Good morning TESD Town! Patreon is rolling out some new features over the next year and we are lucky enough to BETA test some of these new features. First up, Patreon is allowing us to post videos through their new video platform.

In the comments below, please post if you have any issues viewing the video. Things you like, things you dislike. Remember this is a BETA so don't be surprised if you encounter a bug.

Comments

Amanda

This might be my favorite TANSJS episode. 👏

Zach Blunk

I'm not seeing a casting option when the video is playing (Chromecast). Is this not an option with the Patreon platform or am I overlooking something?...... Or should I be contacting Patreon about this?

Mario B

Vimeo gives you the option to download the video, and I don't see that here. That would be a downside.

Remco Sondagh

I download the vids so I can watch them on my tv. So this is not wanted if no option to download

Bobby Peru

No download option is a big issue.

Jo Pay

Like Zach said, there's no cast option. If this was added, it would be brill as I prefer to watch on the TV

John MacDonald

The only issue I have with it is you can't download it.

Norm Smith

Love the content but moving forward I have to have the ability to cast to my TV.

Matt Carrico

Like a lot of other ants, I like downloading on vimeo. One issue I found that no one has mentioned yet, is if you have to quit watching for whatever reason before the episode is over, it starts over. If it could be made to pick up where you left off, that'd be awesome

James Randall

Works perfectly... Even in Australia

Adam Ruppe

It is working with Chrome on my windows laptop with no issues so far. Ant 4 life.

James Randall

But like the other Ants have said, downloads or streaming would be a sweet option

John Patton

If you want to Stream/Chromecast, it doesn't seem to be an issue to just open up Patreon in Chrome and stream the page. You should be able to go into full screen mode, no problem.

Daniel Major

Only issue I see is there isn’t any option to download the video to watch offline. That’s really the only option for me to watch since I don’t have service throughout the daytime.

Nicholas Galiotti

Just want to throw my voice in with others in regards to the lack of a download option. I like to download and place it on my Plex server. I really hope a download option still pops up for this episode as it would suck to have a hole in my collection!

Ryan

All seems fine if you want to watch it on the go...i personally prefer to stream it to chromcast and enjoy all 55 inches of sunday jeff 😂😂

Chris Loseke

Agreed. I am also a Plex Sunday Jeff viewer. I rarely watch right when it's released. I like to download and watch them later.

Austin Hasten

One more person saying I would need a download option.

Joe Totti

This worked great

Cheri Larkin

Seems to play find but I would like a download option.

kodax_shc

Not being able to download to watch offline is a killer for me.

Kevin McCullough

The lack of the download option like vimeo is the only real issue to me. I prefer to download and then watch these on my TV, plus its easier for me to organize the collection, as trying to dig through patreon for a specific episode can be hard. (or at least harder than Plex)

AJohnB

The convenience that is lost for me is not being able to watch them on the Vimeo app on my smart TV. That said, I know no longer using Vimeo may be a big money saver, so I can adjust.

Cephiel

I prefer the app integration. It works smoother when I go to another app while it plays and still allows me to AirPlay it to the TV. Plus, no passwords is a nice thing; I would imagine it also helps from people sharing the Vimeo link and password.

Justin Roe

Watching on my phone. The screen keeps timing out unless I tap the screen. I exited a few times to see if it would stop but after 30 seconds my screen starts to go dark.

Edward T Yeatts III

The video seems to play fine, but I prefer to watch all my Patreon content on my TV and not on my laptop or phone. That's why I prefer the Vimeo option because I can watch it via the Vimeo app on my Roku. Like others, I, too, would like a download option. I save all the episodes for posterity, but if Vimeo goes away, I'll need some way in which to watch it on my TV.

Nicholas Galiotti

Seeing a lot of downloaders (including myself), and just thought that if they want to curb bandwidth to reduce costs with Vimeo to keep it a viable option for those that like to stream from the app, they could just make a torrent for the videos for us to download. I would gladly seed for them and my fellow ants.

Shawn Sampson

So Amazing So better Vimeo i watch full screen on tablet.

Lee Rogers

This is just as good as Vimeo, easier even. And if it saves a shit ton of money fuck Vimeo. You guys deserve all the profit for your many productions.

Baron Von Susscabus

Completely destroys the video side of the TESD Patreon for me. I download every video from Vimeo and put it onto my PC (Plex server) so I can watch on my TV. Without a download option, I won't watch the videos. I have been a Fire Ant since Day 1, the announcement of the Patreon, but this would be awful for people like me. An enormous amount of people download these videos so they can watch them on whatever platform they prefer, specifically on their TV's, and Vimeo allows that by offering downloads. This new Patreon in-page viewer does not. The loss of the video side for me would definitely make me rethink my subscription.

