How are you enjoying the Commander Masters previews? Are you a fan of the profile cards? Did you see the cycles of retro border basic lands?

The retro basics are amazing! The profile full art is ok. I know a lot of the artists worked hard on them though so I'm not gonna knock it, but it didn't blow me away.

I think this will be the first time I don't buy any product or go to events the price it outrageous I'm not participating in them doing that.

When I saw the Kozilek profile art I was like, WTF is that?

Yeah, that one made me laugh because it's hard to tell what I'm even looking at.

The profiles are sorta hit and miss for me. Some are nice but overall feels weird to use so much of the space of a full art card on a solid color.

Basically the profile art is a miss for me. Art is supposed to evoke memories or feelings, either a sense of grandeur or loneliness or chaos or happiness or mystique and so on, but these profile frame art do no such thing. The characters in them show no expression, have no contextual background and are basically just police mug shots. They feel like homework done in a day that is not yet touched up nor final, like the MH2 sketch art.

I think these are supposed to be a homage to some pop art that uses supehero profiles. I can't find the link now, but I'll let you know if I find it.

But overall I agree with you. It feels like wasted space to have a full art card but a lot of the spaces is just a solid bright color.
