Daredevil is also a goo guy I believe, and actually the Ninja Turtles were also effected by the same goo that gives Daredevil his powers (technically not but it shows the reference in the comic).

Fun fact about Goo. Daredevil is blinded by a chemical that gives him his heighten senses. This same goo is what was parodied to make TMNT. The OG turtles are a spoof of Daredevil! It’s why Raphael is in the iconic pose on the first issue. It’s also why it’s the “foot clan” as a joke off of the “hand clan”. Master splinter is like master stick etc. ( I believe it’s not confirmed just a strongly supported fan theory) but had to share the turtle love

I had good luck running strahd with 2024 rules but I switched out the strahd monster stat blocks with the 2024 monster manual versions and it balanced it out quite well. Things like vampire spawn are quite a bit different

Excited to hear how they handle more of Strahd. Note: 2024 Level 3 Daylight spell creates Sunlight, no concentration required (previously you could only make sunlight with the level 6 Sunbeam). RAW this would nerf a lot of vampire encounters, but there is a note already that the mist makes the light from the sun not Sunlight, but bright light, so you can always carry that over for the Daylight spell in Strahd.

Murph! I got you RE: bicep curls. Preacher curls better for bicep development, use the EZ bar, keep the reps at around 8-12 and go slow on the downward moment. If using dumbbells, go slightly heavier and aim for more of a 6-8 range and go really slow (feel the burn) I like a sitting single arm pulldown for cables because I think you get more incidental forearm activation but works the bicep better than straining your neck trying to stand up straight with the cable. Honestly you get the same from cable face pulls as you do cable bicep curls. I pair the EZ bar curls with my bench press and the cable face pulls with my rows. It's a solid Tuesday. Happy grinding and thanks for all the stories

This is gonna get dark but you guys keep talking about Alex Mack and I kept thinking "it's so crazy that they never mention the NXIUM stuff that that actor was apart of." This has happened to me several times - basically whenever you mention Alex Mack I would mull over this. That's what caused me to google it and realize that Alex Mack is a character played by a totally different actress and Allison Mack is the NXIUM person. So this whole time I was just unfairly thinking The Secret Life of Alex Mack and goo-based television shows were smeared by NXIUM. Wow.

At 36 minutes, there is talk of a goo-based subclass. Friends, I have good news: you’re friends at Kobold Press have already created it! It’s a Druid subclass called Circle of the Shapeless and they “believe that oozes, puddings and jellies serve an important and integral role in the natural world.” You do basically get goo form (instead of wild shape) and it gives you some buffs. Also, they apparently are the sworn enemies of the “ooze lords” which is pretty cool. You should definitely check it out, it’s in Tome of Heroes, which I know Murph definitely has on his shelf.

Acupuncture isn't based in or validated by science, it's a practice of traditional Chinese medicine. It's based on the idea of qi flowing through meridians in the body. Studies haven't found acupuncture to perform better than the placebo effect. It's a non-scientific alternative practice that's harmless to engage in as long as you do it safely and don't use it to replace science-based treatment. Some people swear by it, I have a friend who says it had a real effect on her mind helping her to stop smoking—it's perfectly fine to do something unscientific if it works for you, but I also think it's important not to confuse it with evidence-based medicine.

I’ve been doing acupuncture treatments every other week for about 2 months now (and she does blood letting too) it’s been life changing. I have endometriosis and PCOS and truly acupuncture has helped IMMENSELY. I will say there is a difference between dry needling (based in modern medicine) and acupuncture (based on traditional Chinese medicine). I will say my experience hasn’t been painful except a couple of times where she had to readjust the needle. That’s just me tho

The more i hear Murph talk about what's good in DnD the more I realize he is a comedian and a performer and doesn't have the time or inclination (rightly so) to learn anything about DnD optimization People should know better than to be shitting on pre-tasha's 2014 rangers at this point. Yeah, they had a couple features that were nigh useless, they also had pass without trace, making them the second best class at stealth in the game (barring full caster Earth Genasi), following druids. By being a half caster, they're already superior to non casters, and yet I never hear any of these players dunking on rogues, monks, barbarians, or fighters (despite having played them all)

to be fair, the citations on that website are from 2013 and earlier, there have been further studies done on the effectiveness of acupuncture in terms of treating symptoms, though it does not treat the core issue. Considering how we are still in our infancy and understanding pain and pain relief, I think it’s fair to say that the science is still not proven or disproven- this article links to a bunch of the more recent studies on the topic. In short, acupuncture is generally recommended as a supplemental treatment, to relieve symptoms, not as a cure all. https://www.washingtonpost.com/wellness/2023/07/24/does-acupuncture-work-chronic-pain/ additionally, I wonder how many studies differentiate between different schools of acupuncture, because there are differences between Chinese versus Korean versus Indian versus Japanese , and modalities such as dry needling, 5 element, etc. I guess I would recommend acupuncture before I would recommend chiropractic, as acupuncture has had far fewer injuries! And I think that if someone is curious about acupuncture, you can try it and see if it makes you feel better. It might well be a placebo effect, but placebo effects can still be effective at reducing the psychological aspects of chronic pain, and I think that is still worthwhile. Just keep your expectations realistic, understand what goes into getting licensed, and if you don’t feel comfortable, don’t go back!

Chiropraxy is certainly worse but both are quackery. It is definitely not 'fair to say that the science is still not proven'. The practice has been around for over two thousand years - the fact that there is no credible evidence for it's efficacy indicates it is not real. Have a look at some of those recent studies from that article or others available online, particularly at the funding, and you will find many of them are funded by Chinese and TCM institutions that have a clear motivation to 'find' efficacy as TCM is considered a key export by the Chinese govt. I’ve said this other places since this arc has started but as someone who’s rare combo of chronic health issues has made it that I am practically an just a vampire (all the way down to the borderline sun allergy) that being a vamp sucks. It’s not fun. I get sun burnt from FLORESCENT LIGHTS, and can’t go out w/o 100spf and yet I still get burned. And I do have a sun umbrella oppa vamp harwon in shadow fell style, but even then it only does so much and people tend to look at me weird lol. Esp when my gallon bottle of electrolyte mix is bright red bc I added fruit punch crystal lite to it so it doesn’t taste like ass

When needles give you a little jolt like that it’s often them hitting a tension area which causes your body to send blood and endorphins to the area as well as making the muscle tense and relax causing relief. PTs will do something similar to acupuncture but instead of looking for “energy points” they can actually target problem areas. I love to have my shoulder needled, I had a PT who would basically just stab in and the wiggle the needle around making lots of little jabs to break up tension. They also will sometimes run electricity through stationary needles but apparently the places I need it done are too close to my heart and spine
