One more story to go! Here's a slice of life with a special occasion thrown in too. I wanted to include an established relationship in this series, and this is the one I chose. I hope you like her. Also, if you've not seen a rainbow boa before, they're really pretty!!
If you’d gone to visit her in the shop that day, neither of you would ever have got anything done. That was just a fact.
But you’d finished work much earlier than you’d originally planned, closing up the quaint little bookshop across town and coming back through the market. Nevann’s favourite thing in the whole world was grapes, but they were hard to come by in this part of the world. Fortunately, the castle just outside town had an enchanted glasshouse which grew them, but the vines didn’t produce fruit all year round; they were enchanted, but not that productive. Still, when they were in season, they were the largest, fattest, sweetest grapes in the whole country, and sometimes the head gardener would allow a small portion of the crop to be sold in the town’s market.
It was the last day of July, the amongst the hottest on record, and as you passed by the market stall of an elf selling a staggering array of different flavours of granita, stored in enchanted vats, you paused to get one. There was no way you could get one home for Nevann without it melting, but you could definitely enjoy one in the late afternoon sun. Meandering on through the market, the small cardboard cup of granita in your hands, you caught sight of a small knot of people gathering around another stall, and your feet found their way there easily enough.
Leonuen, a satyr and the head gardener up at the castle, was selling little woven baskets full of grapes. With his steely grey hair swept back off his face and around his enormous, curving ram’s horns, he cut an impressive figure - much larger and stockier than many satyrs, reminiscent of a bighorn sheep. He certainly had the hardheadedness needed to deal with the crowd of people gathering around his stall in the heat like summer moths around a lantern.
You joined the line behind the tiniest centaur you’d ever seen, and were quickly followed into the queue by a very sleepy looking albino chiroptid. Their bat-like body was just about as fluffy as anything you'd ever seen in your whole life, and they chittered a soft, sleepy greeting at you when you happened to glance round. Their nose and ears were so pink that you might have worried about them getting sunburn if you hadn’t suspected that they’d only crawled out of bed to get their hands on some of these grapes.
Almost as large as plums, the grapes sweet and juicy, and because of their rarity, they weren’t cheap. You drew out your coin purse as you got to the front of the queue and paid the price Leonuen asked without balking, thanked him, and then hurried back home. As you passed by the window of the apothecary where Nevann worked you glimpsed her talking to a stoop-backed old minotaur, and decided to keep going. She’d smell the grapes on you if you went in now anyway, and you wanted them to be a surprise.
It was your three year anniversary that night after all.
When Nevann finally slithered through the front door about an hour later, you heard her sigh, and hurried out to the hallway to meet her. When she saw you, her face melted from a slight frown to a joyous, open smile, and she drew forwards, ditching her satchel on the floorboards. Her long, wavy, brown hair was tied up in a messy bun, but strands had worked their way loose over the course of the day, and her completely black eyes glimmered. In the low light of the hallway, the iridescent sheen on her terracotta and tortoiseshell tail seemed all the more vibrant and beautiful.
You’d still been in bed when she’d left for work that morning, Nevann needing to prepare some distillations before the shop opened, so you hadn’t seen what she’d worn, but now that she was home, you grinned at her. “You’re wearing my favourite blouse,” you said.
“For you,” she said. “I wanted to make you breakfast before I left, but I spent too long snuggling you this morning…” She shrugged coyly and said, “I know you like this one.”
“I do…” you smiled. “Come here and kiss me again.”
“I’m all gross from work,” she moaned, but she leaned down and let you kiss her anyway.
“You're never gross,” you smiled between kisses.
Mostly she smelled of the herbs and powders she created and mixed for the various ailments with which her customers came in, looking for help. It wasn’t a wildly profitable business, but with your salary too, the pair of you did alright for yourselves.
Nevann rose up again, stretching her back and tail out briefly before she yawned and then frowned. “Why are you home early?”
“It’s our anniversary,” you said. “Glaivan said I could shut up shop early today.”
“That was nice of him. Almost like the old grouch actually has a heart,” she teased, surprising you by snaking her arms around your torso and picking you up. It never failed to make you flush when she showed you how strong she could be. You weren’t exactly some tiny, hollow-boned avian after all.
