I really enjoyed this episode! Sucks to hear how sick you were Murph, but its good Emily was there to save you ^^ however, while flu shots do also help a lot - wearing a mask when ur in at least larger areas especially while traveling is going to be much better for you. I think most ppl atp have gotten their immune systems wrecked by covid, so even if u didn't contract covid - the cold or flu or other "minor" illnesses will be much harsher on you guys, like why Jake says he also struggled when he got sick this year. I hope you guys take care of yourselves seriously 💜 haven't listened to the rest of the SR yet but don't underestimate sicknesses especially post 2020

Hey guys! So I use to get sick like Murph all the time but here is what it sounds like: - you miiiiiight have allergies Murph, I’d recommend you go see a throat, nose ear doctor and if that doesn’t help then go see an allergist (it’s how we found out my cousin can get allergic to the common cold; FUN FACT!) - while on planes be sure to wipe down the arm rats, the seat rats, the tray rats, the window rats, etc basically put a colorix wipe down before you touch it. Airplanes don’t get deep cleaned and many germs live on those surfaces. There is more but I hope this helps! Great episode!!

I’m sorry to hear how sick Murph got and that Emily has now caught it too!!! This is more in case anyone else reads it and is thinking “oh my god I got sick way worse this year too!” than expecting 2 crew to read it but, I work in healthcare and we got a lot of alerts about how much more intense this year’s flu variant was - the season started earlier than normal and it was a particularly highly mutated strain, so it was just a perfect storm. Lots of people got more sick than usual from it even when vaccinated (though that still minimised severe symptoms, don’t get me wrong lol). Also bonus nerdy thing, I listened to a Radio Lab episode that talked about how women’s immune systems are often better, but also prone to *over* aggressive responses so it can lead to more autoimmune conditions in that population too. Obv there’s more nuance there, but I am a science nerd and it blew my mind. So maybe it isn’t entirely the energy drinks lmao?

So Big Bang Theory is kind of my guilty pleasure show, I know it's not a good representation of nerd culture but I find the characters oddly endearing. Young Sheldon is actually a really solid family sitcom, my wife and I enjoyed it thoroughly, laughing and crying often. The end is a heavy hitter. To each their own, certainly, but genuinely I think YS is good.

you wake up in the middle of the night. its storming but yet its dry. no rain just lightning and thunder. as you lay there staring out your window, a flash of light streaks across the sky lighting up everything. you notice standing out in the field outside your window, a creature 6ft tall, beer gut, green fur. you couldent be to sure but was it the grinch? booooooom the thunder cracks and before it even has time to end another flash of lightning strikes. now standing 5 feet away you see it again. the grinch, or atleast a person in a impecable jim carry grinch outfit. you jump out of bed knowing your car is in the garage and could be started and you can drive away. or. you can grab the baseball bat next to your bed and find out if the grinch is real. what do you do?

Ok so I have a wolf wink story. Growing up I lived on the border of Minnesota and Wisconsin. Well one cold winter night I was sent to warm up the car. I started the car and hopped in the backseat waiting for the family to come out. When all of a sudden a wolf came right up to the car door and looked inside. I was a little lad so my eyes barely came over the top of the windowsill. We locked eyes. I’ll never forget these eyes. I’ve told this story ever since and my family doesn’t believe me. re: wolves and doors - my husky learned to open my front door to let himself in - it was like one of those like top tabs with a lower handle, he’d jump on the door and push down on the top tab and his weight would open it forward from there - so It’s Possible

I was once camping in badlands and there was a pack of Coyotes probably only a few hundred meters from our tent. The howling was extremely unnerving even knowing they were mostly harmless, couldn't sleep all night. Wolves are like three times their size. Just freaks out the caveman survival instinct part of your brain.

So sorry to hear that Murphy and Emily got sick, and a couple people here already mentioned it…but just a reminder that Covid definitely can damage your immune system! (Esp repeat infections) People like to joke about it and talk about “during covid” but it’s still very much here! And it can make other illnesses hit a lot harder! Wearing a mask is still the best way to not get/spread it! At the very least on flights and to doctor’s appts/hospitals.

Saying this with all the love in my heart because I know most people dont really get their shots til they have kids but please make a habit of getting them. Im a nurse assistant in the pulmonary wing of a hospital and if you are able to please get flu and COVID shots. At least in the US, you can get them for free with insurance at Safeway or CVS and most cities and states have free alternatives for those who don't have insurance. Im not an immunologist but the advice I was told to give is to get your shots September-November. Ironically, just this past peek I picked up the FFVII Remake (the newer/cleaned up “Intergrade” version) during the Square Enix Summer Sale on the Switch 2 (for only $13.99!). Fantastic game - especially for that price! On top of the great gameplay, the game is perfectly paced, that I barely put my switch down. Some may call that a waste of a day, I highly disagree lol
