Mason Murtha

Caldwell is right All architects are freaks. it comes with the overly pressured schooling. I should know as im typing this from my firms desk listening while I do work

Samuel Gray

The Jake reading the sticker bit makes me cry every time I hear it

Murf'nLurph

I'd love a baboon callback character in a real campaign 😂

riley chalk

It's wild that this first episode of 8-bit book club has the same energy as the episodes 4 years later. These beautiful comedy masters have literally never changed.

Walker Thurman

Murph started this episode “ba-da-da-da no one cares” but the sticker drove that out real fast

DMCDawg

Leather clad hero? 😳

Ted H.

Don’t do that… don’t give me hope

Evan V

Love you guys!

Rena DeLorenzo

Olivia Hill

Georgie

Listening to this on my way to London for tonight’s show!

Micah Edmonds

Hey Sweeties! This is the best thing I've heard since those banging tunes that Harmonica Boy used to play back in World War 2 World. It's different, it's hip, and I enjoy it!

Santiago Mareque

You should also put it on the 8BBC podcast channel!

Evan V

Nathan was a guest on 8-bit too!

Will

I'd love to see a poorly photoshopped Jake on the cover art of these if they're a reoccurring thing!

Yelhsa W.

Dropped everything to start this episode IMMEDIATELY

Squiffy13

That’s just how it is on this bitch of an earth

Will G.R.

Alex Roddy

LETS GO LITERALLY HAD A MINUTE LEFT IN THE MOST RECENT SHORT REST WHEN THIS POSTED (my second time listening to it of course) 🙏

Mike Cathcart

Wow, really unprofessional of Jake in this episode reading a sticker while Murph expertly weaves this grand tale. NOT a good look for him.

Martin

Freen

Ben Delahay

This is the plot of Our Flag Means Death

g-unit0301

Me a 5’8 140lb man listening to this 😭😭😭😭

Emma Margaret

So fermented corn juice is called "tejuino" and it isn't actually alcoholic unless you add beer to it, or I'm sure there are other recipes with other alcohols. It's popular in Chihuahua and other cities in Mexico. Sorry I love a good moment to share some trivia. I spent a lot of 2020 learning about fermentation in different cultures and experimenting. Such a funny episode! Makes me want to go back and listen to the old 8bit book club eps.

華偉 曾

what a nostalgic theme music, I miss this

Steve Slatky

I'm disappointed there wasn't a poorly photoshopped Jake in the 8 bit bookclub cover.

Dave

Both appropriate and hilarious.

Dave

Well obviously he doesn't count.

Eric Meckley

architect here - we truly all are dirty little freaks

Pope Leo

HELL YEAH 8BBC

Ben Delahay

Also the Nathan Yaffe erasure. @ second guest

"Ouy Ouy Ouy" Beetos, 2021

Jack Farley

Jake has not earned the title of “life/comedy partner” he is but a lowly bailiff

Garga Lenoir

Yeah! Plus there is still a community of 8 bits book buds on reddit, they would *freak out*!

Garga Lenoir

So how's the weather up there?

Garga Lenoir

Maybe as a sticker on the book?

Garga Lenoir

How the intro usually goes : Murph : Welcome to 8 bits book club, the only book club that make you dumber, I am Brian Murphy joined as always by life/comedy partner Emily Axford Emily : *Makes an impenetrable joke about this week's book, like "Merry Pacmas!"* Murph : And my other life/comedy partner Caldwell Tanner (OR a joke about him being something adorable from the book's universe) Caldwell : *Makes a more accessible joke about the book's universe, usually an exclamation or a rallying cry*

Marc Gazda

Hell yeah, architects represent - we are definitely dirty twisted little freaks. Also, googling "Pick a Path books" yields a result for one called "Murf the Monster" from 1985. Pretty sure Murph was born in '85. Coincence? I think not...

Frank

The blesséd return ‼️

Kristen with-a-K

The absolute chaos of this ep brings happiness to my cold, dead heart.

