Daven Rikhof

It pays to be a nocturnal naddpole once again

Oyabun

Or a British one, as I'm getting ready for the day

GaiusOrpheus

Warcraft creatures are Murlocs. Morlocks are the creatures from HG Wells' The Time Machine

Mitchellguy101

I have enjoyed this season so much, I can’t wait for season 2

aiyana graham art

while I'm on murphs side about the jars (not the rocks; earth should be cherished and I think bringing it inside with you is beautiful) I really admire Emily's lust for life and ability to find beauty in the mundane

Mike Knot

Honeybees will cook Hornets alive to protect their hive. 🤘🏻🔥 Instead of stinging the intruder, the honeybees swarm the hornet and begin vibrating, raising their collective temperature to 117 degrees Fahrenheit (47.2 ºC) and turning their crush of bodies into a bee convection oven. Honeybees can tolerate temperatures of 118 degrees Fahrenheit (47.8 ºC), BUT Japanese giant hornets can only tolerate 115 degrees (46.1 ºC), and get straight COOKED.

thatoneguy

Murph under sold the bee vs wasp fight. The wasps are actually too big to fight so the bees swarm them and their combined body heat is thought to be so intense they just cook the attacking wasps.

Lamp

Murph having a 10/10 murloc impression wasnt on my bingo card

Clever Innuendo

The Beekeeper could have been amazing if it was just about a quiet dude that used his skills of science and bags of wasps to wreak havoc. When it became super-secret agent man that's tougher than any other secret agent man EVER I rolled my eyes so hard I did a backflip.

katie potato

When is 12 EST for uk time? (Awaiting a stream excitedly)

Shy-senpai

Skaldova was amazing. I can't wait for Jake's next DM experience.

Ro

Omg I bummed my colleagues out so hard with a fact about carnivorous bees who make meat hives during a work meeting the other day and this is the PERFECT follow up, I can now continue my rein of animal fact terror, thank you!

EternalSongbird

Lol "Boar Door" giving me PTSD flashbacks to Emily's CR eps with Bor'Dor Dogson

Adam!!!!!

jake please i can't wait dm more please jake i love skaldova please

Pamphleteer

Trying to remember if they busted out Boulder, Parchment, Shears in the episodes of CR that Emily guested on, but assuming this was just parallel thinking haha

Kork Horf

Emily one piece reference EVERYONE CLOCK IT

AJ Carreau

Book expletives are my favorite thing! 😂 I have a whole note section dedicated to them! 🤣

rosebramblewolf

Trizz sounds like a species of bad guys in children's sci fi.

Rad lad named Brad

Murph casually saying he didn't respond to a group text because he didn't give a shit made me laugh out loud. Im still freaking laughing

Evan Cordero

I can only hear Drops of Tree Cum like Drops of Jupiter

Zaxbeez

My terrible breakfast streak was in 4th grade, every morning my dad would stop by the gas station on his way to drop me off at school. I’d get a Zebra Cake and a Yoo-hoo, every day, for like a year.

Alex Mayhem

oh no... I'm the Murph of my relationship 🫣

Sarah D

It’s definitely sycamore trees, my college campus had a sycamore glen but we all just called it the cum forest

Larry Thomsen

It’s the Bradford pear. It’s an invasive species too.

jess?

show the rock caldwell

Gavin L.

Thank you! I came to the comments to say this

Thermovore

Would be awesome to have a supercut of all the ways that Boggy said the Buds died.

Spencer Bloom

Pitching a new villain for the next arc: The Trizzler.

Spencer Bloom

Brad Ford sounds like the type of dude to plant a bunch of invasive cum trees.

Joe Pagani

Caldwell's rock sounds like maybe an agate

Jakey Juice

Bradford pear tree, they smell of cum and pee, are super invasive, AND they have super weak wood so they fall and block roads very often. But hey they have white flowers so theyre planted everywhere.

Ian Hanson

Yo is trizz the wild child cousin of triss?

Alex H.

Can't believe jake would besmirch the beekeeper

Alex H.

he literally says "to bee or not to bee" before setting off a bomb it's art

Katherine

I literally came onto this to be like "THE JIZZ IS BRADFORD PEAR" I'm glad all the naddnerds were on the same page!!

