Clever Innuendo

Roosevelt was touring South America, and someone got the idea to blow his mind, so they starved a school of pirhana and then tossed a cow in. To the lily white witnesses seeing this for the first time, they reported back that "fish down here are fucking crazy, ya'll", and that's literally all it took. But really, you could recreate that with Jack Russell terriers. Pihrana aren't special.

eliza sleepker

Murph is one extremely sword shaped stick away from finding his zest for life

Yara

A friend of mine said his uncle was killed by piranhas so I’m still unclear on how dangerous they actually are

Zanna

literally was thinking "but sucking out the poison is a myth right?" when Emily read the google results

Natural Dragon

Don’t suck the poison out. It doesn’t do anything other then transfer bodily fluids and poison into the ones who did the sucking.

Emma Line Tagø

Emily, Caldwell and Jake can get some honest stick reviews at sticknation https://linktr.ee/officialstickreviews?utm_source=linktree_profile_share&ltsid=374e77c2-26b0-4e53-9f71-3acce99c6cdb Leave the rocks and stones in piles in the garden - it is great for biodiversitet to create small habitats for all the nannerflies of the real world :) @Emily I think you would greatly enjoy The cloudspotters guide by Gavin Pretor-Pinney - It's a book that teaches you about types of clouds, and there are stories, mythology and poetry about clouds throughout. It is both very entertaining and it will make you enjoy clouds greatly.

Myckeli

as someone who is an adult and works with kids, the power of a good ass stick or rock is not age-dependent.

Unloved

Caldwell, with the new rules both weapons need to have the light property to be able to attack twice and a rapier doesn't have it. Unless you've got an ability or something that's making the rapier light for you. It is fun though picturing it

Tavitafish

They do look gnarly as hell though, but so do pugs

Cumbia Zookeeper

STICK BITCHES UNITE!!! I'm 44, and the best thing about my most recent holiday visit to my mom was finding that my favorite stick (staff-type) from childhood was in the back of my closet.

ananarama

Yesss I love to pick up little things on hikes 🙌🙌 I have the tiniest pinecone from Vermont

Syf Sloane

i literally incorporated my rock & stick picking up hobby into my masters thesis :)

Hugo Wull

My wife and I are sea glass bitches, definitely have a couple jars full of those bad boys.

Kay

Dude, I found the coolest stick on my last hike. It’s curly. I made it my profile pic. Look at my cool stick.

Katie Lackey

Wait whose rock collection is in the photos? 🪨🐚🧡

wick

Welcome Wednesday Adams to the NADDPOD extended universe

Amy G.

COOL ROCKS ARE COOL! ZEST UP YOUR LIFE MURPH 😆

Hammy

Pebble Bitch was a short lived character on the Flintstones

Olive

you know the short rest is going to be a banger when the picture is totally fucking random

Danielle Symonds

One of the main reasons piranha have the reputation in media is that after his presidency, Theodore Roosevelt went to the Amazon and some of the guilds baited the fish to behave like man eaters, so when he came back he told everyone about these monster fish.

Charlie Morris

Every restaurant at the mall in Thousand Oaks CA has about a 2 hour wait for a table on the weekend. It’s always packed

Kyle Veach

I am also a detritus dude, my partner and I have a vast collection of rocks and shells from all over

Lindsey

I immediately clocked how Murph deftly avoided alienating the croc-wearing nursing contingent, good work dodging that uppercase L

Brian McAree Murphy

Murph, no idea if you monitor this, but you need to have a google for the Steel rook from warhammer. 90% of the way to Zudric, just needs a lance!

Jordan J N.

Jake’s? They mentioned the stick he has as well😂

Transfemmes4murph

i am sad they didn’t mention the fact that zudric dropped a giant rock on to a herd of deer

Katie Lackey

I was thinking it was a Jake curation vibe but who can say! 10/10 would love for all rock & twig collectors to be able to share pics in this post ✨

Amanda M

the dungeon crawl was so reminiscent of when the boobs did the tomb of horrors

Jake de Medeiros

Venom is injected, poison is ingested. A “poison dart” is actually venomous, and sucking does nothing. This is a common myth. Venom is injected directly into the bloodstream, and nobody is quick enough to suck it out. Piranha are not dangerous to adult humans, and the only way to really trigger an attack would be to get in the water with them during a feeding frenzy while bleeding and splashing. Normal swimming is common and safe.

🐧lost penguin familiar

Hyenas eat their prey alive. And the females have a psudeo penis. It's a matriarchal system.

Jake de Medeiros

Yes. They netted the waters and increased piranha concentration in a small segment of river, starved them, and then showed Roosevelt as they tore a live cow apart,

Wouter Van Goey

Plenty of venoms are also poisonous, like the blue ringed octopus.. also, these piranhas were clearly starved and voracious going by Jake's description. Oh and also, THIS IS DND. If you've ever listened to an episode of dungeon court you know how much the two crew hates comparisons with real life mechanics as an argument.

