The reason I dont fancy the dub is not just cuz of how much emotion gets lost but also cuz of how they dumb down some of the translations leading to misinformation that seems like retcon when it comes up again later. Iike here kakashi explaining the byakugan vs the sharingan, makes it a point to say that the byakugan is the stronger of the two in terms of “visual” prowess. Not in general. The byakugan gives more vision but the sharingan is still the stronger of the two since it allows the user to do much much more than just see more

Also Im sucker for visual prowess users XD so hyuga and uchiha fights are right up my alley😂 and the hyuga taijustu has always been a favorite of mine. I still remember kids used to be jabbing each other during recess 😭 neji vs hinata is in my top 3 fights of the chunin exams

The scene where all the jonin go down to stop neji is such a meme. People are like the examiner went cuz that is his job, guy went cuz neji is his student, kurenai went cuz hinata is her student, and kakashi was just there for drama 😂

And this is why we have experts like you here to explain any mistranslations when he watches the dub. 😊 I’m biased though cuz just like Anthony said, Naruto is the show I watched on tv coming home from school back in the day. Lol! So despite seeing the whole series in both English and Japanese exactas times, the dub has just always had a special place in my heart.

I always think it’s so funny when they use Naruto’s lacking academic skills (as compared to peers like Sakura) as an opportunity to explain things like the chakra network to us viewers. Lmao! All Hyuga that are born with the Byakugan (means the all seeing white eye) have those same eyes/color. I’d assume Hinata’s might seem like a different color at times because of how expressive she is. And then when they’re actually using their Byakugan, the only difference is the bulging veins around the eyes and the more distinct pupils.

I feel the exact same way, Katie! I've seen some eps with the sub, and I'm usually a sub watcher, but Naruto is one of my few exceptions bc I've only watched the dub growing up and it has a special place to me even if the translations aren't always accurate.

Very happy you switched back to the dub. I personally enjoy the dubbed version more. Not only is it what I grew up on, buuuuut I also think the tones and varieties the English voice actors brought match some of the characters a little better. Then again, that might just be because it's what I was always used to hearing, I don't know. 😅
