This YouTube web series is so fun, it originally was a member of btobs web series exploring schools and its majors but Kai took over not too long ago, still just as funny and interesting to see how things are run, also very not serious lol It’s funny that haon dropped out of school for rap and now he’s back at a school for rap lol I’ve heard origin stories of both the hand down clothes from the poorer communities and it bled to hip hop but also heard the prison one was more accurate, so maybe it’s a misconception people still believe Yang hong won used to go by young B you might’ve heard or seen his music a long time ago if I remember It still surprises me how many majors there are in Korea but I guess it makes sense, being a music major you can major it all types of music, why not hip hop lol I heard there’s a few that do in the US as well Wooooooow KP lol I guess that makes sense since he’s school aged, go to school for moms or something but major in hip hop So I didn’t know suda/suda man/Sudachaengie the professor here but when I looked it up he debuted around the same time as chaboom, mostly underground rapping but became famous for his chatter style back then and founded the underground rap varsity tournament with chaboom, so maybe OG s do know him lol I get you I think the idea that we have of rap and its history feels like it equates differently but why does education equate to lesser for hip hop if we say like someone educated in musical genres like jazz or classical is elevated, you could have someone with a musical degree in like band stuff and do punk music for example And with countries like Korea that really focus on education it makes sense like I said with KP he’s young you don’t know what he really wants to do but maybe he’s pushed to education and wanted to do something that like any artist may not make sense to us but he gets and education but still gets to pursue the music he likes and also it’s an art school with emphasis on music so I’m sure he gets to learn and use a bunch of musical tools like when I was in art school I got use a lot of different art stuff I think the idea just sounds crazy for us just because it’s not normalized here, this is less but back then when I was younger I remember hearing that perusing arts wasn’t worth it, fashion majors for example, but hey things change overtime Also I feel maybe a slight disconnect from this type of education where you learn history and styles and what not compared to idol trainees that maybe taught in a factory made setting of certain robotic do this type of rap styles, but that also doesn’t mean these underground rappers don’t also dislike educated rappers like KP lol maybe I got too serious with that lol but hey funny show and a bit educational I was thinking I thought I remembered some of these faces like the red haired guy lol they must’ve gotten eliminated either the first or fire pit round with a quick mnet edit ( oh shoot the fu7i guy was one of the Highschool rappers shown with millimax, eliminated right away) And Oop everything I said kinda gets explained later on lol

Jeongwaja is currently at season 9 and hosted by Kai but the first 5 seasons were hosted by Changsub of BTOB and it was just as funny. The concept is that he joins different departments/clubs in universties each ep, attends lectures, does work, makes friends, interviews and usually has celeb guests. I havent watched it but Ik he has an ep with Cortis and ur fan of them, Ive seen clips and it was cute. I am Kai biased so this is my fav idol variety content currently lol

I was also very confused when Haon talked about the origin of sagging, it seemed like he was trying to sugarcoat it idk. I did grow up hearing it started in prison but not because of belts. I always heard it was bc some men in prison would sag their pants when they wanted to show other men submission or that they were ready for them lol. The belt does make sense too tho. Also heavily agree about the existence of this as a major that you can get credits and graduate with like thats crazy, it would be fine if it was a middle/high school club but this... totally takes the authenticity out of the genre which is why they hate idol rappers. Kinda funny too since alot of washed up rappers do end up training idols

Also crazy I remember haon being on smtm 6 it was hyped up then immediately edited out when he was eliminated and I forgot about it as it went on lol I only knew soul dive because of smtm mentions and k rappers saying they were legendary lol Gotta watch the cortis one I haven’t seen it but heard it’s just as good lol

nah dude that's a fair perspective, i feel like we could have a good conversation about that! you made some interesting points, especially with the read of hip hop v. other genres having education around those being elevated etc. interesting lol. Definitely remember a handful of these faces, what a small world.

Yeah, they need to go ahead and stop this hip-hop major thing😂. Now I’ve always heard sagging came from prison as well, but for a different reason. from what I would hear it was had to deal with “grape”👀 my granddad has history being in prison and anytime he seen boys sagging he’d always say to them, “you know what that means right, it’s basically you asking them to do u know what to you as why else would u want to be showing people ur butt” and he’d tell them pull it up so fast 😂 But also whatt, he participated in smtm s6… yeah they completely scraped him from existence on that season that is still one of my favorite seasons till this day and I don’t recall a peek oh him there.
