This is a short drabble that features a zombie boy, and is based on this lil quote/post from Tumblr that I saw this morning.  It features a little bit of gore: nothing icky or bloody though. Featuring Nick the zombie, and his fire demon best friend, Cal.

*hurriedly trying to shove my intestines back into my body* i cant show up like this! im gonna be late!

“Oh shit no, not again,” he whined as he took his t-shirt off, ruffling his scruffy black hair, and felt that awful ripping sensation. Looking down at his torso he could see that the old (and actually fatal) wound in his stomach had apparently chosen that precise moment to open up. More accurately, he’d forgotten to go and get his replacement stitches done three days earlier, and the next appointment with the nurse at the zombie clinic wasn’t til the next day. There was no viscous mess or anything, but the sight of his innards becoming his… out-ards was always disconcerting, even for a long-time zombie.

As he began hurriedly trying to shove his intestines back into his body, he heard his phone ringing, and so he continued re-stuffing his abdomen one handed like he was some horrific, green build-a-bear, and picked up the phone. “Yeah?” he rasped.

“Nick, mate, come on, where are you? I’m standing outside and it’s fucking freezing!”

He shuffled to the window and peered out, seeing his best friend bouncing on the balls of his feet. His scarlet tail lashed behind him and the flame that usually burned bright at the tip of his tail was looking decidedly small in the biting winter night.

“I… I’m having… some cosmetic issues…” Nick panted. “I’m sorry…”

“You need a hand?”

“Unless you can weld my torso back together again with a fire spell, I’m not sure how much help you can be…”

“Let me in.”

When Cal saw the extent of the issue, he bit his lip, his sharp, demonic canines nearly puncturing his red skin. “Oh boy,” he chuckled.

Nick turned his blue eyes on him, looking up at him pathetically, one green-skinned hand over his stomach. “I can’t show up like this…”

“You got some duct tape? I’m sure we can make this work…”

With Nick’s torso bound up like he was wearing a futuristic corset, the two best friends left the apartment, only twenty minutes late.

Standing outside the house party, music thumping, base buzzing in his ears, Nick looked up at his friend and felt his cold heart clench.

“You ok?” Cal asked, glancing down at him. His yellow eyes blazed and his black horns glimmered in the faint light from the house.

“Yeah,” he rasped. Taking a big, gulping breath for courage, he reached his fingers out and slipped them quietly into Cal’s palm. “Thanks.”

Cal’s expression didn’t change for a few awful seconds, but then his lips rose on the right hand side, revealing his double upper canines in a gorgeously lopsided grin. He squeezed Nick’s hand back.

He leaned down from his six foot three height and kissed Nick on his cheek, right above the hole which went right through and showed his teeth. “You ready?” Cal asked, pulling back and steadying the slightly swaying Nick by tightening his grip on his hand.

“Yeah,” he said. “Let’s go.”
