Ben Perry

Another glorious 'sode. Well done dallif jake

Crnlstache

Last episode was so fun! Really looking forward to more episodes in this amazing world

Geraint

Loooove the cumpatriots, so carnal

Murf'nLurph

These have all been amazing so far! I can't wait for the next episode

Declan Konesky

It was a dangerous drive this morning bc of all the laughing! I love this campaign ..this very full length campaign I hope

Jay Barber

Skaldova is quickly becoming one of my favorites. You should be very proud Jake!!

Jessica

I am very much anticipating hearing more from this campaign. Jake's narration is so good! He's doing a great job as a DM too.

Jonathan

Emily’s gohan hate is crazy

Joe Howard

Can’t believe we have to wait a whole two weeks for the next episode. I’m not built for being caught up to date lol, I’ll have to relisten to the first episode another time

Rachel Shoshanna

deeply relatable to not even really consider breaking the rules of the home computer 😅😂 also seconding caldwell's comment about jake's descriptions, theyre soooo evocative

Jake de Medeiros

Skaldova has breathed new life into this show! Honestly! I’m feeling the electricity/excitement to listen that I felt back in 2018 when the show first began.

Clever Innuendo

I can get through my valentines shift a little happier knowing I have this for my ride home. Love ya'll

Mortimer Lunch

I have bad news for Murph… owning a wallet at all makes you a millennial regardless of the size. 🫠

Murf'nLurph

I feel the same way every time they start a new campaign, lol

Joe Moore

It's not a technicality - the Saiyan saga starts with Raditz, he's entirely within it. Justice for Jake!

Proopypants

Happy Valentine's day to us, the naddpoles

Geraint

Don't come in, I'm googling bulma.com in the carnal corner

Chrys

Absolutely fucking hilarious episode

Katie P.

I absolutely love how different this feels from all the other campaigns, like same silliness but it feels very Bright Sword. Love the new crew and this setting is gorgeous!

Viv

if murph is our dungeon daddy, caldwell is our dungeon uncle aka duncle, and emily is our dungeon docent, i propose that jake is our dungeon auteur aka daughter

JD Crom

As a member of Gen Z I can confirm that I asked for a "thinner wallet" for Christmas this past year

Sand Panda

A Genever's glove to this episode.

Adam

35 and just this morning I was looking into thinner wallets on Amazon to replace my Costanza behemoth lol

Hugo Wull

I’d give up a lot before I ever surrendered my millennial wallet!

Sascha

Murph said it with so much confidence that I questioned myself. But yeah, he's wrong. Let him drown.

Christopher Lasasso

I had the exact same experience as Caldwell with googling digimon and figuring out the card game was a separate thing. For years I would be like "you guys don't understand there's an Agumon X," to blank stares

A.J.

murph say "my wallet is giving skinny queen" that'll really hit with the kids

Professor Pratt

Truly, there are no words that convey my love for this podcast. The four of you bring such joy and the community we have created proves that love, humor, and a little murder can keep us sane. I feel sorry for the people who have not found this community. I’ve said a million times and I’ll say it til my dying breath: thank you thank you thank you. I love you like my children!!!!

Mary Reynolds

Twelve year old me was very skilled at sneaking out of my bedroom at night to play games on the family computer. One night after midnight, I couldn’t sleep and wanted to play the Sims. I executed a perfect stealth mission past my parents’ bedroom into the family room…only to find my mom on said computer playing the Sims, having snuck out of her bedroom without waking up my dad. We stared at each other for a minute, agreed to never speak of this again, and went back to bed.

Spencer Bloom

The first website I went on was pokemon.com legit by being like I like pokemon, that should work. I feel so seen. Also it blew my mind that I could just look up pokemon at any time (barring phonecalls).

