Wreath for 90! Can you believe we only have 10 left? In this video we not only learn to paint a fall inspired wreath, but I also talk about my wreath making formula which I will have listed below. This one doesn't have any wet into wet parts that you need to work fast on, but there are a lot of trust the process moments as you build up the layers, textures and colors. I can't wait to see how you do with this one! Please let me know if you have any questions.

Wreath formula:

Start with a circular guide - watercolor or pencil

Paint your biggest elements first - make sure they are randomly spaced

Medium value main leaf - adds curve and bulk, leave space for more elements to come

Small contrast - an element that balances out the first large element - not a leaf

Texture - through leaves, flowers or other objects. This element adds volume and more shape

Dark leaf - contrast, tucks in to help connect everything

Build shape, texture, and contrast until everything feels balanced

Now add the stems and sticks to connect all of the elements - tuck them in and out of the wreath for more shape

Finish with any other details coming out of the wreath to balance shape

Add a ribbon, a bird, an "extra element" or a background to finish!

Paper: arches 140 lb cotton 9X12" paper that I've cut into 3X3" pieces, giving me 12 pieces per page.

Paint: The palette I'm using today is the split primary palette by letter sparrow: cad yellow deep, lemon yellow, cad red, magenta, ultramarine blue, cerulean(probably closer to phthalo blue), indigo and sap green. I don't use all the colors, but I will name them as I mix them. Feel free to use pre mixed convenience colors as well.

Brushes: round 4 - Princeton brand