Chris Catterall

This isn't an option for me as I can't download or cast to my TV...

Fat'n'Moody

Needs a download option guys

Teapott

Pretty standard video player, I'd have no problems with it going forward as I know Viemo are really throttling people who use the platform as of late. That being said I am one of (seemingly) many who like to download the videos and watch them on TV. I understand why Patreon might not want that but for me it means as long as Vimeo or a way of downloading the video on an alternative platform is available that will be my preference.

Scott Wilcox

Like a lot of people I prefer to watch on TV so this is not ideal.

Ryan M

I like it! I can load Patreon on my iPad and then AirPlay it to my Apple TV. Works perfectly!

ThatGeekEvan

I agree. I like to download and hold on to these for easier access. I like to download them, put them in itunes and add them to the individual show albums

David Svoboda

Already been said, but I'm also in the 'it needs a download feature' camp.

Allan Bentz

It plays a lot better on my phone than vimeo does, and I hope they add a download and possibly a cast feature down the line. If it's not an inconvenience to yall I would recommend uploading both so overly passionate TV streamers like Baron Von Susscabus and phone streamers can all be happy in the colony.

Robert Ohler

I like to have the option to download the video, but that's probably just me. Works fine, has more options for playback.

Steven Farwell

No issues at all, plus it works better for me :-).

Christopher L Stewart

Had Chrome crash the first time I loaded the video( Windows 10/Google Chrome), reloaded Chrome and it worked perfectly multiple times after that. Couldn't replicate the problem.

Baron Von Susscabus

If you click on the Vimeo logo on the bottom right of the video while it's playing on Patreon it takes you to it on the Vimeo page itself. Once you're there you'll see a "Download" button in the bottom right of the screen.

Wendell Wested

This is great ! One app less storage space lol

Bconway87

Thanks for posting the Vimeo opinion as well. I stream to my tv with the app. Great episode once again!!

Amy Lendvoy

Like a lot of people have mentioned, a download option would be nice (and a must for me). I live in a rural area with crappy internet and a low data cap, so I download at work, then cast to my TV to watch.

Jared Cronce

I had now issues with watching this, it worked like a charm. Also loved the magic, can Sunday saw Git’em in half next?

Nev

No problems whatsoever, works absolutely fine on Android Opera and Android Chrome as well as Win7 with Chrome. Another quality episode too, top work and top humour as always. 👍🏻🇬🇧

Gabriela Razo

The only issue I found was that after adjusting the volume if for whatever reason yo go forward or backwards on the video the volume level goes back to max volume. Great otherwise :)

Joe Soldezzo

I prefer to watch on an tv but this worked fine for me. I’m cool with whatever you guys end up choosing.

Argentina Arias

Saw it great in the phone! I couldn’t find it at first, but was able to see it full screen without issues. 🐜💜

DemmyD

A download option would be great, but also, on the iPad at least, if I pause it and leave it alone for a few mins it rewinds back to 0:00 and I lose my place

Rerun_64

This was the greatest episode of TANSJS. Good stuff. Player worked great. Magic was fantastical

Sheena Wingo

loved it!! Played perfectly.

Jason Kivell

This video worked great for me. With the Vimeo app I find that there are a few stops and starts through out the videos.

Dennis Ryan

Worked great, but would love a download option as well.

Andrew J. Caines

Video plays in a web browser, but access to and management of the video* on desktop, mobile, media player and other platforms is of course much easier when videos are hosted on a video hosting platform such as Vimeo. *[Adding to watch lists, favourites, pausing, resuming on the same or other platform, etc.]

Sean Barrett

Works well, but needs picture in picture pop out for mobile

Overman

Way better than vimeo! Now we just need every TESD episode on video.

Christopher Lucchese

I love the fact that you can skip a few seconds forward and back. It's really convenient for when someone mumbles or is laughed over. I do miss the download and watch later feature. This app pours through data if you're not on wifi and watching.

Nick Goldsmith

worked great for me and video quality is great allso. top quality episode too. Keep up the grind.

Walter Belleau

I thought this was a super fun episode! And with the new video style I can have it playing while I mess around on my phone and still watch it! Way better

Masaroth

2 problems for me. No option to cast to my TV which I could with Vimeo. And every time I click play it restarts the video from the very beginning instead of where it was last at.

Sean DeJean

Like others have said need a download option. Only watch the vids on my TV.

James roberts

"you picked the penny? You should have picked the half dollar" what showmanship from the master Sunday

Stephen Gris

Video seems to be loading in progress bar, but not actually playing - worth mentioning to the Patreon folks. I'm on Chrome on a Mac. Also, +1 for downloads!

