Yesterday's comic revisited (Patreon)

Yesterday's comic went through quite a few iterations, so I thought it would be fun to share them.

The original comic idea was quite a bit racier than the final comic I decided to post publicly. Here's the original version:

You can see here that the two protagonists are about to get into bed together, and honestly I'm not sure what role the card frame was going to play next.

Anyway, I eventually decided I didn't want to go in this direction. So updated the last panel as you can see here:

You can see I updated the last panel to be a romantic dinner rather than just before jumping into bed. This gave some feeling of a romantic relationship without the sexual undertones.

You might also notice that the card frame in the final panel here is the artifact frame. I initially chose this because it was one of the frames that are especially different in comparison to the modern card frame. The problem was that the frame was much too dark. This made me try a few other frame.

The next frame I tried was the green one:

This looked okay, but again I was worried about how easy it would be to read. The card frame is so dark, it's hard to make out all the details.

Finally, i tried the blue card frame:

What I liked here was that the card frame has nice textures that are easy to read in black and white. In the end, this was the version of the comic that I decided to post publicly.

Hope you found this interesting. There's a huge variance in the amount of time it takes me to do comics. Sometimes the punchline comes to me immediately, and other times I can spend weeks slowly updating and crafting the best punchline I can.
