Wait, that’s actually a great merch idea.

This might be an awful question, but I'm very curious: what do Zoos and other facilities due with an animal when it's died? I'm especially curious about large animals like elephants, hippos, animals that can't even be moved easily. Also is it normal to do, like, an autopsy? Do Vets just handle this whole thing?

I just read today about one of the whale sharks in the Georgia Aquarium, Taroko, that was euthanized due to "medical and behavioral decline despite veterinary care interventions." They said they're planning on doing a necropsy to see what may have played a role in the medical decline and to further study whale sharks. I can't imagine what system they use to get them considering the tanks are gigantic, but they have manta rays, belugas, and whale sharks so it must be something crazy

I agree with Maya on how it'd be the best time to have bears in your backyard, I would be recording so much like they did, but all I could think about was the chemicals used to clean pool water affecting the bears

Here is a link to the study with monkeys, grapes and cucumbers: Monkeys reject unequal pay (https://www.nature.com/articles/nature01963). Also, here is a link to TED talk of one of the researchers: Moral behavior in animals (https://www.ted.com/talks/frans_de_waal_moral_behavior_in_animals). The researcher also wrote a book about this: The Bonobo and the Atheist: In Search of Humanism Among the Primates - In this lively and illuminating discussion of his landmark research, esteemed primatologist Frans de Waal argues that human morality is not imposed from above but instead comes from within. Moral behavior does not begin and end with religion but is in fact a product of evolution. (https://www.amazon.com/The-Bonobo-Atheist-Humanism-Primates/dp/0393347796/)
