I briefly opened up drabbles yesterday on Discord, but by the time the requests had come in, I'd collapsed into bed, but here are the two that got prompted. The first is with Dairon, Mori's deaf tiefling boy. You can read his stories here (this one has awesome artwork by Mori on it!) and here.

“Hi,” you signed as he looked up and smiled softly at you, white hair falling into his warm eyes. “Good day?”

He nodded his antlered head. “Library was actually pretty busy for once,” he said, his hands and facial expressions indicating the extent of his surprise before he opened his arms and invited you to hug him.

You leaned your body against the warmth of his lean figure and hummed with contentment.

Dairon tapped you on the shoulder to get your attention again and you pulled back. “You want to go for a walk or something?”

“Honestly…” you said, shuffling slightly, “I kind of just want to curl up with you. Is that ok?”

He gave a hoarse, throaty chuckle and nodded. “Of course it is,” he said. “I made your favourite snacks too. You want some?”

Following him into the kitchen, you saw that he’d obviously been busy, and as you helped him carry some plates and a couple of drinks back out into the sitting room, he glanced back over his shoulder at you and flashed you a grin. “Ok?” he asked with his spare hand.

You nodded. “Oh, more than ok,” you said, having to vocalise the words given that your hands were full. He understood you perfectly, and smiled again. In the low light of the living room, his blue skin seemed almost grey, soft and smoky and calming, and as you sat down beside him on the sofa, he drew you close and pressed a kiss atop your head, his tail wrapping round behind you to give you an extra hug.

“I love you,” he said, his lips and rasping whisper adding to the sensory beauty of the particular way he signed.