You looped your thighs around her human waist and let her steady, sideways rhythmic motion carry you to the bedroom. “You going to unwrap me now, then?” you asked with a snicker as she kissed your neck, making you shiver.
“Maybe?” she murmured. “Or maybe I’ll sssssave you for later,” she added with a sussurating hiss. You weren’t sure if it was deliberate or not, because sometimes the more worked up she got, the more she tended to lisp, but when you watched the way her forked tongue darted out, tasting the air, you knew it was probably accidental.
“I think I’m still all gross from work too,” you said, and she nodded, humming in agreement. “Let me have a bath, and then maybe we can think about something for dinner? You did tell me not to organise anything though…”
“I did,” she smiled. Her skin was a rich, dark, warm brown, and naga were not known for blushing easily, but as you kissed her neck in return, she gasped and her cheeks turned a beautiful dusky pink.
In between kisses, you drew back and said, “Have you got something planned then?”
“Maybe? Go and bathe first - you smell like dusty old books - and put on something smart. What you wore for my sister’s birthday last year should be fine…”
“Ominous…” you grinned. “Alright.”
She joined you in the modest living room about an hour later, wearing another favourite blouse of yours that revealed a bold ‘v’ of her flawless chest without being indecent, and which skimmed her waist where her human torso blended seamlessly into her snake tail in a way that made you constantly want to slide your fingers under it to feel the transition from scale to skin. “Ready?” she asked.
“Not sure what I should be ready for, but yes?” you chuckled warily.
“You’ll see. You look amazing,” she added, slithering forwards and kissing your cheek. “I half want to keep you here instead…” She was so tactile that it was a miracle either of you got out of the door that evening.
Drawing you through the town as the evening rolled around, the summer sky fading to a stunning display of pastels against the town’s rooftops, she slid your hand into hers and squeezed.
An orc with an half-elf on his arm strolled along towards you, and as he stepped aside to let you pass them, you felt Nevann’s fingers tighten briefly around yours. When you looked up, you found her black eyes locked on your face. “What?”
“Nothing,” she laughed.
“Go on, tell me,” you said, nudging your hip against her tail without breaking stride. The way the sunset light played off her iridescent scales was almost bewitching, and you knew that you would probably never get used to the way her beauty enthralled you. You hoped you wouldn’t, at any rate.
Still laughing softly, Nevann sighed and said, “Let’s just say that I hope they’re on their way home; those two aren’t going to last much longer…”
With a snort, you said, “Sometimes I’m really glad I don’t have your nose for things like that…”
In a fluid motion, she leaned down and kissed your neck, inhaling deeply through her mouth. “You have no idea what you do to me though,” she hissed softly in your ear. “What it’s like for me…”
“True,” you replied, feeling more than a little shaky.
At the lower end of the town stood a huge, silver lake. It filled the basin at the feet of three mountains, forming a glass-like mirror on calm evenings, with little fishing boats dotted along the shoreline and the lights of the braziers along the smoothly paved road glimmering in its surface. Most of the best restaurants and inns in the town had staked a claim on the shore, with one even boasting a private galley for special occasions and parties.
That night, the large boat was moored along the quayside, and the closer you go to it, the more suspicious you began to get. “Nevann…” you said, stalling.
With a smile, she also slowed and turned to look at you. “Yessss…” she hissed, deliberately this time.
“What have you been plotting?”
Her smile widened, showing off her sharp teeth in a way that you loved. “You’ll sssssee, come on.”
Nevann led you to the stone quay that curved out into the lake and as you walked along it you breathed in the fresh scents of the evening; the delicate, heady fragrance of the jasmine that was growing in terracotta pots along the quay, the cool, wafting of the water down here away from the press of buildings behind, and the faint smell of rose that came from the oils in Nevann’s hair. She wore it long that night, with the golden highlights catching in the evening sun, and it made you ache to touch it, to run your fingers through it and hear her moan happily at the touch.
A small drider stood at a small stand on the dock ahead, right next to where The Grebe was moored. “Good evening,” she smiled as Nevann slowed, indicating that you two were not simply out for a stroll along the cob that night.
“We have a reservation for seven,” she said.
A few minutes later, Nevann waved you ahead of her and you followed the dainty drider aboard the restaurant boat.
