hard watch bro... and i'm not articulate enough to say what i meant...

i was trying not to cry , i've been emo, this didn't help. did not expect that from this.

what i was trying to say: (post ep)

i was trying to say it seems as if the creator of the story is trying to address the sexualization of female characters in anime, and even maybe minors. adding the story that they gave, with the grooming trafficker they handled the delivery in a unique way that let you feel the way that amo could have felt. seeing how all of the adults around her, shaped her to what we met her as... and the grace that the cleaners and even rudo show to her afterwards after learning that was great.

i think it's wild cause even watching the shows i've watched, i've also seen characters in revealing outfits and such and immediately thought they were made that way to appeal to certain types of fans - some of em get me too, shoot. it just flips it on it's head for the first time out of the tens of animes i've watched, there's a reason why it's like that, so you can't just assume.

not sure if i made that clear in my scrambling for words.

I think you're right as far as what the creator was working to do. The creator is a badass looking woman, so I'm sure she chose to do this for a number of reasons. I think we see this concept a lot across different animes, but was a really unique way to bring awareness to the issues of trafficking, various forms of abuse, and some of the consequences and the long lasting effects that it has on the victims that have to endure it all. Will never stop crying over how incredible this art style is and all the techniques they're using to pull emotions from their viewers! 🥹

i get what you're saying and i agree mostly i suppose. but at the same time, "addressing sexualization of female/minor characters" by doing exactly that is... a choice? i guess? let me try to get these thoughts out in a way that makes sense, sorry lol weirdos are still going to be into amo's character for what it is on the surface. imo the way her character is designed ABSOLUTELY IS to appeal to "certain fans"... no matter what reasoning they give in the backstory. maybe if they change her character design a bit going forward, or i guess more so not have her in the fanservice type shit like last episode anymore, then i would see the vision a bit more. (having her be overly sexualized last episode, straight into the backstory this episode, does in a way feel like a jab to anyone who not only was brushing her off like you said. but also the type who like the fanservice - of minors....) but if they keep the fanservice going, because THAT audience still wants to see it, and the creators know that - what does that mean for the message they tried to create this episode? idk i'm conflicted & not sure how to feel about all of it. i guess we'll see. i hope my rambling made some sense but anyways, i like amo's character writing. she's interesting & complex for sure. the childish drawing stylistic choice was tragically beautiful. i was unfortunately fucking SPOILED on a large chunk of the angel plot 😡 i'm really excited to see it happen though lmao might as well read the manga atp though

i totally get your point! i haven’t read the manga myself so im interested to see what they do with amo’s character. the fan service for amo last ep didn’t really surprise me (it’s an anime 🥴 but i feel like after her backstory it’d be off if they continued it? but at the same time i wouldn’t be surprised if they did