Jakey Juice

Resident botanist on the naddpod patreon

mel

@ Emily, can you share your goodreads account/booklist with us so we can read along with you? I love her taste in books!

dummythixon

It's the Bradford pear that's the cum tree and there's a guy in SLC on YouTube that makes ice cream out of plants and then uses their wood to make a bowl and spoon to hold it and he does the Bradford pear and it's wild

jaxolotl

the restaurant i used to work at started getting yoohoo as an option for kids but me and my coworkers just kept stealing them from the walk-in instead. one guy had 8 in one night & i took at least one every day. i don't think any kids actually got any tbh

jaxolotl

fuck bradford pears all my homies hate bradford pears

Xanian Jamfalcon

My fave fantasy setting has a cuss. They say "Resh" instead of fuck or shit or trizz.

Kitkitdik

Omg, they mentioned one piece, I would LOVE to hear them do a one piece mixed bag

trinacicc

this short rest is just em and murph being my wife and me

Victoria Fair

This was such a good chapter and I am going to be so impatient waiting for the next one! Great job!

Lindsey

Clair Obscur mention!!! Great game great story great graphics great music 10/10

Aster Ellis

They should review Baron Omatsuri or one of the other movies, the art in that one in particular I think they'd love

Kitkitdik

Yes!! If only we knew what the next campaign will be. It would be cool to have them review an OP arch that is similar for character inspo

Kitkitdik

All my fav references: one piece, mistborn, beeeees (I am a beekeeper) Caldwell was spitting FACTS

clerby

em i can see my shelf of actual trash (mostly soda bottles) from where i am in bed. you are right, i am usually a murph but murph is wrong. i applaud your rock keeping skills 🫶🏽

Grant Kenny

Love seeing the Clair Obscura reference by Caldy. Hope the whole group (even Jake) plays it.

Matty H

In the Northeast (Like Pennsylvania) there's a soda called birch beer which is a slightly better rootbeer that probably uses the sap from the birch trees

Shel B Kennas fav SG is welly’s number one felly

I love the shorter seasons you guys are doing for now! It’s nice to be able to bounce between the worlds we love while knowing we have a major hook to return (: great season Jalen!

Jacob B.

My favorite thing about the bee thing Murph mentioned is that they kill the wasp via friction and just dog pile on the fuckers and rub 'em to death

Jacob B.

Also this guy justininthetrees is a very good insta account where he makes ice cream out of tree bark and eats it out of bowls made from the same wood. He made a video on the Bradford Pear and it went about as you would expect. Great account though I think everybody should check him out

Brandon R

As a Canadian who never had Yoohoo growing up but has a garbage palette like Murph, I tried one for the first time in New York recently when I was there for the MSG D20 show and honestly, it just tasted like bad chocolate milk.

AutoReroll

If you guys are fans of Timtams you should go try Milo. Its like Australian Nesquick (quick) but with more of a barley taste. Its so good you always take a spoonful dry as you make a glass.

InevitablyLion

The jizz tree you're thinking of is the infamous Bradford Pear, bane of ecologists everywhere.

Ryz

The tree you are thinking of is Ailanthus altissima, also known as the Tree of Heaven. They are very common in New York and known to smell like semen. They are actually an invasive species from China.

Ian Hanson

I think the welly and fey ship name should be whey like the yoohoo ingredient

RavensBinch

I like how everyone is giving different answers for which tree is the cum-smelling tree

The Wizard Spring

Drop the rock pic. - sincerely, a professional geologist

The Wizard Spring

I've always thought that tree of heaven smelled like peanut butter

Mister Mucci

Came to say this. There's an isntagram account that makes ice creams out of trees and flowers. When he made the ice cream out of this tree the whole video he was complaining about having to do it. lol He said it tasted terrible.

MailManMan

We need a mixed bag thats just a nostalgia snack tier list!

Renee Wild

Emily, I also keep glass jars of various shapes and sizes. It seems a waste to throw out good glass that can be used again! You never when you might need to contains something!

Doctor Ransom

Something indescribable about sipping on a frosty Yoo-hoo on a hot summer day that just feels right. These guys get it.

PissGrizz

That would have a very different episode if they knew about the cum sap...

Matthew Borgard

I regret to inform you that Capri Sun is still absolutely a thing

Thomas Witholt | Hermit's Mirror

So many Bradford pears jizzing up New York and Pennsylvania. In the Southwest, we have Fairy Dusters that smell like cum (but staler somehow) when they die. I think it’s the citric acid mixed with something.

Molly Gould

I believe the tree y’all are looking for is the Bradford Pear. Infamously cum-like scent. We had one in our front yard as a kid and we called it the “wee wee tree” growing up bc it smells like genitals LMAO

YourAnimeDad

We have a saying at my home table, " I cannot DM without my horny." No, I will not elaborate. But in reference to the CON Saves for carnal release is also something I'm unfortunately doing at my table before Skaldova so I love love love that it's such prevalent bit

Caroline Groß

Fun fact! The company Wella is originally from Germany (from a town only a few kilometres away from where I grew up) and used to make products for perms - „Welle“ being the German word for wave. They were bought up by an American cooperation ;)

Abigail Agnew

The plot of The Bee Keeper is actually incredible tho. Not in a good way, but it is an incredible movie.

