Zendikar Rising Draft 2 (Patreon)

Last night I did another Zendikar Rising draft on Arena. My two favorite draft achetypes are Wizards and Kicker, so I figured, why not be greedy and draft both? Here was the resulting deck.

I couldn’t believe all the removal I got: three Into the Roil, two Roil Eruption, Bubble Snare, and even a Tazeem Roilmage to replay them. Then three Umara Mystics apply a lot of pressure and I’ve already said it, but Roost of Drakes is so good. At the very worst it’s a 2/2 flyer for 4, but with a few kicker spells it’s so much more.

The only drawback of this deck was it didn’t have enough early threats. But if I could withstand the early rush (like from a Warriors deck) I would bury my opponent in tempo and card advantage later in the game. Just check out this board state when my opponent conceded one game. This was pretty common.

The crab was especially helpful for holding down the ground and then I would just Into the Roil the opponent's flying creatures over and over to make way for my flying creatures.

My only losses were to a cleric deck with a bunch of life gain and tokens (I had trouble when decks went wide) and to getting badly manascrewed (this deck needs a lot of mana with all the kicker spells). So I guess my greediness paid off, because I ended up 7-2. I even got some mythic wild cards in my packs, so it was a good night!
