Chapter 78: Enter My Treasure Tower, and I Shall Grant You Fortune

“It still needs a tower name with some class.”

Lu Yuan looked at the wooden tower amid the drifting peach blossoms and felt that something was still missing.

With a thought, he arrived beside Little Paper Man.

Little Paper Man was still working hard at attempting push-ups. Its white paper arms bent, snapped, then it stood up and automatically recovered, repeating the cycle again and again.

Sensing Lu Yuan’s summons, Little Paper Man stopped exercising and came into the peach grove.

Lu Yuan had it tear three paper slips from its body: one square slip and two long slips.

Then he had Little Paper Man, whose calligraphy had reached great accomplishment, leave words on the paper slips according to his instructions.

On the long slips, the one on the left read, “Enter my treasure tower,” while the one on the right read, “and I shall grant you fortune.”

On the square slip were three large words: “Immortal Fate Tower.”

After the writing was done, Lu Yuan was just about to have Little Paper Man paste the slips onto the wooden tower when he turned and saw the Treasure-Seeking Tower stretching out its arms, scooping up a handful of peach blossoms, and putting them inside itself.

“Behave yourself and stay still. Can you keep up your own sense of class?”

“Your current identity is a tower of immortal fate that has appeared inside a secret realm. Stop acting like you’re rummaging through trash everywhere!”

Lu Yuan lectured the Treasure-Seeking Tower with his divine sense. The wooden house tilted its wide, flat head downward slightly, nodding to show it understood.

“It doesn’t matter if you move around normally, but if cultivators, demonic beasts, or weird entities enter the secret realm, you can’t move around carelessly.

“Otherwise, what if you scare away the leeks—no, the guests?”

“As long as someone enters your body, I’ll reward you with treasures. You will grant them different things according to my requirements.”

Lu Yuan planned for the Treasure-Seeking Tower to bestow different levels of spiritual herbs, cultivation methods, and the like upon cultivators, demonic beasts, and weird entities after they brought rewards to the cave abode.

In any case, to the Treasure-Seeking Tower, low-grade spiritual herbs, materials, and such were dispensable things. It only needed to take them into its body to satisfy its collecting habit.

Keeping too many was useless, especially cultivation methods. If Lu Yuan had not required otherwise, it would have thrown out all those cultivation-method jade slips.

As for high-grade spiritual herbs, ritual implements, and so on, it was not impossible to distribute them either. Of course, the prerequisite was that the cultivators and demonic beasts had to bring the cave abode obviously greater rewards.

Cultivators and weird entities would obtain spiritual herbs, ritual implements, talismans, and the like. The Treasure-Seeking Tower would obtain the rewards I give it, along with the aura of treasures on the cultivators entering the tower. The cave abode would obtain all sorts of light orb rewards.

Everyone would have a bright future.

After instructing the Treasure-Seeking Tower, Lu Yuan had it stretch out its arms and paste the three paper slips onto the wooden tower.

“It’s just that these white paper slips look a bit gloomy and sinister. They somewhat ruin the atmosphere of the treasure tower.”

Lu Yuan’s divine sense circled the wooden tower once and made his evaluation.

Everything was ready. Next came quietly waiting for those with fate.

In less than two days, a giant bee arrived in the peach blossom grove.

The giant bee was pitch-black from head to toe, its body covered in sharp spines.

The giant bee was called a Spine Bee. It normally lived by sucking tree sap and was a kind of unranked exotic beast.

Recently, for some unknown reason, the trees near the bee colony’s nest had been chopped clean away, causing the colony’s food supply to plummet. The bees were so hungry they could barely fly.

This Spine Bee had no choice but to change its habits, widen the range where it fed, and search everywhere for trees.

In a muddled daze, the Spine Bee entered the peach grove.

Just as it was about to stab its sharp spine into a peach tree, a huge wooden tower suddenly appeared before it.

The wooden tower was over one zhang tall, with three gloomy white paper slips pasted on it. The Spine Bee could not read and only felt that the wooden tower had an extraordinary attraction to it.

So it flapped its wings and flew to the wooden tower’s front doors.

The doors of the wooden tower quietly opened, and the huge Spine Bee burrowed inside.

Lu Yuan’s divine sense returned to the stone cave and touched the rewards brought by the exotic beast Spine Bee.

A small spiritual energy light orb, several ordinary sharp spines that could be used to refine needle-type ritual implements. Completely unremarkable.

