I've written a short summary of this post already on Discord for the Goblins and Quatermasters but I felt this should be a standalone post here as well.

Scroll down if you are only interested in the features that are part of the party system.

What's the progress?

As most of you know, I'm working on adding a Party system to TA, that can be used in GMG and will also be the base for the Inventory Extension. The last couple of months have been mostly planning and testing different systems. I do this to make sure that the system I end up chosing is stable and flexible so it works well but does support adding features I don't have the time to add in version 1.

Since last week I settled for an integration and did all the ground work to get the programming part. This means basically writing all the function definitions and doing all the database setup so now "only" the programming logic is missing.

I ended up writing about 50 different API endpoints. This is a lot but it was mostly done to keep the endpoints concise which makes the integration simpler.

What's next?

Now that I have all the different endpoints I also have the structure and functionality of the Party system laid out. My plan is to at least implement 2 endpoints a day, so that I'll be done with the Backend Logic in 3-4 weeks. This should be realistic depending on how much sleep the kids allow me to have at night.

After the Backend I'll start adding the Features to Tabletop Almanac and once I'm done, I'll give Goblins and Quartermasters access to it. They'll probably find a few bugs and help me iron out the usability while I'm also working on the GMG integration.

The plan is to be ready with a beta in 2 months and finally release it in 3 months.

What features are you gonna add?

First, you'll be able to add a party (or multiple parties). You'd probably use a party for an adventuring group. You can give it a name and also define a default group for GMG so tokens of that party automatically get put into this group everytime they are loaded and the party is active.

Each party has its own inventory, which consists of items and money. Party members can put money or items into the inventory or take money and item out of the inventory. This will be done directly in GMG and can be done by the players directly. There for there will also be a Log for the GM, to ensure nobody takes anything they shouldn't.

More importantly though a party holds a collection of statblocks. These statblocks can be defined as "characters" which will enable certain features for them (e.g. item consumption). They can also be assigned to other Tabletop Almanac users. This will allow those users to edit the statblock from within TA.

Also if one or more statblocks in a party is an imported DNDB Character you can sync them with a single click instead of doing it for every character.

And?

Well there will be other stuff as well, let me know in the comments what you think shouldn't be missing.

Josh
