This is completely unrelated, but I was just re watching the dimension 20 starstruck series and Murphy was loookin extra buff, did you like put on some mussel just to get into character as big Barry six?

Maso

I have listened to this 43 times now, and can confirm it is on par with a full roasted chicken

austinoxner

Was supposed to play dnd tonight and fell through. This is the next best thing for a Friday night.

Eugene

Omg i have such trauma of accidentally drinking my dad’s tabaco dip spit. And now I can not deal with spit lol.

Grant Wilkerson

Yep, I'm getting PTSD flashbacks to when i was a kid and tried to steal a drink of my dads Pepsi and it being Dip Spit instead...

rye boy

Hi Caldwell, when's the next Caldwelts coming out? I loved the "Caldwell Getting Whacked With a Whole Trout" episode. Thanks!

Canid Duality

Love the DnD stats with hotpockets. Usually hear the tomato version.

DC

Guess what? All those graduates at the Yale commencement speech were once the kids Murph told to crit on their homework. What a beautiful circle.

"Life is like a deck of many things -- no matter what you pick, you'll probably die" Yale commencement speech, 2031

Horny advocate for Welly's carnal audiobook

Since you were also mentioning Gatorade I thought Dipspit was another American drink, that because of the name, the crew were maybe head-cannonning to be harvested by giants like Slurm from Futurama... I still choose to believe this is a US soda, please don't correct me, do not explain what it really is.

Lorelei and Kyra Newly Weds

Next live show I manage to make it too, I'm going to bring a spittoon and try to get every fan to spit into it so I can then ship it to the PO box

Nick_Nack_Patty_Whack

Since unknown player wasn’t able to make it to the recording(and I don’t know how long they’ll be out) will there be sub-arc until they return? Knowing me I missed the announcement.

Nesve Fowl

I loved all the dip spit jokes!

miguel cantu

Man, Murph really likes hot pockets.

Maya Soh-Brown

I believe in the last dnd court they said they backlogged a bunch of eps so main campaign will continue

Maya Soh-Brown

Dipspit is a soda if you aren’t a coward.

Maya Soh-Brown

The amount of fans who have Dipspit related trauma is insane (as one of them)

Connor Dub

In my mind, GoT nailed the size of a giant

Shane H

During the DS bit I kept saying to myself while I was working, smile. This makes me smile. So smile!

HexBaba Yaga

I had an ex (emphasis on EX) who would leave bottles laying around with their Dip spit all the time. There was once he switched out my iced tea for an old spit bottle...... i noticed way too late. That was over 10 years ago and i still cant drink that brand of tea again 🤢🤮🤢🤮 On a side yet related note, every time they shortened it to DS, i just kept thinking the acronym DSL and laughing 🤣 (specifically the one that means lips and what they suck)

Ben Wilcox

I remember being around 7 years old and taking a nice big sip of my favorite pop, Sprite. Turns out my dad used it as a spitter. Made me cringe throughout the ep just thinking about it

tacticalgrandma

Emily you’ve been so good on CR!!! Way more than just a skill check monkey, Prism is so excellent. It also makes me want Marisha to guest on NADDPOD so bad!

Hue

So when can we expect the mixed bag of them all trying and ranking hot pockets by how sick it makes them?

Hannah

lol, S/O to Emily for seeing my "vile" comment on the patreon post

David Kuckuck

Sounds like murph homebrewed forcecage into imprisonment and even included the pokeball material component.

Sahara

Has anybody made the joke about it being homophobic to trap Jaina in a box during pride month yet? If not, know that this is me doing my solemn duty as a lesbian; I take no joy in this.

Speaking to the charisma conversation, I’ve personally thought for a long time that sorcerers should have their casting stat be constitution, because their magic comes from their bloodline, their literal body, but it’s technically a physical stat so wizards didn’t make it a casting modifier…. As a paladin player who is a charisma caster I’ve always thought of charisma as his force of will or personality casting magic, not necessarily hotness or ability to talk to people

Abe C

Strength: How many boxes of hot pockets you can carry Dexterity: How fast you can eat a hot pocket without any falling out and staining your shirt Constitution: How many hot pockets you can eat in one sitting Intelligence: Knowing how to cook the perfect hot pocket in the microwave so the middle isn’t frozen Wisdom: Knowing you need to let the hot pocket cool down or blow on it before taking the first bite Charisma: How well you can persuade the cashier to accept your expired hot pocket coupons

Liam Cornell

Is it just me or does every short rest devolve into conversations about food

faizaan723

Charisma sort of feels like Force of Will, or Force of Spirit to me. Like, similar to the sanity/power mechanic in Call of Cthulhu, a charisma saving throw is a measure of how strong your spirit is, your sense of self, your identity, your personality. You can’t be banished easily because your sense of your place in this world is so strong and rooted that it would take serious force to drag you away from it

aiyana graham art

I met the guy who made the hotpockets logo. I had an artist visit with him

Ben Wilcox

Hey! Happy Father's day Jake and Caldwell!! And of course our beautiful Daddy Murph

Hailee Henson

Griffin McElroy's already done a commencement speech (at his alumnis)

Craig

Hot pocket taste test when?

