Kiof did also say racial slurs 💔💔💔

es

i’ll be honest kiof went way out of bounds and their “imitation” crossed the lines to microaggressions. I couldn’t blame those who were angry. It was a shame because they had potential. To each their own but that’s just my opinion.

es

they also put beomgyu billboard up too actually along with the soobins losing video!!

ValenandTheo

We don't really believe in any of the microaggression concept at all. Growing up in the 2000's it's crazy how humor that would have been normal in the year 2006 is now cause for trying to end people's career. Basically everyone we know does stuff that is worth cancelation (according to a sub-section of western k-pop fans 24/7). That's why we've made a bunch of videos on YT just critiquing Western K-pop fan cancel culture.

ValenandTheo

While singing the lyrics of a song. That's a pretty important detail. Rap has got lyrics that are worse than the N-word. Like talking about pimping out women, mudering people and drug dealing which is infintely worse than an edgy slur that's now practically inescapeable thanks to the mainstream-ification of hip-hop culture. But alas that's apparently perfectly fine to sing about in 2026.

.

Oh okay. I’m going to unsubscribe now…😃

ValenandTheo

Well that's fine but it's a legit question. Do you believe that's it's worse to sing the actual lyrics of a song than to make lyrics glorifiying the perpetual cycles of violence within an impoverished community?

.

I don’t need to choose what’s worse. One being wrong doesn’t make the other okay. I’m really sad cause I was telling another community about how much I enjoy u guys :(

ValenandTheo

Well you already did chose what's worse according to your own decisions to essentially "cancel us" in your own life by going "I find the edgy word" worse than glorification of violence" which again is everywhere within the world of hip-hop. Again though we've been super clear that we're not the cancel culture types throughout pratically all of our content so that's on you but nonetheless thanks for the support and we hope you have a good time.

.

I didn’t choose anything. 😭how is me saying Koreans shouldn’t be using racial slurs justifying lyrics from rappers? I feel like what you mentioned is a separate discussion that should definitely be had! But right now I’m talking about non black people using the n word.

ValenandTheo

So let's say we would've said "TXT, KIOF or another group singing some trap lyrics is fine that doesn't bother me" would you also have decided that this would be cause to view us as people you'd no longer want to support or associate with?

.

If any group I enjoy sang lyrics with violence against women or pimping like you mentioned, I’d withdraw my support so fast. I take things like that seriously😅 if you guys justified singing such lyrics, I’d do the same thing and unsub. I know that hypocrisy is common amongst kpop fans but I can assure you that I’m not one of them lol

ValenandTheo

Well I mean fans that withdraw support at the first point of disagreement with a creator/artist isn't usually the kinds of fans that stay anyhow so c'est la vie. We want people to disagree with us at times too because we think that they have nuance and are open to different perspectives which thankfully does include 99.9% of supporters. It's honestly not even nice as a creator to have fans that leave the minute they don't like something you can't build a fanbase with people like that.

ValenandTheo

We've got a lot of Black fans that are totally cool with our view on this topic. Valen's dad is Black too for that matter.

.

yeah I get that we’re not all going to feel the same way. Kiof still have black fans too, to each their own

ValenandTheo

Sure, but you get my point. At no point are we saying that throwing any kind of abuse at anyone is okay. Of course, that’s unacceptable behavior. We have experienced plenty of racial abuse, either because Valen is a multiracial Latina, because Theo is white, or because we are in an interracial relationship. Obviously, we are against any kind of behavior like this. What we are talking about is artistic expression, and in terms of artistic expression we are very liberal in the actual sense of freedom of expression. We cover an international genre with a lot of gay people, and our fans are from around the world, so obviously we don’t run around with some sort of deep-rooted hatred for anyone. It’s literally as simple as artistic expression being important, and we don’t believe in cancel culture which, mark our words, won’t age well in the future.

to each their own but i’ve seen plenty of black people that aren’t okay w it (im not black but south asian so i can’t really speak on it and speak for them) and honestly the 2000s was an extremely toxic era in terms of race and much more and although i do believe cancel culture can be very extreme (death threats etc) i feel as if people withdrawing support for people whose values don’t align or to those who do something someone considered offensive is perfectly fine but yeah it’s up to the individual to draw limits at the end of the day.