Andrea Quinn

Speaking of drinks discovered by sticking a tap directly into New Jersey soil, I need to know if Murph has ever had a Boost slushie.

Rain Elizabeth

After a holiday party my kiddo brought home a yoo-hoo and I tried it, and personally it didn't taste as good. Very watery

B0n3D4ddy

shattering piece of media to listen to as i am actively doing the dishes (half of which are weird little jars i’ve kept) suck beans murph, i’ll die w my horde of lil artisanal mayo jars

Cat Keckers

I’m worried about Emily’s safety. She’s a worm wife and it is well known that Murph is a city pigeon.

Walker Thurman

Fun fact about bees stinging wasps, it normally is fine for the bee! The barbs on bee stingers don’t catch in exoskeletons the same way they do skin (most of the time)

Jacob

One does not simply install a Boar-Door

Nic K Poulter

Im with Emily. I keep all my weird little jars I've obtained over the years. I put wacky loose stuff in them and/or use them as travel mugs

Stations & Starships

Great opportunity to state my opinion that the word "treacle" sounds disgusting

Ilana Galpert

Treecum is actually such a good portmanteau because it sounds like a play on treacle

Garrett Durham

Yoo-hoo isn’t milk it’s specifically Chocolate “Drink”

LM Larson

Yoo-Hoo was cheaper than water at Warped Tour around 2001-2003

hobblelobble

Yoohoo being THAT old is INSANE

Jessica Petra

"You're allowed to crash and be human after you've been a hero." - Emily Axford accidentally saying the most poignant and relevant thing I've heard in a long time during NADDPOD Short Rest

Kane Sanchez

*cracks knuckles* At a pest control professional, the way the bees counter the wasps that attack the nest is by vibrating… COOKING THE WASP ALIVE. Bees have a slightly higher max temperature threshold, but they can handle it, wasps can’t. 🐝🐝🐝

Natalie A DeNicholas

The bee thing is called Shimmering, and it looks like waves rippling across a swarm. I love bees.

Miranda B, Crick DVM

So I do need to say, first congratulations, Jake, excellent season! But second, I just got home from Battle at the Bowl Rumble in the Chungle, a 6 hour drive mind you, and now I’m leaving the house to get a Yoo-hoo because of this ep 😂

Courtney F.

Caldwell, Capri Sun has so much less sugar nowadays. Let the little ones live a little!! 😀

Loki

I’m really hoping that Jake will give them an item to awaken the boar prince one day so that we can get a scene where the boar prince is dressed in noble clothes stressing over paperwork at a desk while running the bastion

sorennn

Emily talking about Adam ruins Everything just reminded me that she was literally my childhood.

Shane Kelly

1. Jake great campaign, great job 2. You pour the sugar on cereal on the cereal let it sink to the bottom. Then you have a sweat treat at the bottom of the cereal

Andrew Karakatsanis

Don't think I saw anyone mention In The Name of the King which is Jason Statham in a fantasy setting. Perfect to play Longest Tom. His character's name is Farmer... because he's a farmer. And his weapon of choice? Boomerang. Literally written at the last minute because executives said it was too similar to Lord of the Rings. It has a bunch of big names in it too and is an awful movie. 10/10 would recommend.

Gearbox

Laidam would be such the wrong move imo. I can't root for a homewrecker, and it's not like the Zu crew has done anything at all to make themselves appealing to Laila. Can't we just believe in a woman and her first knight in love for ONCE? Feydam, though, that I can get behind.

Andrew E

I need one thousand more episodes of Skaldova, thanks Jank

Thorbjorn

Might I posit the carnal keep

Alex

What a brilliant DMing debut Jort🎉🎉🎉💖💖 truly so proud of you and inspired! I’ve been really nervous about dming but you created such a fun fantastic world… it’s got me thinking I can do it too🎉

Tannicglint285

The cum trees are probably Bradford pears, or any sort of ornamental pear species. My grandmother has them in her yard & I always hated their smell

Laura

I will not stand for this Stormlight Archive slander storm you!

Batsy Boi

Omg you're not wrong. I am the emily, the rock collector, whilst my partner, my Murphy has to deal with too many rocks in the house

Lady Land Puma

Not at all related to D&D, but Wella is a hair care brand. Emily was super close.