Gonzofresca

Can we get a t-shirt that has "I found the Bean Rat in the Irondeep tunnels" with a sort of crytpid artwork of the bean rat?

Ilana Galpert

Was looking forward to them addressing the ds controversy and it did not disappoint

thiswayjose

Who would have thought Matt to be more chill than Murph, a known normal dude!?!?

2026-10-05 21:00 I think the D&D movie did a great job of explaining the Sorcerer being a Charisma caster as more of the confidence needed in doing said magic.

And Laura! And could you imagine Ashley Johnson?! I do have a soft spot for how Prism and Deni$e have interacted and would love for Aimee to come by

I dm professionally to kids, so I actually use tomato’s to explain the stats quite like you did with hot pockets: Strength: how many tomatoes can you lift. Dexterity: how accurately do you throw tomatoes, and how good are you at dodging tomatoes thrown at you. Constitution: how many rotten tomatoes can you eat without throwing up, and how many unripe tomatoes can you be hit with before you collapse. Intelligence: knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom: knowing not to put a tomato in a fruit salad. Charisma: the ability to convince someone to eat a fruit salad with tomatoes in it.

Finding out who your advertising partners are on the short rest is always a surprise. Hearing how the other half lives.

Dag Swaniels

Part of what is captured with the charisma attribute is one's force of will. It is your force of will that is allowing you to escape the magic prison just like being a charismatic leader of a nation means enforcing your will.

Dag Swaniels

I def try not to bring up casual homophobia in conversation.

Nova

I’m so glad the Hot Pocket joke deviated into MtG cause as soon as hot pockets were brought up I just sat here going DO THEY KNOW ABOUT THE MTG SPONSORSHIP

jacob kessler

omg emily imagining the fire giants as elden ring fire giant... that's perfect lmao

MrMach6

Charisma represents your force of will, strength of soul and your ability to exert yourself on the world. This is why it impacts both your social skills and your saves against things like banishment which directly targets the soul of a creature (which is why a creature not native to a plane can be banished forever; the plane you belong to has everything to do with where your soul is attuned). As it pertains to D&D, “Charisma” is mostly interchangeable with “Willpower.”

Madeline

Caldwell has to share where he got this silent tea pot

Adrianna Rios

for me, wisdom would definitely be knowing when to bite into the hot pocket and not burning your mouth on molten cheese

Smiththebat

“Tales from the Yawning Portal” is also a fantastic collection of one shots for all kinds of different Character Levels!! 🤙🤙

Emz

Why do ya’ll know so much about hot pockets?

Alex

Murphy play magic the gathering with me I will also use a deck built only from stuff I find in hot pockets

Cain Catto

The DS was the first bit in the entirety of naddpod, including all main and side campaigns and the entirety of patreon content up to this point, that disgusted me so much that i actually had to pause the pod

Kaileigh Rose

Me laughing so hard at the DS. Lmaoooo

Haley Amplo

The goddamn hot pockets man! I couldn’t stop laughing.

djspooky

I wanna know which Ganondorf the fire giants made you think of lol

Robert de Forest

On the topic of what Charisma means besides convincing, I think of it as "presence". How hard is it to ignore this person when they assert themselves? A person can be ugly and still have a lot of presence which folks find very convincing. Tom Waits has a lot of charisma (no offense intended).

Bryce Peterson

“Ohhh if didn’t pass through your body” (referring to the black lotus) Love that Emily’s thought process is permanently curvy and taking unscheduled stops along the way.

samya :-)

When I was like 9 I was riding around with my uncle in his truck and I really wanted some of his Coca Cola but I was too nervous to ask so when he got out of the truck at a gas station I took a big ol swig & it was dip spit. I just wanted you guys to know that I relived that moment over and over whenever dip spit was mentioned & felt so seen and connected 😅

zizeksmom

Truly loved the abilities to hot pockets discussion. *chef’s kiss*

Sean Boyle

Monks are probably the best melee class to use in a 1v1 against another melee class due to their ability to stun, and then also the fact that they have the highest movement speed of any class. They can run in stun them every turn until they are down and if a stun fails they can get out of their enemies attack range before the enemy can touch them. Most times this will mean that to close the enemy will need to spend their action to dash, of course if they do that they are just putting themselves back into striking distance for the start of the monks turn without doing anything meaningful. Of course this all falls apart once you start fucking with spell casters. Most mid to high level spellcasters just win a 1v1. Paladins are op in 1v1s though cause they can take hold person which just ends the fight usually.

Matthew Flood

I work at Yale, and will do everything in my power to get Murph and Emily at commencement! (I do not have any power, but I'll lobby had any way).

Alexa Zubia

listening in 2025 and absolutely frothing at the mouth for the Yale d&d commencement speech that was foretold

Adam!!!!!

papa john's do have this one dessert where it's crushed oreo wrapped in dough and it very much fills that dessert hot pocket niche

Jakub Dublin

No one on this show has an uncle that chewed and used coke bottles to spit. What you think happens happened

Foxally

Ive always seen charisma more as sheer force of will, mostly because of banishment.

M

Congrats on your commencement speech Murph! Hope it went well! 🤣🤣

Harley

DS was so foul, it helped me quit nicotine back in 2023

Alethea Hansen

“Jaina got cubed” gives “Lana got coned” vibes
