How has it taken this long for Cake Hurwitz to happen

Chloe Peifly

hey i had this book! was hoping you guys would do more goosebumps adventure books because i had a ton of them but not the one from last 8bbc

Positive Nerdery

I really hope Jake gets to be part of 8-Bit Book Club again. The one episode he was on was great!

Ilana Galpert

Is there any information on how long the october 7th show is? I'm 100% planning on going but it'd be super helpful (totally possible I'm a goof and just missed the info)

Penpen

Jake's wrestler name is now Jake "The Cake" Herwitz

wizard wearing a poodle skirt

pre-listen, wondering if it’s possible for this goosebumps read-through to make me cry and laugh as much as the grandma one 🤞🤞

Mitch (Sigg43)

8 bit book club is my favourite type of post! It's great you could get a guest!

Excelsidorks!

I'm so glad you guys have kept doing these!!!

Gank Ogman III

Ohhh Kay what am I about to listen to…?

Parma Jun

Pretending the main character is 35 years old is absolutely my favourite bit.

Sir Crits-A-Lott

It's cool to hear someone new on the pod. Good job Jim!

update: i did cry from laughing once again, it’s wild the power the goosebumps 8-bit book clubs have over me

Jordan

I vaguely recall seeing this book in my youth, but the only one I remember reading is one where you have to escape from a haunted carnival. As a side note, this sent me into a Goosebumps/R.L. Stine wormhole, and turns out the guy wrote a AD&D storybook published by Marvel prior to Goosebumps. It’s called “The Forest of Enchantment” if anyone is curious.

Clever Innuendo

"How did you get perfect synchronicity for "That's old for a bird", and no one freaked out about that?

ananarama

Talking about the garage fridge is the most reliable thing 😂

ACK

R.I.P my first cat Crackers, lived a good life and made it past 20!

Sean Flanagan

Fun bird fact! Seagulls can live to be up to 75 years old!

Jake de Medeiros

Man this book was bad! Crazy how the goosebumps series can go from a high stakes romantic drama like the Brussels hookup to this

villager72

When they said Jake's new nickname was Cake all I could think of was Adventure Time, LOL

arti

I love these goosebumps 8 bit bookclubs. I'm so happy yall did another one.

Alex Willging

Guest star Jake "The Cake" Roberts (for all you wrestling fans)

Blaize Gordon

Growing up I loved goosebumps so much and I've actually read 2 of the choose your own scare books and this was one of the ones I had! I would love y'all are able to keep finding these, especially the genie in the coke can🥰🥰🥰

Samantha

Interesting timing that Murph mentioned RICO considering Trump was just charged under the RICO act in Georgia!

Glenn D AKA Mcdoogins

I love all the 8 bit book clubs even if it is just torture for Murph sometimes.

Shane C

According to the Goosebumps wiki I found (with intricate decision maps that show the good and bad endings) if you said you can’t do 5 pushups you just got a bad ending

Apple Slapple

So excited that you guys finally got Jake on an 8-Bit Book Club!

HolyFatFish

OMG Emily I also had a parakeet that died on Christmas Eve! his name was Charlie and he was trying to squeeze through the bars of the cage to get to the tree so he can hang out in the tree but his neck got stuck. I was like six and since then no one of my family will ever get a real tree out of respect for Charlie

Ilana Galpert

I'm so impressed with this 34 year old, they're juggling so many plates

Maya B

EXPLAIN the 2 wisconsin and 1 Minnesota show -sincerely, a michigander (not close to Chicago either)

Ilana Galpert

also so sad that Caldwell's great Cakey Bird joke was passed over

Stella

Okay but who puts peanut butter in the fridge???

Hannah G.

That is kind of a wild pet death story RIP Charlie

HolyFatFish

thank you he was my first pet

Anni

If you buy natural peanut butter, it keeps the oil from separating and keeps it at a spreadable consistency.

Declane Gilhooley

Was way more into the cake talk then the book hahahqh,

Connor

I love their mad libs approach to these stories where they add a level of narrative to the story that makes absolutely no sense and gets increasingly baffling as they go. Also, I have thought about considering getting into cakes, would love to know if anyone else has been thinking about considering getting into cakes and how ones gets all the way to fully considering getting into cakes.

Claire

Makes me so happy that Caldwell brings up Aladdin so much. It’s my fav childhood movie! I would have killed for an Iago!

Will

It's always a tough decision to make – the decision to become a cake person – after a near death experience I recently decided it's time. I'm warming up with the classics vanilla, chocolate. But one day I hope to work up to a more daring red velvet or perhaps a more eclectic pumpkin.

Jamie Matthews

So excited for Cirque Du Soleil: The Gathering to come to my city so I can watch a Juggalo fight an elephant in person

Andrew Burgess

I heard that Zunesha reference Caldwell

Mushy

Just noticed the tiny Jake. Lol.

Tim

So I’ve been listening to old 8-bit book club as kind of a prequel to NADDPOD and there are several things that became NADDPOD staples that started as 8-bit book club things. Such as: - Caldwells love of collecting dads - Emily’s mispronunciation of “Jaina” - Ackerot and Bronzebeard - A love for page 69 - Applying DnD mechanics to non-DnD books - Emily’s love hate relationship with puzzles - Emily: “I would make my tits huge” - Rolling for horniness (Sonic) - Caldwell and Emily’s love of costumes - Fictional punishments for people who’ve wronged them - Stalagtite and stalagmite - Soul collecting via vehicles in hell (Twisted Metal) - Emily mentions “bringing people to the brink” - Talking about how they listen to video game music while working - Talking about “the light” (Kingdom Hearts) - Emily’s character liking to be naked (D&D monster madness) - Being confounded by simple math - Caldwell’s “creative” use of spells and abilities (ie, in “Monster Madness” Caldwell casts “detect thoughts” on a Sprite to get into their mind) - Rolling a lot of twos - Predator handshake - Caldwell: “we should start a Patreon so I can just draw for people on the subreddit” - mentions a character “keeping it tight” - The gang wonders what a wimple is - The Pendergreens voice - Caldwell love of halflings and hatred of gnomes - Emily wanting to be a Druid - Separating dwarves into Nobel houses - Caldwell mentions wanting to get a P.O. Box - Caldwell’s robot voice

I must say that the consistent stream of "excuse me"s from Jake was top 10 naddpod bits for me. I just couldn't stop laughing

Chris

Don't worry Caldwell I understood your one piece reference "we could form a rogue nation on the back of the elephant"

Darion Aronson

This series has made me want to start rereading goosebumps I found a copy of the first choice book they made to read which was 80s or 90s I think

Sweet potato

I was totally making my first cake from scratch when listening to this....

Bee

This was my absolute FAVORITE as a kid!

Andrew G

I was too lol that was so goddamn funny

Andrew G

Oh my God I forgot about the wimple; and Monster Madness had me in tears. I'm laughing right now remembering the fucking badger that Emily described as having dementia for the effect of an illusion spell, where it keeps waiting for its kids to visit it but they never call 🤣

CommodoreBlue

I actually read this one as a kid. What a throwback

CommodoreBlue

Guess you guys called the Boeing thing 🤷‍♂️

Mynne Maxine

They actually made a book about a national scandal, and they made a podcast about that scandal

Blobby5678

Jake has concepts of a plan for cake

The No. 2 Show

Just cake for Jake, no pie for that guy.

Scrumblina Brumblina

Relistening to the genesis of Cake Hurwitz while baking a chocolate cake. Feels like a momentous occasion for me.
