Lil Boi was the main director of this album. When he joined H1ghr music, he wanted to make a project with all the members. He came up with the name Purple Tape by mixing their two previous projects, Red Tape and Blue Tape, and also took inspiration from ASAP Yams' interview talking about Purple (bringing new colour and style to New York). They discussed whether to have the old H1ghr members feature in some of their songs, but later decided not to, wanting to first make a project with only the current H1ghr members and build chemistry. They did, however, say they are open to collab with old members in future projects. It was great to see Big Naughty rapping again because he got a lot of slack from the hip-hop community after releasing his joint album with Kid Milli. But really unfortunate to see how Big Naughty handled the most recent situation. I think his career may be over, at least within the hip-hop scene :(.

i loved the purple tape & sik k's (& big naughty's) new albums so yes to both lol. i went into listening to the purple tape worried about the lack of people you'd want to see on a h1ghr album & doubtful, but it's probably my favorite album this year so far.