Michael Singer

MURPH the first episode of dragon ball Z marks the first episode of the SAIYAN SAGA no MURPH THIS CANT BE A CANNON EVENT

🐧lost penguin familiar

You know what's surprising is that rules as written, "conditions don't stack on you". I think it doesn't make sense. But maybe it only applies to players but enemies can have multiple conditions. Don't believe me, look it up in the PHB.

Anna Sun

I definitely thought you pronounced Vegeta like the beginning of vegetable until my twenties. I was also convinced he was the green one.

Old Dirty Blastoise

The beginning of this episode takes me back. Back before parents knew about the History feature on web browsers.

Zaxbeez

MURPH THE HATERS ARE SNACKING THEYRE SNACKING MURPH MUUUURRRRRPPPHHHH

David Lipscomb

Murph and Emily both mispronounce Naruto every time they say his name. Even though it's pronounced in the show

Ralphward

Murph what are you talking about. How is Raditz, the first explicitly described saiyan, who introduces what saiyans are, not part of the saiyan saga?

Zachary Armstrong

Have they had conversations about using the internet as children before? I had major deja vu during that segment and thought I was going crazy 😅

aiyana graham art

"it's giving" is not just gen z, it's also gay. I would not bat an eye at a 40 year old gay man telling me "it's giving advantage"

Max Herzog

The power creep in DnD is no joke, don't be afraid to beef up your monsters HP Jake ;)

Suzanna DePeri

Theres an 8 bit book club where vegeta.com is discussed

Simon Hughes

people literally will jerk off for hours at a time, if you want a good laugh check out r/gooning, you will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy

Jeffrey Steck, Lord of the Fjord

Em, ‘This is how I work’ is a key element that powers your authentic creativity and peerless talent. Fortunately ‘Your shitty life’ has brought much joy to my shitty life and countless others for many years.

Leah S.

Back in the day I would download anime with fan subtitles. I also remember typing in random words for websites.

Clever Innuendo

Don't let most of the Bon Freres hear that crank talk

The Grinch (feral)

As a gen z-er, I was having a conversation with my boyfriend yesterday about our “comfort millennials”, and this podcast 100% at the top of the list lmfao. Also I rarely take my wallet with me most days bc I just tend to use Afterpay, and don’t drink or drive so I don’t need my id most of the time either, and also have a picture saved somewhere just for emergencies

evan aka the super cockler

personally as gen z i have a huge wallet filled with coin and receipt. rewards cards like youve never seen.

Toblerone. jpg

villainy?? sure it’s debauchery but i wouldn’t go that far

Toblerone. jpg

and before that it was aave, the cycle of american lingo

aiyana graham art

I mean it's not that it "was" aave, it still is, but there is obviously still a relationship there to queer culture. black and queer culture are not discreet categories; it's an appropriation of black queer culture entirely, not either or. I was thinking of a very specific black gay man when I wrote this comment lol, I just didn't think it was fully necessary to dissect the appropriation of black queerness in youth or "gen z culture" in the naddpod patreon comments section

Agents of DAMNED

What saga was Raditz a part of if not the saiyan saga? He introduced the concept of saiyans.

Toblerone. jpg

yeah i was just adding on to the whole, “this isn’t just one thing”, language gets cycled so much, and it’s so hard to keep track of

Steenbeek

No one in my outside life would understand this but I had shrimp scampi for the first time last night at this moderately fancy restaurant and all I could think about was the Barron from Eldermorne and tbh I think it improved the experience

Jade

The show starts with the Saiyan saga. Raditz is the beginning of the Saiyan saga.

Swaff

Me, a gen z person who lost my very slim wallet yesterday 👀

Benjamin P Parson Gomberg

I don’t see anything about it changing for 2024 edition, it appears to be the same as it’s always been: multiple instances of the same condition do not stack. If they have different conditions then they both apply. Prone is separate from grappled, so they both could affect the same creature. Or for another example, you can be paralyzed by something like “Hold Person,” but that won’t stop something from poisoning you. You can be exhausted, and still get frightened by a fear effect. If you get Blinded, it’s not going to stop you from also being Unconscious if you run out of hit points. Stacking different conditions on an enemy is a good debuff if you are having trouble doing damage. Knock ‘em down prone and grapple them has been a tried and true method of battlefield control for the length of 5e.

