Went back and listened to the Mage Madness saga after the crew mentioned they are doing a show with Zach. Did not remember how much ass Mavrus kicked in that fight. Three seperate life saving counter spells plus he dealt almost 40 damage to two different dudes simultaneously (and that's with both of them passing their saves).

West Marches games can work better than Caldwell things because once the GM has a world set up, you don't have to worry about timing and scheduling at all. You just keep a consistent game time, and play with whoever shows up. You get a larger stable of players with different schedules, and they all join when they can. Each session is set up as a one-shot self contained adventure, that often ties together with the larger themes and arcs.

Keep in mind if you learn to dunk, dunking with 2 hands with give you better control of the ball and generally will be easier, but you will have to jump higher. You cannot stretch 2 arms as high as you can stretch 1 at a time. So I’d start with 1 hand. Also you don’t need to palm the ball, just control it. To Caldwells point, if you can’t control the ball due to small hands or something, you can give yourself a lob, but now you have to learn to get that toss consistent. To find how high you need to jump, measure your 1 hand standing reach. Like mine is abt 8 feet if I reach straight up. So I need to jump 2 feet to get to touch the rim, and about 6 or 7 more inches to get my hand with the ball over the rim. Find that reach standing, find how much to touch rim at 10 feet, then add however many more you need for your hand with the ball to clear the top and get over. Possible, but difficult. For Murph id expect he’d have to jump at least 30 inches and some change, depending on his lankiness. Jump a lot to improve, exercise to train explosiveness. Listen to your knees, don’t hurt yourself.
