Last time, I finished painting the model, and this time I’d like to make it movable. Since the model currently only contains the bones used before the modifications, I’ll add bones as needed to achieve the desired results. The image below shows the model before the additions.

I added bones to the knife and handgun.

I also added bones to the assault rifle.

I’ll attach bones to the clothing and hair.

As it stands, the clothing won’t follow the bones, so I’ll set up the weights to determine how closely they follow them. This is called weight painting. It’s a task that many modelers dislike. I dislike it, too.

First, I painted the assault rifle. Let’s check the movement. There were many parts of this gun that I couldn’t figure out even after researching, so I set it up to move in ways I imagined it would.

You can watch the wip videos from a link in the following link.

I also applied weight painting to the knife and handgun. Since these were easier to research, I think their movements are mostly accurate. Though I did have to use some imagination...

Finally, I applied weight painting to the body and clothing. It was a pain to paint them without any gaps. (Well, since any gaps will become less noticeable once I shrink them with Shape Key in the end, I guess this will do.)

Now the body can move freely.

Let’s try posing it to see how it looks.

I haven’t created any facial expressions yet, so I only moved the eyes.

That’s all for the modeling progress.

Next up is my drawing progress. Last week I had finished the 20th illustration, but this week I finally managed to sketch roughs up to the 26th one. Apparently, the current practice method involves finishing only the first three of these within the next two to three weeks. I’ve got a long way to go, don’t I?

Next is the setup for the digestive tract in VRChat. I struggled with it so much that I didn’t take any screenshots. I’m almost done with the setup, so I can tell you that I should be ready to release it soon.

That’s all for this update.