Tara

All over beautiful ep as usual! Just came in to say that i was surprised anyone would take the side of the scared monks in terms of helping them keep the secrets of the black lace. It's basically medicine right? So it's not like they're hoarding the secret of how to make your tea taste better. Them keeping the secret of black lace leads to ppl dying. They're basically big pharma

Smol

I liked when you talked how "magical" abilities work in Skaldova, it makes me think of LotR where magic is rarely tangible but still has some influence. Sam might also appear large while storming orcish tower, strengthened by elven light.

Ben Ramirez

At a little place... called Mangia's 😂

TiredHoneyBadger

I jumped before the bullet and googled bulma.net, unfortunately I can’t read Spanish very well but it seems like huff post-esque techy news website.

Ben Ramirez

To all of you jumping on to correct the Saiyan Saga start point, we can't give you a point unless you say "Um, actually"

Miranda B, Crick DVM

HUGE rose for the name “Lila.” That’s my puppy’s name. I originally named her after Izzy’s character in Burrow’s End, but now she’s got a NADDPOD tie too.

Nikolaus Cox

Welly’s order has huge crusader energy. The Broken Oar fits right in next to Templars and Hospitallers. Both those orders started out guards of holy sites in Jerusalem (a church and a hospital for pilgrims, respectively), and increasingly became influential militant orders caught up in their own mythos and power-playing. Also there’s a lot of fanart online of knightly orders for women inspired by the traditional knightly orders of Europe, while the Sisters of Battle in Warhammer 40K are also just that but grimdark in space. So Welly’s character and background are PERFECT both narratively and for the world Jake is creating.

AXWH

CRUISIN GEOCITIES ANGELFIRE TRIPOD ON DA HOME DESKTOP AT 1AM the holy trinity of 90s DBZ fan sites!!!! Its like you guys pulled a memory directly out of my head

EvSeaMoon

Love love love that the fire rune is for the God that medals with humanity. It immediately made me think of Prometheus in greek myth. Can't describe how much I'm into this setting and campaign, Jake is doing such an amazing job!

xatlern

The conversations about early internet culture are such a throwback. In order to get on the Internet on the computer I shared with my brother you had to literally run a cord into my parents bedroom, there was no getting online without my parents knowing unless they were fully out of the house.

Ziel R.

The whole "Process Grief as a Bonus Action" but got me really good.

The Daddening

Men need to support one another. Cast a glance and compliment next time at the urinal "Nice rod, solid rod" my guy.

DJSPEKT

I like the carnal crew. But cumpanions is peak

Teo Tamashiro-Harris

I just have to say that I love that Emily's categorising of Batman movies is "the Michelle Pfeiffer Batman" and not "the Michael Keaton Batman"

Milton Villegas

Tiny L for Murph for saying Raditz is not in the Saiyan saga the haters are feasting on this tiny W

Jordan J N.

Murph’s voice crack voice is everything to me

spiffygrooves

If ur puppy is the dog in ur profile pic then that’s truly the perfect name. Such a cute dog!!!!

Marniekins

I BEG you to do the dragon ball one shot.

Noah James Perito

Hearing Murph say “giving” is really transformative

Noah James Perito

I think they’re alive and they just ditched him 😟

Robert Smith

This might have been said already but Wellie is a bit like a horny version of a sister of battle from Warhammer 40k and I'm so here for it.