Clotilde

*heavy breathing*

Clotilde

god i love 8bbc so much :,)

Pontifex

Any glass cannon podcast fans in here? Saying Lorc so many times reminded me of a certain dad-bod half orc ranger hahaha

Tyrone Shoes

Just hearing that theme song brought me back! 8 bit book club got me through the end of college fr

Garnett

Emily's Magic-User comment will get the OSR crowd riled up :)

Adam Gomez

Love that we are getting a full dose of Murph’s New Jersey with all this corridor and water talk.

Emma Horton

My question is, do I now have to change my ig bio to “horny for stories”

MJMM

Emily saying, "this guy has a victim complex." killed me!

Jack McReynolds

I heard that reference to the Hammer, Murph. I'll always appreciate an off hand MMA reference.

Meuce

I'm gonna cry. As an OG book-bud, this is exactly what I needed right now. Thank you

Taylor

Nice catch on the outro. Classy

Trevor jones

absolutely here for the 8-bit revival

Tren LF. (TheLagFairy)

That was a lot of fun, been meaning to check out the old 8-bit. Think that might be my summer walking pod. Looking forward to more of these with Jack ✧◝(⁰▿⁰)◜✧

JR Lonergan

Came here specifically for this comment 😂

Luke Shealy

Gotta love the consistency of Jake still being a lesser member of this party. First lowly Bailiff, now permanent guest.

Grace Meers

I’m crying I really needed this right now

farmerjoe_y

This is too perfect: I live in Baltimore, where "lor" is slang for "lil/little," as in "lor bit = lil' bit." So every time the crew calls Loris "Lore Loris," I hear "Little Loris."

Sand Panda

I want to feel sorry, but I laugh instead.

Clio

Lmaoooo I love the height complex y’all have 😂😂😂

Josh Owl

Man that intro song really brought back memories 🥹 I'm so glad we got another piece of what will inevitably a piece of culture that baffles historians for ages to come

Megan

Wow this was perfect! Everyone needs to listen to Finish It! if you like insane 80s choose your own adventure books

Will Day

usually love 8bit book club and mixed bags but could've just skipped this one. skipping over most of the text you're reading and the majority seemed to be talking over each other and hur hur 5'9 short. quality content

Gloria Han

I’ve missed 8bit book club so much!!

Josh M.

Love 8 bit book club!!!!!

heartswell

Excuse you, 5'9 is medium.

sofiasco

I didn’t realize how much I’ve missed 8bb until this. #MorePls

William Bowen

I really love 8 bit club. Glad to have more

James Lindberg

Ever heard of Skateboard Champion? That book is rad

KodiBenz94

YESSSSS!!! Bring the Club back!

Mooncrest

God this was a good laugh. Murph's determination to keep the show on topic is always funny to me

Nye-Low

I really missed this!

Erin Shear

This was my first 8-Bit Book Club experience and I'm now happily listening to the backlog. Great show, glad the 2 Crew picked it back up for this!

Karla Jones

NO WAY!!!! So excited to see this return!!!

Jude Seimon

OH MY GODDDDDDDDD my pipeline to being obsessed with all the things im obsessed with was literally drawfee->WSWD->8 Bit Book Club->NADDPOD->DnD and Dimension 20. This is so nostalgic!!!! I feel like im riding the bus to high school again, and im in my third year of university now... its been a long journey!! Love you guys. Hugs and kisses. Hopefully this one will be less cruel than that mario book you guys did.

Joe

Same! With some Jake and Amir and Hardly Working thrown in! Fantastic people with fantastic content!!

Hamish

I just listened to ep.3 of 8-Bit Book Club…. REALLY MURPH? You came up with Jaina Bronzebeard THAT long ago? You legend. Hearing Emily call Jaina “Gina” and then hearing you imagine a character was called bronzebeard was a real nice Naddpod Easter egg ❤️

Yura

I know it's been a long time but i can't believe they forgot their iconic introduction lines... "It's different, It's hip, and I enjoyed it."

Christina Taylor

That moment when you realize you might be taller than Caldwell. Lol.

Squishy, Pawpaw's Brushtail Possum lover

I stopped and listened to every episode of 8bit book club before this one (finished it yesterda). I acidenlty went about 2 months as a paid patrion without listening to any NADDPOD, whoops. This was fun.

Gearbox

wait, fermented corn juice? so literally Moonshine?
