How about a mer-naga and a jungle Naga meeting in a Mangrove region (perhaps are surprised about their so different yet similar living or so?)
---
As she slid through the water, luxuriating in the slick, cool water of the mangrove swamps against her sides, she smiled and groaned softly. This was one of her favourite places to come on a hot afternoon, when the usually chilly waters of the coastal reaches were almost painfully cold, and she could lie entangled in the mangroves, basking in the sun.
Today, however, she was not alone, and she froze as she saw another naga slithering down from the trees to take a dip in the brackish water.
She scowled.
This naga was a land naga, for sure. She moved with a slow deliberateness that seemed almost clumsy, her patches of brown and cream mottled and matching the undergrowth of the distant jungle, her darkly tanned skin moving like shifting shadow over her thick muscles.
If the mer-naga slowed, she would sink, so she maintained her pace through the water, and the jungle naga looked up, startled. Her long brown hair fell in waves around her shoulders, and her hazel-green eyes glowed softly. “Oh,” she murmured softly, her plump lips forming an almost perfect circle for a moment.
“Hi,” the other naga replied, smiling. Her hair was green and also flowed loose down her back, and her body was flecked with weed-like markings that helped to disguise her in the shallows.
“Hi,” the first naga said softly. “Who… Who are you?”
“My name is Anahita,” she said. “You?”
“Salandra,” she replied, and the mer-naga was instantly smitten.
“What are you doing here?” Anahita asked, sliding sinuously through the water, avoiding the floating weeds and vegetation with ease.
She seemed nervous, hesitant, despite her large muscles and thick serpentine body. “I… I like the water,” she said.
“Really? I thought you folks kept to the trees,” Anahita laughed, and was met with a warm chuckle from her new friend.
“Most of us do,” she admitted, slinging her body slowly down into the shallows.
Anahita felt the ripples of her impact hit the delicate, sensitive sides of her body and she stifled a groan. “But you don’t?”
Salandra shook her head. “I like to bathe here. What are you doing so far inland?” she asked, her voice turning a little sultry once she realised that the strange mer-naga was not an immediate threat.
“I like the shallows,” she said, rolling slowly over onto her back and letting her fingers trail through the water at her sides. “It’s warm, and there are fewer currents to sweep you away while you sleep in the sun.”
“You have to tie yourself to a root,” Salandra said, knotting her thick, brown and cream tail around a nearby mangrove root and rolling onto her back as well. “Or find a companion to lash yourself to, like a raft…”
Anahita grinned at her and held out her hand. “Are you offering?”