Jake de Medeiros

Daddy chill 💀 They were talking about this and actively searching for real life answers, I’m a toxicologist, I answered, you’re the only one in this equation taking it personally Blue ring octopus are both venomous and poisonous, but the venom from being stung (injected) is far more dangerous than the poison you’d feel eating one (ingested), so that argument doesn’t work, because it’s still agreeing with me that poison and venom are different

Jake de Medeiros

Also Wouter, we’re both paid subscribers to this show, maybe you can assume good faith instead of accusing me of not listening 😭😂

Denali Smith

Please make jibbits merch I would love that

Loons

I’m so glad they went back over the sucking the venom out thing.

Wouter Van Goey

Ok I wrote this before I got to that part of the discussion.. I rescind my unwarranted hostility. 😅

Dandelion O’Candles

The Philistines in the Bible, Goliath being the most well known, were one of the groups of Sea Peoples that Emily mentioned.

Thermovore

Boggy might be my favorite Caldwell character ever. So fun and funny

Joshua Qualls

I’m looking right at my collection of rocks and sticks that I’ve collected over the years. I will not stand for Murph’s rock disparagement.

iamnotjackblack

Using Spencer's full government name is such boomer behavior

biblioprincess, the executive dysfunction fairy

as proud member of pebble bitch nation, i am delighted for this representation. Also, fish, turtles, scavengers, etc go for the junk on corpses because it's low effort. They go for all the soft outer bits first like nose, ears, eyes, and genitals, as well as fingers and toes because they're easily accessible.

Oni Winblad

Emily & Jake would love Stick Tok

Mila Janus

My girlfriend found a stick in PEI and brought it on the plane back out west with us... to be fair we taped it to the large keyblade I brought back. 😅

jaxolotl

as a geologist with rocks everywhere who's had the same stick in their backpack for 6 years, i feel seen by emily and jake

nathanKmcWilliams

The scholar joke makes me laugh pretty hard. I ran a one shot set in a town that has a resort for scholars, and the players were guards. Their captain was always telling them to watch out for scholars because when they're on vacation they're a terror to the town lol

Lia

As a rock hounder and hiker it makes sense to me to bring home a bunch of really neat rocks

Denali Smith

Woah no way. That’s so cool! Thanks I just looked at them

Evan

Caldwell shouting out the Crocs/Lego stores at the Galleria took me back, I used to go to that Lego store as a youngun :')

Jamie Matthews

I can't wait for the rock ranking mixed bag

Thomas Sullivan

My inner former camp counselor had been summoned. DO NOT SUCK OUT SNAKE VENOM. Why is your mouth reddish pink? Veins. Where should venom not go? Near veins. You’re better off using a tourniquet and keeping the body part away from the vital organs

Carter Milius

I don’t know which would be funnier when Zudric finally takes off his helmet: him being a total dweeb, nasally voice change, bowl cut, etc; or him being absolutely gorgeous😂

Samuel S

I just joined today, and out of curiosity went back and listened to the very first bonus episode from 2018, after the first 3 episodes of campaign one, and it’s hilarious to see how far things have come since then

Deena Shirkool

Emily talking about the LBA collapse is everything as an arch student that has written so much about the flaws of the sea peoples theory

tautcarabiner

It's because it's soft tissue guys

Tyler Goevert

I kept thinking this same thing throughout, they were so close

InternetEthan

Leave no trace policy from being a Boy Scout is drilled into my brain, but I want a cool rock collection…

Dale Jefferson

Love nature collections. I started collecting driftwood stick a couple of years ago, sanding them down and gluing them together to make wall art

Vicarbatman

Such crow activity with the rocks, but at least we know what the next mixed bag is going to be

The Wizard Spring

As a geologist, I love the pebble bitch mentality.

Crangar’s Little Helper

HUGE ROSE for Caldwell and dead panning what happened to his other Boggie Bud “oh he was hung” 😂😂😂

Mthunzi Ramphele

So, my dog is a rescue with a rough upbringing, and as a result, she was aggressive and tended to bite/attempt to bite people (don't worry, she's a sweetheart and a total love bug now). BUT when she did try to bite folks, she always went straight for the junk... just saying

Jor Elare

Red breast reference, love me some quality irish!

Courtney F.

I know they didn't mean this when they said it but it made me think it, shout out and RIP to Croc Rock in Allentown, PA (if any eastern PA people are around 👀😂)

Elizabeth Urban

All the rock talk for this campaign makes my little geologist heart SO happy!