Nikolaus Cox

Interesting to hear Caldwell say he has a thorn for brushing off how the Buds died. Because in Episode 1 he described returning to a campsite covered in blood and bodies, and in Episode 2 he described finding an abandoned campsite covered in debris from a fight, but no trace of his buds. All of this can be chalked up to Boggy repeatedly obfuscating to protect himself from thinking too deeply on a tragic day - but it’ll be interesting to see how Caldwell in-episode begins to canonise the incident in the campsite of the buds. Was it just a brutal, wholesale slaughter with some prisoners later executed, or will the whereabouts of the Buds become a mystery in and of itself?

Amanda M

It’s giving carnal release

Nitzan Harel

Bulma.com is up for grabs btw 👀

Simon Hughes

I'm quoting Star Wars, calm down

jennos

It is so funny hearing them be like "we're speaking Gen Z" when "giving" has been around since early Ballroom days 🤣

Lou

If people like the idea of a scavenger thrift store, they should visit Hunt and Gather in Minneapolis. It’s a vintage store that has some of the most intriguing collection of items I’ve ever seen.

Totally Offside

I love each new entry in the "Emily doesn't realize you could just break the rules as a kid" saga.

CoraxArtifex

"Cumpatriots" crew name FTW!

nathanKmcWilliams

Oh wow that conversation about 90s Internet usage took me back lol. I was homeschooled and was alone while my parents were at work so I'd just time my Internet usage so the dial-up connection wouldn't betray me when they tried to call and check on the landline haha

Zanya Nova

Remember that time when Jake confessed he had nerves about starting NADDPOD season 1 because he was worried about "when they'll find out in not smart"? Yeah, thinking about that after hearing him DM is WILD.

Stations & Starships

I am glad we (mostly) all share a similar past with early internet 🌐

Helen✨

A fun fact about the phrase “giving”, it stems from Black, queer Ballroom culture! so much of our current slang has been co-opted from Black drag queens and trans women (‘giving’, ‘serving’, ‘slay’, calling people mother or queen, using cunty as a compliment)

Johnny Clifton

Um actually, Raditz is the villain that kicks off the Saiyan Saga. So he's definitely in it.

k.allen

Emily we are the same. "What do you mean you did something your parents told you not to"

Ilana Galpert

am i crazy or did they have this conversation about sneaking around at night already because i'm 99% positive they have

Adam Blacharski

I’m happy to know all the dbz fans are correcting Murph. He clearly was thinking of the namek/frieza saga

alyssa

It was just me and my sister at our house, but our dad was into computers so we actually always had a computer in our room pre internet, and that didn’t change when internet came out, my dad got a second line for us to be able to be on the internet without blocking the phone line. I spent hours and hours in chat rooms, doing whatever I wanted. At some point each of us had a computer in our rooms. When I was real little I knew dos commands, played with kidpix, Carmen San Diego. Then it was chat rooms with aol, then aim and just chatting my friends, but totally unrestricted. But we also stayed off porn sites and stuff because a. We were like dang you’re a loser if you need porn, and b. We thought you were an idiot if you loaded your computer with viruses. Even when we were downloading discographies from limewire we were hyper vigilant about the files. Idk, I never wrecked my computer and always had access. It was magical hahaha

Ambz

murph saying "it's giving _" is everything to me

Matty H

A Mixed Bag of the 2Crew watching "Batman and Mr.Freeze: Sub Zero" would be incredible

J. Gro

Junior high is 100% when you learned NOT to just type .com after whatever you wanted to search, especially at school! Too many country names .com = porn site. I also remember appreciating that Ask Jeeves was specifically designed for your search term to be a proper sentence - my brain did not, at the time, comprehend (for example) "naddpod calendar" to be an acceptable use of language.

Joseph Baldwin

I played a rune knight fighter to lvl 18, if you get the feat Skill expert, you can get Athletics to Expertiese and you can become a Kaiju wrestler. Rune Knights are a top tier grappler

J. Gro

Weirdly, I remembered that it took up a phone line but had forgotten that you could totally tell if you called! Busy signal or straight to voicemail, one of the two. Man, when's the last time anyone heard a busy signal? Now we just interrupt other calls...

