i lowkey think team 2 for plot twist got it (idk if that varies from this reaction) after watching the full versions - even though i was sad for bo wen and nian. hyunjun was the focal point but lowkey everyone had the concept for team 2. i agree with rising sun best this challenge!

All right I'll do this in batches as per usual: Plot twist one star team definitely pulled it off well. Vocals were there and they gave me the TWS vibe more which is what the all-star team was worried about. The all Star team did great despite not having members that necessarily fit that cute concept. But the one star team did great + had those cuter concept members. If was in the audience I probably would have voted for them. Rising Sun, firstly I'm already judging cuz this is one of my favorite k-pop songs of all time. I'm talking about I watched every live performance of this back in 2004-2005 When it was hard as hell to find online and you are lucky if you got 240p quality. My beloved Jiang Fan killed it with his small part. 🥲 For Yusen he does have nice potential as a vocalist but it's a very hard song. Team 1 I figured there was no chance they wouldn't win even if the only difference was Heng Yu doing main vocal. I hate when they blow out their voices during practice have y'all never heard of vocal rest? What is the vocalist equivalent to marking why can't they do that? But I do think they did better overall. Unless I missed it this is literally the first time they have showed Andrew on camera, like I have seen tweets of people saying "hey there's someone on the voting screen called Andrew does anybody know who the hell that is?" And that's crazy cuz I like his vibe.

Whew these kill the Romeo performances...yikes Zhong Xing - I truly have no interest in over dissecting or hating on him like a lot of people on the internet are. I don't like the attitude at all but more so I'm confused about why he's here. he's expressed multiple times that he doesn't like practicing or working with people so what the deal? Like is being here just to get exposure but ultimately not make the group which could fuel interest in future solo work? Even during the performance he was just clip-farming the whole time. Him aside, The whole thing was all over the place from everyone. The two stars were much better. But the vibe was still off. It doesn't need to actually touch the level of the original to be good enough for this show I guess. None of these performances have really come close to the original but they at least felt prepared.

Whiplash Mnet editing is wild because they didn't even show the part where Kany yelled at Yumeki. Are we supposed to assume she was scolding him for the rehearsal not going well because he put together the team? But if you look at what she was saying in that preview clip it sounded like she was addressing his behavior/performance directly so how would that fit? Also didn't they do a whole teaser at the end of last episode about An Xin not being able to sing his part or something? they make it so obvious when they were planning to edit a storyline one way but changed their gears depending on how they want to portray certain trainees. They finally gave my boy Yoon Min 3 seconds of screen time (him losing was criminal y'all are crazy) Leo was actually my bigger standout here even more than Sangwon but I'm overall still feeling the idea of them both making it into the lineup. This team did well but my main note for this performance is they should have been waaay sassier. You're covering a girl group song get into it. I don't know if this was the reason he stood out to you but the reason Peng Jin Yu stood out for me is because he was giving the energy the song deserved. In fact I think their team had more members overall who weren't concerned about giving masculine energy so even though I don't necessarily think their skills we're much better I believe that's why the individual scores were so close. No it wasn't outstanding but they didn't crash and burn like that kill the Romeo team. I applaud them for just locking in.

I can't believe we only saw three performances last episode and then they crammed seven into this one. Like five and five was right there. No real shocks for me in the final teams that one with the combined scores, maybe the plot twist team just because of the number of popular trainees on the all Star team but honestly they did a great job so I can't argue. I also missed that final survivor live stream because it happened way early in the morning for me and I'm pissed about it. I'll say why next week.

i was never a huge fan of whiplash from aespa, so that didn't bother me at all during the performances. i actually liked team 1's performance more than i ever liked the song before lol

ngl i could watch sangwon perform whiplash for the rest of my life. 😭 he is a star !! his stage presence is no joke ! like he commands attention ! he was born for the stage. to be real with you i loved sangwon performing this song more than i do aespa performing it. 😭 and i love aespa. the whole team ate that performance. they all were great ! ⭐️💕 your entire reaction to the whole zhong xing section had me weak asf. like bro is a menace fr. him throwing the loser sticker then laughing his ass off when they told him to put it back on was pure comedy lmao. the argument he had with bro in the waiting room had me in tears. that boy was not playing with zhong xing. 😭

and unfortunately both zb1 teams disappointed me big time. i don’t know .. like it just felt as if they were just dancing and singing not performing?? i didn’t feel the energy at all. the first time was god awful.

no fr. and i don’t even dislike him either, i actually find him to be hilarious and i see the potential, he has talent !! but it’s like he doesn’t even try. him repeatedly saying as well that he likes “practicing alone.” like this isn’t a show to make a boy group? like. you’ll have to be a team player at some point and actually try to get along with your teammates. the clip farming atp is getting old.

Bit late to the replies on this but I see what you mean when I should’ve watched this first, they didn’t give aespa but maybe cause I also don’t have an attachment to the original song this still gave a sexy vibe, maybe it could’ve been more sassy, and the studio choom deff was better, over all I liked it, Leo and anxin were great vocally, sangwon great confidence as center and everyone else was good, deff yumeki was covered by everyone else and the editing Also andrew comment he’s from Texas lol
