Honestly my Grandmother received non-SSI, non-retirement, checks for years delivered to her house. She moved a lot. And often wouldn't talk about what she did for work as a young woman. She often would have well dressed visitors who would also drop off checks. I have for years mulled over the possibility that my Gma was some sort of retired FBI or CIA controller or something.

So, as a 90's kid (96 specifically) my grandma wasn't ALWAYS embarrassing but sometimes she'd do things like do a little dance when she hears a song she likes in a grocery store or something. I am NOW embarrassed how she speaks about "poor people stores" and such when she doesn't spend her own money

The goosebumps choose your own adventure books have some horrifying endings! There was one where a witch turns you to stone but you can see and hear your friends come look for you and then keep walking by while you can't do anything and are trapped like that forever. Many endings where you just die lol

it was only a matter of time before the 8bit book club read a choose your own adventure that I actually read. so surreal. There is another good goosebumps one where you get stuck in a mad scientists labyrinth. But this one was my second favorite out of them!
