What about you? How big of a stickler are you for keeping your cards in good condition?

I like to keep them sleeved if they are getting played. And I never keep open bottles of liquid near my cards.

Cards, yes; sleeves no. Being a store, I understand the importance of keeping cards NM, but I still aggressively riffle shuffle my sleeved decks (especially when playing tournaments), and I eat and drink while playing with them all the time XD.

It hurts me to see someone playing a deck unsleeved, and I'll often go to the storefront and buy 100 penny sleeves and tell them to sleeve up their deck :P

Of course I prefer best condition, but I do relate to the second panel. I like the idea of cards that have seen multiple games with different owners and that they maybe traveled a lot. Seeing someone play unsleeved really hurts... Double sleeved in boulder box, more expensive ones in sealable sleeves. And always that steady fear when liquids are somewhere around.

For whatever reason I've never seen cleaning a card as something that improves a grade. To me, a cleaned HP card is still HP, not MP or LP.

I prefer to use mine, but i always sleeve them

jack

Fair enough, but penny sleeves are really slidey

Rose

They are, but I can't afford anything better to give away, sadly, and they sure are better than nothing.

I did not know that cards could be cleaned with acetone, thank you. I have a few that I have acquired that need a little tlc. I keep all of my mythic and rare cards in Dragon Shield "penny sleeves" even when they are in binders, which I keep them in when not in a deck. I personally don't like the name of "penny sleeves" when they cost more than a nickel or dime for each.

The acetone is only for white border cards, because it will take the ink right off the card! So you have to be super careful. I don’t trust myself to do this!

Cardboard Crack

Yeah, I don't know how I would even shuffle very well without sleeves.

Cardboard Crack

Yeah, it depends on how carefully you're used to looking. Many times a card may look "clean" but once you see the surface, you know it's HP!

I have a lot of friends who like to play at bars. It is so scary being around all that liquid!

Cardboard Crack

Yeah, I usually double sleeve, but I do have a habit of riffle shuffling. I have to remember to be more "nice" when I borrow my friends' decks.

Cardboard Crack

I can't imagine ever playing without sleeves--even just for the convenience of shuffling.
