How many of you play Magic with your children? My kids have never gotten as obsessed as me, but they both learned when they were around five and my son still likes to play Commander quite a bit.

My dad on the other hand was the kind of guy to arrive home with a six pack after work every day and fall asleep on the couch by 9pm.

I don't think I ever shared a hobby with my parents, but luckily for me I have a partner who enjoys magic just as much as I do, honestly they probably like it more since they're the reason I got into it myself hehe. Sounds amazing your kids took a chance even if you're still the bigger fan ❤️

My parents never got into magic, but I did play the LOTR card game with my dad for a while.

I feel completely called out by the kids in the last pannel.

I played Dark/3ED – STH, had my "dark ages" until M10 in 2009 when Scouts were playing 60 card casual on picnic tables wearing headlamps during camping trips. First EDH 2010 Drana, Kalastria Bloodchief vampires. Moved to Commander + drafts/pre-releases exclusively in 2013. Son has been playing ~14 years now, is definitely the better card player and has more (finished) decks than me, but I have a way deeper library. Trying to get him interested in PDH Pauper Commander.

My kid is 6 and is slowly learning to play. She doesn’t have the patience yet for a full game of EDH. (Chatterfang deck) My parents only played Chess, Risk, or Stretego with me, and complained if I was on an electronic device for more than 10 minutes.

It's been about a year (M30 Vegas last October) since my daughter (now 9) seriously played some games of Old School with me, but she does love regularly playing other board games and card games (Dungeon Mayhem is actually a great D&D-based card game with a lot less complexity/setup than anything MtG). She's definitely a gamer (video games included), and loves art (drawing, painting), so I'm just happy that we'll have some hobby overlap as she grows up.

EDH is pretty hard for first time players. When my kids started I made them one and then two color decks consisting on just creatures and simple spells.

That's awesome to hear. Sounds like your daughter has played with more power than me!

Is this the LOTR game from the movie or the one that came out before with the cute drawings? I have a few decks of the later, but I can't remember for the life of me what the rules are!

Cardboard Crack

That's cool to hear. Learning about new hobbies and other things is one of the funnest things about having a partner.

It was the one with all the movie art. You had a hero deck and a villain deck and the exact details beyond that I forget because it's been 15-20 years since I touched it XD
