So I’ve seen the show LOST 5 times and was a big fan of “the first time show” on headgum where they rewatch lost. It’s an awesome show, and a lot of the backlash came from casual sci-fi viewers who weren’t expecting a more spiritual ending. Fair enough I guess, but I loved it. Good to hear Murph defend it.

Oh, if you thought "Lost" was weird and a little unsatisfying, try watching "1899" (same creators, but a more recent show). It's a show that starts off with a very diverse cast trapped aboard an immigrant ship heading for the New World, each one with a secret and a mysterious backstory. Each episode opens with another member of the cast having a bit of their dark, period-appropriate history revealed. But is there something supernatural going on? Why are people covering up the mystery of the missing sister ship? Who is the boy with the tattoo? Why can only some people hear the ticking? Does the French courtesan know more than she's letting on? Does the doctor know the stow-away? What is the French Foreign Legionnaire's illness? Don't worry, the concluding episode will answer nothing, add a whole bunch of new stuff that is meant to feel like a big reveal (though, without any lead-up, it's not a reveal, it's a course correction) and be really smug about it.

Oh lordy, this is taking me back to my post-rewatch stint of helping explain when/how Lost resolved all the oft-mentioned mysteries. People who know the time-skewed parts of the show extremely well have very different convos & quibbles about it than partial/casual viewers.

This just reminded me of how cursed my breaking bad experience was. My HS boyfriend insisted we watched the S5 Premiere together but I was only on S3 so I spent the day before the premiere binging S4 and it got to the point where I’d read the synopsis and watch the highlights. I’m not exaggerating when I tell you he broke up with me the next day - the day of the premiere. We had been together 3 years. LOL
