“I know it’s not much,” he said as he held the little bunch of fragrant sweet peas between his clawed finger and thumb as he stood nervously at your front door. 

His large, rounded ears pricked forwards as he watched your reaction, and his short, stumpy tail began to wag as the smile dawned on your face. 

“They’re perfect,” you beamed and a tiny yip of happiness left him as you moved to one side to let him inside. 

He sniffed the air and whined luxuriantly, turning back to face you and bringing his leathery hands to his stomach as he said, “I’m going to get fat if you keep treating me to food like this; it smells amazing!”

“You deserve it,” you told the gnoll, petting his soft fur and listening to the quiet, almost feline purring rumble he gave as he tilted into your touch with a dopey smile on his handsome face.
