I was the only student in my year to have opted out of doing the fetal pig dissection in freshman biology. I just had to do a four page worksheet packet during that hour. The rest of the students had a thick packet to complete post dissection.

My comment is so late but relevant to the time this was recorded. From 2021-2023 I was taking fully online classes for an Environmental Science degree, which of course required a lot of science classes where lab work was required. Since it was online, all of my lab kits for the semester were mailed to me. When I got to biology II, most of the labs were dissection of increasingly "complex" creatures. So for 5ish months I had a box of preserved specimens in my home including an earthworm (shoutout to the wormwife), a grasshopper, a clam, a fish, a rat, and a late-term pig fetus. You would think that online classes are the perfect time to utilize simulated dissection, but no, instead I got mailed a box of corpses.

If anyone ever does want to work out in Albany, check out ABC Fitness. Great gym, but also you could potentially see some pro bodybuilders or high level powerlifters while still having all the space and equipment for people who are completely new to exercising. I'm not in the area anymore, but it's a sweet spot. The owner welds new pieces of equipment himself.

Graduated high school this last year (class of ‘21) and we didn’t dissect anything in our regular biology class, but there was an option of an Intro to Anatomy class where we were going to dissect a chicken wing, a sheep eye, and some other stuff, but didn’t get to because of the pandemic. A lot of “labs” are just online simulations now which sucks because it’s contributing to a lot of burn out for students
