Hi Everyone, I've seen a lot of questions about what December and 2027 will look like so here's a few more details that will help clear things up.

There are only 5 paintings scheduled for December to bring our total to 100 tiny paintings for the year - ending on December 15th.

The last two weeks of December will be your chance to catch up, slow down around the holidays and work on a few end of the year projects if you wish.

The end of the year project ideas will be announced as we get closer to December, but it will involve looking back on the year revisiting some of our past paintings.

For those asking: the 2026 tiny painting series will not be leaving patreon. You will be able to access all 100 videos on the collections tab at any time as long as you're a member as well as the previous 2025 year. No stress about completing before 2027! You could even join us with the new 2027 series and jump back to 2026 if you need more to work on, whatever you prefer.

Looking forward into 2027 and January:

I will be posting the outline for 2027 at the end of the week. This new watercolor year will involve topics for each week like flowers, bugs, fruit etc. as well as a few other fun elements I'm excited to tell you about! I am currently putting together the topic list for 2027, so if you have any ideas for topics you want to see next year, please list them below!

At the end of December I will put out a list of supplies and materials you will need for the coming year (not much different than what we use now).

I hope this clears up a lot and helps us all be on the same page. Please let me know if you have any other questions!

❤️Kristin

Thank you Kristin, and excited to look forward to 2027 already !! (And appreciate the “relaxed” timeline for December :)) - I don’t know if these would fit the “elements” definition but some things on my wishlist : clouds, sunset/rise/sunrays, under water, reflections, how to paint glass/translucent things …. Etc etc

Katherine

Thanks Kristin, love the ideas for 2027 theme. Perhaps berries and vines, including bittersweet, and or trees, birds....some thoughts!

Cherith

I would love some focus to be on clouds, translucent things, mirrored effects.

Christina Rodriguez

Parasaurolophus, Axolotl, elephant, frogs, unicorn, flamingo, bears and wolves. I'm so happy you are continuing this series in 2027!

Heidi Borgwardt

Very excited! I'm never caught up with anything 😆 but I'm choosing not to worry about it, and just paint as much as I can 🫶 Topics I'm interested in/struggle with: -Buildings -People -Combined buildings and landscapes and people -Animals -loose colorful interpretations of animals and people (easier for me in other mediums) And always interested in: -Flowers -Landscapes -Birds -Fruits and other foods -realism -loose atmospheric Also, always appreciate that you cover ways to approach sketching things out

marielle

I was hoping the 2027 theme would be more topical than technique-based! Wishes really do come true :) Flowers, bugs and fruit sound great and I'd also love to do more birds and other animals, as well as landscapes.

Toni

Perhaps skies as a topic. I struggle so much with skies

I am reposting my comments from Chat over here, which seems like the appropriate place! I'm painting birds lately and finding it difficult to do so without ending up cartoony/overly cutesy (especially after adding the eyes) I don't mind cute but want to be able to go slightly less cutesy if that makes sense

harmonywho

Well on further thought.... Eyes (non insect, non human, non fish eyes [so birds and mammals I guess]). I struggle with eyes. (Except I insects and fish, and I don't f with humans yet).

Melinda

thank you ! would love more paintings w PEOPLE

Melinda

will 2027 be tiny paintings as well?

Becky Dearing

I would love sweet treats: cookies/cake/ice cream as a category. I love painting food with you!

harmonywho

I would like architectural ELEMENTS .... Picturesque doors, windows, stair railing, Maybe even furniture ... An attractive chair, an architectural lamp.

Maura

Kristin, so excited for 2027, I really love the idea of doing 4 items that are similar (for framing possibilities) so maybe two weeks on a theme even? I’m thinking thatched roof cottages like in rural England, David Winter has a series of them as curio items each unique, or 4 different antique jalopies, 4 sailing boats from different cultures, 4 different Fungi… I could share more, but I think that’s enough from me😉

Melody

Musical instruments. They are so beautiful. Guitars (acoustic/electric), violins, cellos, pianos, flutes and other woodwinds, trumpets, French horns and other brass.

Erin T

Instruments, books, buildings

Chris

Thank you Kristin! This has been a fabulous journey and I'm all in for 2027. I've learned so much painting along and know that next year will be even better! Would love to explore more nature - animals, landscapes, water, ice. Thank you, thank you!

Vicki

what about if you do a tutorial on a topic, which we all do, then post a reference photo ( same topic but different picture) and we all try to replicate the new pic with the techniques we learned in the first one. I feel like after a year of following tiny paintings I need to find the nerve to branch out and do more on my own with what I have learned but its not easy.