Emma

Emily, please drop the fun YA fantasy audiobook name! I’m always looking for more book recommendations. ☺️

Eva Vasileiadou

Emily’s dad giving “one black coffee”

Dr. Eggman

I hope Emily knows that I think about wife worm on a weekly basis 💖🪱

Noah Ramirez

it’s rude that we don’t get to see the rock

Evan

I do think it's fair to note that Sir Mathis was grievously injured by a flying axe mishap, which I would say is a pretty solid excuse to sit out an adventure

Grass

I literally founded my college’s bee club this is awesome

Jonathan H Brennan

I wonder if the romantasy book Emily was listening to was Fourth Wing, those kids do curse a lot

Rainemaker

I'm so of two minds with "censoring" your swears with fantasy adjacent words. I like to mix and match. So my characters will say "crows take you", "By the Stars" but will also just say "shove it up your ass and spin" It makes the serious swears a little more serious

hellohallo

It’s the Bradford pear! We have in CA too

dryptid

birch syrup is actually really tasty! they sell it in alaska all over, and its basically got more tang than maple syrup, dont know how else to describe it

Devin Tyler

Caldwell! You’re thinking of the Bradford Pear tree.

a walking pancake

I had to rewind it multiple times to understand how they got on the subject of bees.

Jordan Therrien

Once again just shouting out Thrice’s The Alchemy Index if you want some actual good sonnets, they close each disc of the 4 album ep with a sonnet from the pov of one of the 4 elements and they rip.

Kelsie Laveta

The Beekeeper slander is preposterous!! Emily DON'T LISTEN to Jerk "I don't like vengeance boners and I misunderstood the plot" Hurbuttz!

Sam

“It’s the hotdog of juiceboxes” very curious what that could possibly mean

Oliver M

bird swear pitch: a grackle is a bird and thus your version of frack can be grack

Stephen Fike

In this bastion we believe potions are enemas and crows fly loose

hexcat

I used to work at a maple sugar bush! The sap runs best in spring and it's sweetest then as well. It takes 40L of sap to make 1L of syrup, and Emily's right that you just boil it down.

Kelsie Crawford

YooHoo is currently in the vending machine in the cafe at my place of work. I've never had it. But it's wild seeing it at work

Emma

I just tried birch syrup at an arboretum for the first time this year! It almost had a balsamic vinegar flavor to it. Also, I learned black walnut syrup is becoming more popular because those trees are more resistant to climate change. It’s expensive but it’s more caramel-y in my opinion (and it’s great in old fashioneds!)

Kaidan C

Beekeeper is bad, but it’s a fun kind of bad, and honestly pretty much what I want out of a Jason statham movie

Hipster

I need to defend Emily about the containers because I too have kept So. Many. Glass. Containers. I don’t want to throw them out! What if I can use them?!

Faith Huisman

Not making Caldwell’s cool beach rock the short rest cover was a sad move.

William Blankenship

I just recently moved to South Carolina and I had to share that the state motto is “While I breathe I hope” and i don’t remember that being said in any of the episodes

Midwestnerd

At Caldwell when the first "F-" bomb is dropped it's so good lmfao

Nicholas Farrell

I know I'm late, but sonnets do not need to use Iambic Pentameter! That's only used in Elizabethan sonnets. Italian sonnets, for instance, don't use it

A. N. Snow

Birch juice/syrup is used to flavor sodas too, as well as fermented/distilled into liquor. Boyle soda company makes red birch soda and it's so good! If you're in LA, you can go to the French market at the Original LA Farmers market and they have it there. It's sort of like cream soda in flavor.

Clotilde

Emily- if you use oil on labels, you can cleanly get them off nice jars, because the glue binds with the oil. Sincerely, Fellow Prolific Glass Jar Keeper

Briauna Neal

Ooh, what kind of oil? Does that matter?

Dom Lehn

I want a second campaign of Skaldova so bad! Cannot wait for this story to be continued

J3Z

No here's the realness. Kids have so much more energy than adults, adults need that sugar on their cereal XD

Stephen

Relistened to the campaign for the upcoming season and Murph's quiet "what?" during Emily's sonnet has had me crying for 5 minutes. The way Murph intonates certain words, especially "What" and "No", is just so fucking funny

Cayla McNally

Finishing this up just as season 2 ep 1 is posted - shimmering bees!

Tristan Lestavel-Entwistle

Re-listening a year later - I have been at a party where someone actually did whip out a fucking theremin. They were an instant legend. Everyone had a go. Had an absolute blast. May have been a biased crowd (we were pretty much all working musicians), but still.
