Ealjá is a näcken, a violin-playing water spirit who can transform into a white horse... On their face, they bear the tattoos of their fae origins, which mark them out as a Traveller, one who can turn the surface of water into a gateway to another world or another place. In their case, they can create portals to the Fae Realm.

They are gender fluid, and are pretty lonely in the part of the forest where they make their home. But one day, someone new stumbles across the small stretch of river where they sit playing their enchanting melodies on a rock in the centre of the stream...
