"Pox" Legacy deck (Patreon)
Content
I don't get a chance to get out and play much paper Magic these days. Between COVID and just having a family, I'm usually just playing MTGO/Arena on my computer or Cube/Commander with my son. I do have a lot of old decks that I built in the past, and I've never had a good reason to break them apart. So I thought it might be fun to share some of these on Patreon.
The first is my "Pox" deck. I used to love playing Pox back in the day. Around the time of Urza's Saga and later Mercadian Masques, I had a deck that featured Pox plus four Yawgmoth's Will (can you imagine that four Yawgmoth's Will used to be Standard legal?!) and even used Urza's Bauble to get extra value out of the Will. My only creatures were either Nether Spirit or Steel Golem.
These days, you can't use Yawgmoth's Will in Legacy. And Pox isn't as powerful as it used to be. We now have Liliana of the Veil, which is basically like Pox but better, and there's Smallpox as well. So I built a "Pox" deck, but without Pox. The deck is completely black border, and Alpha/Beta black cards just look awesome because they're so dark. The deck honestly isn't that great in Legacy because it's just too easy for people to hide their threats with Brainstorm, and a lot of decks are just too fast. But it's fun for me to play since it hearkens back to those Pox decks I used to enjoy so much.
Here's an image of the deck. I figured you didn't need to see all 60 cards, but let me know if you'd prefer seeing the whole deck rather than me just showing a few of the sweetest cards, as I did here.
Edit: Okay, you twisted my arm. Here's the full deck.
I generally like my basic lands to all match, but this wasn't as big of a deal to me early on. You can see I have a combination of APAC, Alpha/Beta, and even some "Arena" lands (a different Arena from the digital one we know today).
This deck could probably be better tuned. For example, I don't know if I really need 4 copies of Cursed Scroll. Hope you enjoyed this look at one of my old decks. I try to post some more in the coming days to weeks.