Sami Kerwin

my solely virtually playing dnd group meets up for dnd weekend every year, and this year i brought rocks for everyone that were meant to represent their characters, plucked from a rocky beach on the Atlantic Ocean. im a total sucker for rough and craggily rocks, too!

Katie P.

Ooh, I'm a rock and pebble bitch. I started bringing rocks home from places I go and somehow it turned into, my family, my friends, their significant others, and their parents bringing me little rocks and shells from where they go around the world. It's become a lucky charm, like they went there and back again safely.

DazWaz

Video game recommendation. Split Fiction is amazing and Murph and Emily should try it

j

I used to work at a tropical fish place and we sold piranhas. If there isn't any food about, they are just like any other fish. I used to like freaking out the customers by putting my hand in the tank

Hammy

Umm you might be a toxicologist, but I’ll stick to getting my facts from the Wednesday Addams subreddit thank you very much 🙄

KingHalt

I need Murph to lay off Emily and Jake collecting sticks and rocks cause that's the ultimate past time

Savor_The_Robot

I was wondering why the picture was just rocks and sticks. And now I am truly learned

Colin Maclellan

I collect rocks from places that me and my wife go to. (Mojave, smokey, rocky mtns ect.)

Rotem Cohen

Has Murph played monster hunter? There’s a weapon there which is kind of a double galive that lets you poll vault on monsters and you get an insect familiar with the weapon, it would probably be easy to build Zudrik in that game!

Stations & Starships

I love as the campaign progresses how more and more clearly a picture is being painted that Boggy's Buds was really just simply a group of burning man hippies who just wanted a forever party in the woods.

Ruthie Pinion

I take an “Adventure Jar” when we go on big hikes, for storing all rocks and natures gifts. Emily, sometimes I take the retiring rocks with me to give back as a thank you for the new rocks?

Blue Bee

When my dad was a science teacher he had a tank with a few piranhas in his classroom and he used to feed them vienna sausages, they ripped them apart so fast

Lindsay Blake

NADDPOD jibbitz would make me so freaking happy…

Samantha Fletcher

IDK who needs this but there's an interesting book "1177 B.C.: The Year Civilization Collapsed" by Eric Cline and an NPR Throughline podcast episode (What Happened After Civilization Collapsed) about the collapse of the Bronze Age that I super enjoyed and was so nerdy-excited when Emily was talking about it. Cline is their main guest in the episode.

Hopi

I also take home sticks, feathers, and rocks. But please never ever take home lava rock or anything from Hawai’i or you will be cursed. The Hawaiian postal service gets lava rock mailed back all the time due to the curse.

Magestain

I take home sticks and carve, sand, stain, and paint them into wands, scepters, staves, and (sometimes) totems! I have a spellcasting focus in each room of my house for protection ;D

spike mccue

From a fellow Angeleno: There’s a show on KXLU Tuesday mornings 7-9 called the Zoo Croo, DJ’d by a guy who calls himself The Rattler and it is wacky and great. Highly recommended. Also KXLU is the best radio station in LA so there’s that.

CJ the wise

I still collect rocks and the ones not good enough for indoors live in our little stone and gravel path in our backyard! It's still a special place but in the outdoors :)

Rachel the Freckled ADHDer

When I was a kid, I used to be obsessed with "beauty rocks" (which were just rocks I thought were beautiful). Once, when I was about 4 years old, I was wearing overalls and my mom took me to the beach. When we went to leave, she tried to pick me up to get me in the car and she hurt her back because I'd filled every pocket to overflowing, which had doubled my body weight. I'm beyond proud to say that my daughter continues this tradition. I'm constantly finding beauty rocks in her pockets and bookbag. She also collects sticks. Those are harder to store but I find a way.

Sampy

I thought they messed up the thumbnail but I love this

Grass

i have a bunch of cool rocks and sticks and a bear tooth next to me right now

Laura !

the way that emily talks about loving the ancient historical lore keeps reminding me of the way of kings!

Nitzan Harel

I have a shelf with pretty rocks I found

Pali Endi

Murph was so mad about the sticks and rocks, he forgot to say terrible radio 🤣

Jack Farley

This crew is cumpanions and I can’t be persuaded otherwise

Keigan Z

I feel duty bound to report that I actually do regularly go to my local mall only for Auntie Anne’s and then immediately leave.

Peregrine

Murph, don’t ever talk to me or my abundance of rock children like that again

kimbo ★彡

jake and emily collecting cool rocks and sticks and giving them to loved ones is so crow-coded!!!! murph of the murder you gotta step up your game sir

June Walker

Omg... It took me until 14 minutes into this short rest before I realized that the "barred door" from episode 4 was not a "bard door" 😄 ADHD is a real problem sometimes

Liam Hansson

If you like sticks, check out #sticknation on insta. A whole page just for cool sticks! 😀

Hannah S

hell yeah! adding to my tbr thank you

Lauren Hatt

as a fellow rock & stick enjoyer I fully support this magpie behaviour - I also have jars upon jars of sea glass, shells, ceramic shards and rocks, most of which come from my local beaches ☺️

kaylee w

They have some already!

