The red light is because it is the lowest energy light in the visible spectrum, so you can see without activating the part of your brain that thinks it’s daytime (it’s the opposite of Facebook being blue). I use gel plates to make all my lights red bc I have a condition called visual snow that makes me see STATIC(!) over everything in my vision
