Octomer Sea Witch (Patreon)

I hope you're keen to meet our next friend this Friday! This is Mottle, an octomer sea witch. Their pronouns are they (or he; gender doesn't really mean all that much to them), and they're a powerful witch who lives in Starfall Bay, not far from the old Starfall Castle where our reader ended up last week with Fáinn! 

They're a satellite member of the Starfall Coven, which I haven't really touched upon much before now, but we'll also meet Eli, who's an albino tiefling and one of the other very powerful members of the coven. Eli is one of the reader's close friends at the start of the story. 

Mottle wields a staff made of carved driftwood, topped with a frankly enormous enchanted pearl (visible in the second image). They are pretty big too, but still kind of wiry and lean rather than buff like Fáinn, and they're relatively young for an octomer, at around 30yrs old. They're known for their spellwork primarily, though they can brew a potion if necessary. Brewing potions in the sea is obviously impossible, so they will haul themselves out onto the beach to brew potions by campfire when they have to :). Octomer can survive out of water for longer than most other mer (except Selkies and Kelpies), but still they don't like to be too far from the ocean on the whole. However, Mottle has been known to attend some coven meetings in town, using a manual wheelchair to get about on land.