BoneyJabroni

Long Tom being hung was a beautiful joke

joe cool

flute boy is totally played by willem dafoe

Nique.Mon

Literally sameeee!!

Adam!!!!!

i like how jake said "the malls arent as dead as they say" as if he doesnt live in one of the most populated cities in the world

DankWilliamsJr

If me and my fiancé find I nice rock on a hike we take it home with us lol.

Help_I_Can’t_Sleep

My mom always collects a rock from every vacation we take, and this year for Christmas we bought her a lamp where the base was a container to display them in

Batsy Boi

I am also a stuck bitch :3 very happy to be amongst my own people

Lilli of the bog

Rocks and sticks are cool but have you tried collecting waterlillies for your wife?

hobblelobble

Okay but is the episode thumbnail a picture of one of their rock collections? Inquiring minds DO need to know

Clotilde

picking up rocks at the beach of one of life's purest ecstasies

Clotilde

all the podcasts i listen to are people who live in LA, and gotta say, people in LA are very out of touch with how the rest of north america is. Most malls I've ever been to are bumpin

hellohallo

Oh my god, has Emily read the 1177BC?? I love that book haha

Nikolaus Cox

So I was bitten a lot by piranhas when I was working in the Amazon. The water is so murky they don’t really know what you are, but they are ravenously carnivorous, so they bite everything they swim into. But their bites feel like a tight muscle twanging - nothing crazy - because they’re just nibbling to see if you’re worth eating. And humans are way too big for most species of piranha to mess with (though the bigger species will go for you) so after one bite they’ll leave you be. Fishing for piranhas is crazy though. You dangle a bit of meat on a hook, drop it into the water, and they will instantly bite it. I watched indigenous Amazonians catching countless piranhas with such ease because of this, and the water was frothing like crazy because they piranhas were just going nuts for the meat on the hooks. Basically they will go crazy for big meat if the big meat is already dead. Otherwise they’ll eat anything their size or smaller. They won’t kill and eat an entire cow in 10 minutes like the old tale goes - but they would devour a dead cow in very short order.

The Grinch (feral)

I can confirm that Spencer gifts is still alive and well lol. Im only like 22, and like see spent so much time in Spencer’s when I was in high school in our local mall. I went in there for the first time at 14, and was borderline traumatized bc nobody warned me abt the wall of dildos and pussy lollipops before hand, and to make matters worse we went in there bc my friend (a senior) wanted to try stuff on to send hot pics to her boyfriend, but they didn’t have a changing room, so we ended up going to Victoria’s Secret afterwards.

MamaMayhem - Sal Soeh, Sal Nu

I believe that Spencer's gifts stores will be like cockroaches, the only remaining thing after the apocalypse. 🤣

Olivia Rodriguez

Worked at the Philadelphia zoo in the Zoo CREW program. y’all are definitely welcome to join

Brimfer

You can actually just get a full on chunk of quartz as a gibbet from the official croc store

Adam!!!!!

dude you don't have to lie we know all of that happened on the wednesday tv series

Adam!!!!!

every few weeks i'll visit the lego store in the mall after work, get auntie anne's, and dip

J. Gro

Small, cool looking rocks (or seashells, location permitting) are one of the best souvenirs for young nieces and nephews.

Alex Leonard

Omggggg Emily knowing about the Sea Peoples is so delightful to me!!! I’m currently DMing an Ancient Greek campaign set around the Bronze Age Collapse

Alex Leonard

Have you read the follow-up by Eric Cline called After 1177BC?? So fascinating!!!

Alex Leonard

Yes!!!! And he wrote a follow-up called After 1177BC, it’s on my Libby right now and I totally recommend for anyone interested in this time and location

bog-body-babey

ah, murph doesn't understand the purpose of the rocks and sticks is to create the most beautiful rock and stick display on your dresser possible to gaze upon while you fall asleep at night. i bet he thinks the best dresser display is a gundam or some plastic object rather than the natural beauty of the river stone

Hipster

I’ve had a jar full of shells and rocks that I’ve collected from the beach. And NOW, after a trip to Ireland and Scotland, I have a jar full of Irish and Scottish rocks. 😀

Ogliara

That's an awesome stick. You must be proud

Natural Dragon

This is the second time I’ve listened to Scaldova and the short rests and until right now reading your comment I always thought it was bard door. Thank you my fellow ADHDer from a guy also with ADHD in September 2026!!