Robyn McKenzie

Topics sounds wonderful! My wish list- *Perspective ( 1 point, 2 point, aerial) *Sculptural/architectural elements *Inserting figures into a painting *underpainting (I know this is a technique) *realistic botanicals that require truly transparent rendering as well as lifting for veins and highlights *how to approach a subject with an eye toward simplifying (deciding what to include and what to exclude) *how to compose a still life *how to compose a landscape *shadows *reflections *how to paint a metallic object (a tea pot, for example) *more glass objects! I’m sure whatever you choose will be instructive and fun! Can’t wait!!

Pam

Wow, topics for each week! That’s 52🙂🙂How fun!!

Jennifer Nichols Art

Please don't make us splatter masking fluid ever ever again 😂😂😂

Pam

Instruments! Great idea , Erin🙂

Johanna

Thank you Kristen for another fabulous painting tinies year! I have learned and grown so much! I want to learn and grow more but don’t know how. Maybe you could talk about that. Also I would love to do more line sketches of buildings and paint them. Want to understand 2d when drawing buildings, windows, doors etc.

Susie

I would enjoy doing more animals like horses, tigers, lions, pandas, and koalas in their habitats.

Cinnimin

You know I’m going to ask for more birds! You could do the 7 wonders of the world/historic locations for arch/perspective It scares me but more people in an active scene Tiny animals/dogs Sea creatures/fish Fables Decades - something that represents a different decade 20s, 40s, 50s 70s etc. Iconic movies

Julie Patterson

I've read everyone's suggestions and I want to back up having a go at metallic objects and different fungi. Also love your suggestions of fruit, bugs etc. Love doing anything really, so I don't know why I'm even posting!

Janneke Puijk-Schuffelen

I would love to see animals, specifically furry animals like forest animals, or animals in the water like whales and dolphins (or crabs, octopuses, fish etc. I'm behind so not sure which ones have already been treated) I also love the idea of bugs and butterflies!

Steve

Hi Kristin. It’s been a great year. Suggestion: stormy skies and bleak landscapes. I love the flowers and cute animals but need a break now and then.

Alicia

Yes and…..when we are learning together on the first painting and analyzing the inspo photo, what are the elements that are considered and the painting techniques that could bring them to life so when we get to our new inspo picture and go to paint on our own we have some experience in the planning process.

Manuela

Iconic movie-inspired series. Book-inspired series. Around-the-world series, like specific city landmarks or iconic sites/objects from different countries. Architectural elements, such as vintage lampposts, traditional doors and windows, etc. Besides, fungi, trees, flowers, fruit, vegetables. Animals and food in general. Pottery, crockery, bone china pieces (I've seen paintings of Chinese vases and Japanese kintsugi vases to die for). I could go on forever 😅😅😅

Shirley

I just did a workshop using only a palette knife to create paintings. So fun!! Might be a good topic.

Amy Avocado

So many great ideas. Pottery/glass, books, animals/bugs (narwhal! cicada!) botanicals, something with lace!, fables/fantasy like castles and unicorns

Judith

I love your teaching style. You really are teaching technique. So excited for 2027! I want to put my Vit in for frogs as well. lol

Reen Allysa

i would love to see more atmospheric landscape paintings, seascape, beachside, and lakes, with boats and ships

Susan Pintar

I enjoy learning the techniques and how to analyze an inspiration image much more than concentrating on a particular animal or object.

Jackie10573

Oh, forgot, can we delve into granulating paints!

Katherine Briggs

Birds! I love them so much but they are challenging for me. I’d love a whole month of practice.

Sarah Blosser

Thought/idea for 2027 paintings. Not sure if anything exists, as someone who does both acrylic and watercolor, acrylic has many options for medium that paints can be mixed with to change characteristics of the paint. Are there options for watercolor to change characteristics such as add a shine/shimmer or give physical depth. What options are there for using watercolor in mixed media other than using as a background and adding other medium on top. Not sure if this makes since but something i have wondered about

Heidi Cowan

I've followed you for a while but have been too scared to actually try painting anything.... For a total newbie, do you have painting or a suggested best place to begin?

Denise Flinn

Repeating what I noted in the general posts. I still struggle with trees and leaves. Mine just don’t look real. I would love to get more guidance on painting people similar to the painting we did in 2025 of the man and woman walking in the park and maybe more on animals (cats, dogs, monkeys, etc). Still learning so much. Can’t thank you enough, Kristin. Your expertise, guidance and teaching style have been invaluable. So happy I stumbled onto your site 2 years ago. 😊 🎨