Over your shoulder, before you stepped out onto the open deck, you hissed, “This is seriously fancy, Nev!”
She just laughed. “You deserve it.”
The drider tactfully removed a chair so that Nevann could coil herself up in the space beside the table, and announced that she would return with menus shortly.
“I can’t believe you did this!” you said to her as you raised your glass to her a little while later.
“It’s not too much?” she asked, holding her wine but not drinking just yet. She looked more than a little worried, knowing that you and she came from different backgrounds.
And there you were with only a box of grapes for her… admittedly special ones, but still. You did feel a little awkward, but, hurrying to reassure her, you shook your head. “No. It’s just right. Any fancier though and I’d be lost.”
Her smile was significantly smaller at that, and you thought about the family she came from. As if following your mind’s little convoluted path, she chuckled softly and said, “I love that you don’t treat me any differently…”
“What, I don’t call you ‘m’lady’?” That earned you a roll of her eyes and a flick with the tip of her tail under the table.
That gesture seemed to give her the idea that she could spend the rest of the evening teasing you beneath the linen tablecloth, and you barely made it through the meal without making some kind of obscene noise.
Eventually you bit your lip and snarled very quietly, “Nev, if you don’t stop that, you’re going to cause some serious problems.”
Slowly raising her fork to her mouth and taking a modest bite, Nevann blinked innocently at you. “Trouble?”
“Mm…mph…” you replied as she caught you again with the tip of her tail and you almost lurched out of your seat. She’d been getting bolder and bolder throughout dinner, and now she was actually in danger of making you so worked up you could conceivably even come at the table if she kept at it. “Nev, please…” you gasped.
“Alright,” she said, backing off and coiling her tail around your ankle instead. “I promise to behave. But you look ssssso deliciousssss tonight, it will be hard…”
You rolled your eyes and tried to get on with enjoying the meal. It wasn’t exactly difficult to enjoy yourself, though your arousal did keep simmering away in the background the whole time. The scenery was stunning all around you, and was almost enough to keep your mind occupied while your body still roiled with the lingering memory and sensation of her touches. As the sun set over the water, Nevann sighed and reached for your hand across the table. “I love you,” she said. “I don’t think I say it enough.”
“You say it plenty,” you said, flushing with a touch of embarrassment. “And I think I’m the one that doesn’t say it enough…”
Her face glowed in the candlelight between you, and she said, “You’ve never treated me like the daughter of a noble lord, you know? You didn’t judge me for wanting to study alchemy and make something useful of myself.” She pursed her lips, as if maybe stifling tears, and blinked a few times. “I can’t tell you how much your support means to me.”
You gripped her hand. “You’re going to make me cry, you big sap,” you laughed. “I don’t think there’s anyone happier in this whole town than me, and that’s because of you, just so you know…”
When you were eventually done with the meal, she paid and followed you back off the boat and onto the solid stone of the jetty. It hadn’t occurred to you that you might have felt a bit seasick while eating, but the way the galley was moored kept rolling to a minimum.
“Come on,” she hissed. “I can’t wait to get you home.”
“What if I have something I want to give to you?” you grinned and she went still.
“Do you?”
You raised your eyebrows. “Yes. Were you not expecting me to have thought of you too?”
“Of course I wasn’t thinking that,” she snapped. “I just… I’m…”
Snorting you said, “You’re better at giving that receiving, I know.”
“You’re terrible,” she groaned. “Come on.”
You lost count of the number of times she stopped on the way back, lifting you against the smooth surface of a building to kiss you, groping you gently in a quiet cut-through alleyway, kissing you openly by the fountain in the marketplace for so long that a tengu who had been out for the evening actually tutted and left with a rustle of feathers, and finally tugging you into the coil of her tail and kissing you breathless on the doorstep of your own house and causing you to drop the keys to the ground beside you. “Sabotage,” you whispered and Nevann hissed playfully at you.
She seemed to change with the seasons, becoming sleepy and practically dormant in late autumn and winter, and waking up more and more with the passing of the year until in summer she could barely keep her hands off you. You didn’t mind, loving each of her moods from fiery and assertive to gentle and pliant; underneath it all she was the same strong, caring, sweet woman you wanted to spend the rest of your life with. Perhaps you might even propose soon… if she didn’t beat you to it, of course.
