Alrighty, after a few requests I figured to give this a shot! Not exactly what I thought this would be based on the contestants mentioned on previous seasons, but looking to see what you guys think so far and interest check as well. Are unpretty rapstar's runtimes as long as BP2/SMTM/Rap:Public?

Any team stick out for you guys here in the cypher?

ahhh man that sucks it seems like they just using the Unpretty Rapstar name to drive some attention... the past two seasons were more akin to something like SMTM

Yeah like Isaac said looks like they are only using the name, the original unpretty rapstar 1&2 was like smtm and this one is basically girls planet/produce 48 with a hip hop twist korea v Japan like produce 48/izone but it does look interesting, Looks like this is there excuse for a girl survival show right away, it has keita from evnnes little sister, i was most likely going to skip unless you actually watch it lol Adding since smtm mention: the new smtm season looks fire with the people applying and the producer lineup

Korea team A definitely stands out to me, especially the second girl. If they wrote all of this themselves then she has serious potention, she has a disgusting flow on that beat

I'm coming at this from a pretty different perspective cuz I never watched the original unpretty rap star but I did know it was pretty different from this concept. For me I'm not disappointed cuz frankly I don't love the smtm/rappublic formats that much to care if this show follows it. A big aspect of this for me is simply that for every three boy group survival shows we even get there's like one girl group show so I always want to at least check them out. The main things that I will be looking for to determine if I watch this show are: * there's an expectation of contestants writing and producing their own stuff * Related to the above, they consistently subtitle the lyrics * I don't need everyone to be a hip hop scholar in the show but I do want to get the sense that there are people there that do their research and don't just take the concept of hip hop as a costume, some of that balance of appreciation and appropriation (that I think smtm can sometimes struggle with) * Last is the normal stuff, are there contestants that I gravitate towards and end up wanting to support. I feel like it's too early to say how many people would watch the show. I don't see it getting a ton of hype but now that boys plan is done I think it'll have a lot to do with how the first episode is received.
