Ok. one I can catch from the beginning…this was an interesting weird one to get back into giving anime another try🤣 I will say that. As a non smoker myself I forget cigs are drugs still and people get withdraws. The Background characters not having facial feature until up close shots made me laugh🤣 the cat design is cool.

I can see how jarring it can be going into it blind for sure! I'm just now starting the second one with y'all and yeeeaaaahhh, what I heard seems to be checking out. 😂😂 I saw the first episode drop on Netflix and was like "Huh.. that's an interesting title. I might have to check it out at some point." Then about 3 or so days later I kept coming across all these posts that people in Japan were boycotting the show and saying that it was just too disgusting for them the watch and enjoy. And honestly, it intrigued me even more, but I was trying to get one of my coworkers to watch it before me and let me know how bad it really was. Needless to say, I was still waiting on that day, until you dropped this! So I'll just watch this with y'all instead. 😂 I also saw a video breaking the intro to the series down and explaining where each of the scenes depict and represent different pieces of cinema that I found to be really cool. Maybe check it out if you ever decide to watch the intro and are curious about it. I'm kind of into how different it is so far just in relation to my typical anime taste. Totally disgusting and out of pocket, but like you were saying, it's VERY real. I'm not a smoker or a dabbler of the drugs either, but I do/have know/known a few addicts and it's really a spectrum when it comes to the things that they won't do to get their fix. I've also seen people comparing the main character to the general person with depression. I think we can all relate to this and the state of her home when you look at it through that lens. Everything is chaotic and an absolute mess, including herself, and she's definitely struggling to keep anything that should be a typical routine up for herself and her hygienic wellbeing. Granted, everyone is different and not everyone's situation is this drastic, but the majority of us, I think, have dealt with this imagery and concept in some form.