That evening it appeared that she was more than usually wound up. “Come on,” she said, snatching up the keys and thrusting them at you since you were still standing between her and the door.
It was an effort once you were back inside to get her to back off long enough for you to give her your gift. “Go to the bedroom,” you said more firmly this time, an idea forming. “I’ll bring it in.”
Her eyebrows rose, but she complied. When you joined her, you found her lying on her back on the large bed she’d had made for the two of you, her fingers sliding down towards the slit in her lower abdomen. Her beautiful blouse was unbuttoned and open, her breasts exposed, her muscular stomach clenching as she began to tease herself.
“You couldn’t wait, huh?” you said as you paused in the doorway and pretended to be completely unaffected by the display she was putting on for you. You knew you couldn’t fool her, that she would smell your arousal and the wetness that would soon become obvious against the fabric of your underwear. For now though, you had an advantage. When she got like this, she was unlikely to break off and get up, so if you stayed where you were, you could watch her without her dragging you down and kissing you senseless. You still had your small gift to give her after all.
“What’ssssss behind your back?” she gasped, her own back arching slightly off the bed as she caught a sensitive spot inside her slit.
“Slow down a bit, and I’ll show you,” you said evenly.
With a whine, she slowed the circular motions of her fingertips and you smiled.
“Close your eyes,” you said and she hissed at you, bearing her slightly longer canines. “And let’s have none of that,” you added, barely holding back your laughter. “Don’t be a brat…” You loved it when she was like this and she laughed good-naturedly.
Her thick, iridescent tail coiled lazily around itself, tying her up in knots as she slowly writhed on the bed and rucked the sheets up beneath her. “I want you,” she whispered as you stepped closer.
“Close your eyes,” you said again, and this time she did. You leaned down and planted a quick kiss on her full, beautiful lips. “Open your mouth,” you said as you drew back before she could latch onto you and distract you too much.
To your surprise, she complied, and you held a grape out, resting it on her lower incisors. Her forked tongue instinctively shot out and tasted it, and her eyes flew open. “They’re ssssselling them already?” she gasped, and then bit the huge grape in half, moaning deliciously.
You popped the second half in when she parted her lips again, and she let her eyes roll closed once more. “I’m never going to be able to taste one of these again without thinking of you feeding them to me,” she rasped.
“How about this?” you said, and once you’d set the small basket down on the table beside the bed, you plucked one more free of the bunch, and while you pressed it to her lips, you slid your fingertips into her slit.
She bucked gloriously and wrapped her tail around your waist, drawing you in close. You knew then that you wouldn’t be moving from there until she came. You took your time with her, ignoring your own arousal for the time being, stroking her and teasing her until she flung her arms out and gripped the sheets, pulling them into a tangle as she arched her spine and whined, “Please… oh godssssss, that’ssssss so good… I… I can’t… I… I need…”
The heat of her slit pulsed and you knew how close she was. You slid your fingers further into her, seeing a slight roughness on the inside of her walls while you leaned down and sucked a gentle kiss against her swollen clitoris at the top of the slit. Nevann cried out, her voice cracking, and as you crooked your fingers and circled rapidly over that place she loved, you sucked again and she came hard.
The powerful muscles of her tail contracted erratically, pulling and contorting her body as waves of pleasure swept through her in shuddering pulses. With her head thrown back, chin tilted up to the ceiling, she screamed her pleasure as you pressed your fingertips hard against her, prolonging her orgasm. Her clit throbbed beneath your tongue, the sweet saltiness of her coating your tongue.
It always took her a long time to come down, but when she finally began to relax, her muscles unclenching slowly, you withdrew your fingers from her tight heat and licked them clean while she watched.
“I love you,” she slurred, her voice barely audible.
“I love you too,” you smiled, lying down beside her.
“Give me a few minutes,” she whispered, “And then I’ll show you how much I love you…”
“You don’t need to do anything to prove that,” you replied, but when she looked pouty, you laughed and said, “I’m not complaining though. Not at all.” Reaching behind you for the bedside table, you tugged a grape free and offered it to her. “Grape?”
She swatted your hand aside and just laughed.