J. Gro

Once or twice, but it's still crazy to hear Emily's mind be blown when she realizes (each time) that breaking the rules is technically an option! 😆

J. Gro

Also, I regret to inform you that it's too late for a new name. (Carnal) Cumpanions is too funny and catchy.

Hoenn Honey

Did anyone else notice that they took their character pictures down off the about page on the website? It made me sad! I was excited to see what the characters looked like for this season!

Moonlit Ghost

I remember waking up at 2am to sneak downstairs to watch anime when I was a kid

Santa Grinch Hugging HumBaba and two Fairies

I was Voted "too Smart for their own good" and "Most Unique" but i was in Honduras the Week of the Superlative 6flags trip and the yearbook editor was not willing to work with me so i just went unpictured

saltblend

This short rest is not buttoned up

Pop

It's giving.. buttoned up

Audro Baggins

I couldn’t stop thinking ‘In Rod We Trust.’ But I may just be a Simpsons fanatic 💛

Mikkel Voigt

Murph, bro, the Saiyan saga starts with Raditz, smh

Rain Elizabeth

Maybe it's just my love of bad movies, that is the best Batman to me. It's just so insane and I love, I can't look away, I had it on DVD up until a few years ago bc I loved it so much 😂😂

Mynne Maxine

Gohan is technically the only Z fighter to beat Vegeta in combat.

wick

Welly is a gooner confirmed 😔

dryptid

murph saying "its giving" ironically has strong /big brother making fun of your lingo/ vibes, i laughed

Andrew Bono

Wait we arent getting any more long campaigns?

Cortney Cline

Emily, why are you making the computer time and what's allowed/not allowed a gender thing?! Why? I am also afab and my computer usage was not really monitored at all. The only real constraints on my usage was just other family members wanting to also use the computer (and/or the phone when dial-up was a thing). You, Emily, just had stricter parents than some people did. It's not about gender.

Shel B Kennas fav SG is welly’s number one felly

they talked about it awhile ago-- having super long, uninterrupted campaigns have been really taxing esp to murph who had the lions share of work on him for years at a time. so they're doing shorter campaigns, rotating through who DM's-- jake did 5ish months at the helm (once a month we had bonus content) and now caldwell most likely will take us through the end of the year. They're still long, but allows for them to rotate through worlds and characters we love and also give a chance for new exploration and gives everyone a chance to have more work life balance (murph has discussed how they're able to go on vacations and not be locked to a rigorous schedule) which makes me happy < 3

Venus Astria

I have a friend whose parents are deaf so her first language is sing and she will constantly just mispronounce words she can absolutely hear and understand and it’s the funniest thing

2tongsstrong

As a kid in the 90s without search engines, i typed "american girls .com" into the browser address bar. You can imagine my surprise when i was met with nude women instead of historical dolls

sam s.

“the yearbook editor was not willing to work with me” is an extremely wonderful thing to say

Summer Tribe

"i like when there's an easy combat, then a hard one" that's how the game works yo. 6-8 encounters per long rest

Summer Tribe

"it's like lighting magnesium, it's like a phosphorous reaction dude" which is it caldwell

Spades Pendragon

My mom used to occasionally check my search history when I was a kid, which she thought something bad was in because I kept resisting her looking, just to see almost every search was about pokemon. She gave up after a couple times of that. Never actively monitored my Internet usage again

Dat Krampass

Hearing y'all say sagebrush is "boggy-core" is so hilarious as it's actually a drought-resistant shrub that mostly lives in arid habitats, including deserts lol 😅 But it's a fantastic plant, and it smells amazing!

Walker Thurman

Re kids doing random shit at night and waking up their parents friends of mine have echos or whatever in their kids rooms so they can play music and bedtime stories and stuff while they sleep, but it led to a brief period where between the hours of 2 and 5 am everyone in their house was woken by their four-year-old playing Just Dance at max volume
