I think the swimming gloves/webbed fingers that Emil found are for swim racing training, they add extra resistance while doing freestyle, I used to use them when I was on swim team. Also I used to listen to the show when I swam!

I'm fairly certain that it's only a specific type of frog (I wanna say wood frog, maybe?) that hibernates via freezing. I think some other frogs kinda bury themselves in mud at the bottom of ponds...

Fun animal hibernation fact!: there's a cute little bat in Japan that hibernates in snow banks! It's the only other mammal, besides the polar bear, known to hibernate directly in snow.

FYI - only box turtles that have been bred\born in captivity/under human care should be buried for hibernation. They also need to be pretty healthy overall, and not be too old or too young. **Also, don’t ever freeze a turtle! It’ll 100% not live through it.**

someone gets it haha russian tortoises are a lot more suitable for ohio conditions (from personal experience) sulcata's are really tough to take care of in harsh conditions

My dad has taught me so much about turtles. They can hibernate and survive submerged, there have even been snapping turtles with trackers that don’t surface for like years. Also Murph’s ninja turtle poster is unfortunately anatomically correct 😭

My lizard-oven/dice-Christ confession: My little brother had a lizard that needed a heat lamp. We were leaving on a family trip and as the know it all oldest sibling, I determined that he had put the lamp to far away…so I moved it closer right as we left. One of the best things I've learned from naddpod is making powerful "support" npcs that still let the players shine. I ran a session where the party helped a druid rescue a less experienced ally from cultists who had things like healing (which the party def needed) and did things like enhance ability and flame arrow (which the ranger absolutely loved). It was a fantastic combat.

Florida Frog Fun Facts: In Florida, we are encouraged to humanely euthanize Cuban Treefrogs by freezing them for 24 hours. They are an invasive species that threaten (and sometimes eat) our endemic tree frogs. Freezing frogs for 24 hours can kill them or put them in a permanent state of hibernation from which they won’t recover. Please do your research before freezing amphibians & reptiles because they might not wake back up again!

Just FYI, Florida recently passed a law that iguanas could no longer be kept as pets, it is illegal to take them from the wild and keep them. If you owned an iguana before 2021, your iguana is grandfathered into the law, but you have to have a permit. It is true that they will fall from trees when hibernating.

We have a fully grown sulcata (the tortoise in your picture) at home. My wife bought him as a hatchling in 1998 and at the time he fit inside one of her 8yo hands. Now he weighs 154lbs and is 31" long. We live in the Midwest and in order to take care of him in the winters we built a 12'x12' four-season sunroom off of my wife's office and installed a stand-by generator for power-loss conditions. We love him, but I absolutely do not recommend anyone buying them in the north unless they are *fully* prepared to build a huge, heated, UV producing enclosure capable of housing an intelligent, mobile boulder.