The Treasure-Seeking Tower sensed Lu Yuan’s command, and its tower body trembled gently.

Three spirit liquid beads appeared before the Spine Bee.

The Spine Bee seemed unable to believe it and did not react for a long while. After some time, it swallowed one spirit liquid bead into its belly.

Sensing the dense, pure spirit energy that the spirit liquid bead brought into its belly, the Spine Bee swallowed the other two spirit liquid beads without hesitation.

After it had absorbed all three spirit liquid beads, the Spine Bee stayed inside the wooden tower, flying here and there as it searched for traces of more spirit liquid beads.

“You brought this kind of light orb reward and still have the nerve to stay inside the wooden tower?”

The Treasure-Seeking Tower sensed Lu Yuan’s mood and directly spat the Spine Bee out.

The Spine Bee was unwilling to give up and kept buzzing around the wooden tower.

The Treasure-Seeking Tower’s doors remained firmly closed, letting the Spine Bee fly around it.

The fate between you and me has ended. Go on, go on.

But the Spine Bee’s intelligence was low, and it was still stubbornly fixated on one thing. Unable to find any spirit liquid beads, it cried out even more urgently.

“You’re not going to stop, are you?”

In the end, Lu Yuan truly could not bear the disturbance, so he ordered the Treasure-Seeking Tower to stretch out an arm and smack it out of the peach grove with a slap.

What Lu Yuan did not expect was that the Spine Bee soon returned, and it even brought a large swarm of Spine Bees with it. Their buzzing cries instantly made the cave abode much livelier.

The many Spine Bees arrived in the peach blossom grove and all entered the Treasure-Seeking Tower’s body together.

One Spine Bee was entering for the second time, while the others were entering for the first time. All at once, several dozen small white light orbs appeared inside the stone cave.

Unfortunately, most of them were spiritual energy light orbs. The spirit energy scattered and merged into the high-grade spirit realm, and Lu Yuan could not feel any change at all.

The rewards opened from the remaining few light orbs were ungraded spiritual herbs and spiritual medicines, as well as some low-level materials.

Since there were no surprises among the rewards, the fortunes were naturally even fewer.

What appeared before the bee colony were several dozen spirit liquid beads.

The most abundant thing inside the cave abode was Spirit Firefly Grass, and its stockpile of spirit liquid beads could be described as massive. This was just right for getting rid of some of them.

After the bee colony absorbed the spirit liquid beads, they were still driven out of the tower by the Treasure-Seeking Tower.

Unexpectedly, however, the colony set up camp in the peach grove from then on, occasionally flying out of the cave abode to forage.

The rewards had not been much to begin with, and after repeated entries, they became even scarcer. Lu Yuan casually sent them off with a few spirit liquid beads.

Slowly, the fortune decreased from an initial average of two spirit liquid beads to an average of one, then kept falling until it averaged less than half a bead.

The scarce and unevenly distributed spirit liquid beads caused the bee colony to fall into a struggle over them. They fought to the death, and in the end, the last two or three were sucked clean by the Blood-Devouring Vine.

Lu Yuan quietly watched everything happen from beginning to end.

Some time later, the Treasure-Seeking Tower welcomed its first cultivator.

Qi Yuan dragged his battered body to the front of the wooden tower.

There was a massive wound at his waist, so deep it reached the bone and had almost split his entire body in two.

But Qi Yuan did not dare spare any extra attention, because compared to that wound, there was something even more serious on his body.

His cheeks and neck were covered in cracks like those of porcelain. From time to time, flesh buds crawled out of the cracks and licked the fresh muscle around them.

Qi Yuan, however, was utterly helpless against it, his face ashen.

This time, he and his companions had come to the wilderness, only to encounter an Aberrant Grade Aberration halfway there.

The instant they met, nearly half the group died at once. Although he was lucky enough to escape with his life, he was not much different from dead.

He was heavily injured, his ritual implement was damaged, he had no talismans left, and his body had been contaminated by the Aberration. Yet he did not even have a single Purification Talisman on him anymore.

Qi Yuan chose a direction and fled all the way here. Looking at the peach blossom grove ahead, wreathed in white mist, he gave a bitter laugh.

“Before I die, I suppose I at least get a decent burial place.”

He slowly entered the peach grove, and a tower over one zhang tall appeared before him.

“Immortal Fate Tower?”

“Enter my treasure tower, and I shall grant you fortune.”

Qi Yuan looked at the words on the three gloomy white paper slips on the wooden tower and softly read them aloud.