Noah Rogers

Honestly they should do video of TESD episodes on youtube. Podcast videos on youtube have BLOWN UP this past year. Keep the special video projects on patreon, but just footage of them recording TESD would be great on youtube, would help attract new ants. (look at Sal and his youtube podcasts)

libertytech

Video quality was great on Android. I would love the option to cast the video to a tv.

Jonny

Worked well for me. The video played in full HD with no issues using Vivaldi web browser on desktop PC. Loved the episode!

Nick M

The Patreon player works well, and the quality is great! I just miss the traditional download option from Vimeo since I like to save them to my media server to play on my tv.

alex belling

It's working ok but I can't find a way to download it like I could with vimeo. That's a big deal to me. I know it's an added cost but being able to download it is very important, personally.

Kris Piil

no download option? its nice to watch on the big screen

TC

You could post these videos and then just supply a URL link to the Vimeo for downloading with the password.

Thomas Earnest

Worked well, could actually cast, but need be be able to download them to watch on the go. Would like to keep Vimeo for that purpose! Thanks

Ross Ward

It's still downloadable via third party options, but the preference would be to not have to go that way. I for one, enjoy collecting the videos and re-watching them at my leisure, without streaming.

Michael Coelho

no download, no value for me. hard pass.

Andrew Markiewicz

Streams well from a computer but really want to chromecast to my tv and Patreon doesn't support that :(

Muddythecat

Great episode. Worked perfectly!

Tacoma Trash

The quality is superb, but I'd prefer 70% less Git'em. Nah, I'm just joking! 30% less Git'em would be fine

Jess

I watch content on my phone so I found it was way easier to watch with this player. Vimeo always used to freeze when I watched and I had to close the app and restart the video. Plus I hated putting in the password.

Chad Williamsen

Jeff was great in this, really wanting a SJS desktop background with him in that top hat 😂

Steven Trout

I always stream to my TV. And there is no Chrome cast function.

Melinda Nankivell

Video played fine using my PC but I prefer to download and keep so I can watch later, and also I have kept all the Patreon videos so I can rewatch at my leisure.

Tealc Bratac

Works well. Although if you skip ahead, the sound will always go up to 100% even if you had it on a different level before

Karl Murray

I like using Vimeo as I can watch the episodes on my TV from the comfort of my sofa, I’d hate to have to watch them on my phone or computer. Hopefully Patreon have an app for smart TVs so I can continue doing this if this is the direction things are headed

Paulette Bibeau

Worked well. However I prefer using Vimeo so I can download the videos. If Patreon added an easy download function, that would be great.

Adam WallyHawk

Didn't load for me. Latest version of Mac OSX using Chrome v. 89

Noah Rogers

Video worked great for me!

Bajamin

First of all, GREAT episode. Loved it. I don’t download so not a problem for me. However a small issue, when the play bar goes away (in NOT full screen, and clicking play in the main TESD feed) and you tap the screen to bring it back up (to pause or rewind, whatever) it actually takes you to the PAGE of the post and the video is back at the beginning. But the audio is still going. So you have to tap “back” to go back to the main feed to continue watching the video. I hope that makes sense. Also the video and audio will continue to play even after locking my phone. On Bluetooth I locked my phone, the audio was still playing, then I paused from my Lock Screen to stop it, but 2 seconds later it would start playing audio again. Also the pause buttons from my blue tooth headset doesn’t work with the video. I don’t have this issue with any other app/program. And I use my Bluetooth headphones every day. iPhone 11.

Derek Dozier

I’m having a funny bug issue, while listening to Patreon Podcasts, when I pause Patreon from my headset & press play this Video starts playing on top of, additionally to the Podcast. I can make my own crossovers!

Michael J Curtis

Zero issues on an older iPad, seems to load faster, go to full screen and pause/start faster than the Vimeo.

Michael S. Miller

I tried on two different devices -- my android phone and my laptop using Chrome -- and got nothing at all. Just a blank white screen... :(

Devin Clancy

This needs a download option if it’s going to replace Vimeo.

Corey James

I've had a lot of problems using vimeo and this worked great had no issues. On Vimeo if I make it fullscreen on my phone a good portion of the image is cropped out also on Vimeo if I pause to watch later or try to rewind I often have the video restart from the beginning but I didn't have that problem here.

Sara Brown

Fuckin love sunday, "shit son first try, abra cadabra"

Dan C

FUCK YES! new Sunday Jeff Show. I needed this.

Chris Graves

Just The Ten Of Us & My Two Dads really didn't need a crossover 3 night event circa '88! Fin

Jake A

Patreon video player is fine. Vimeo is far superior for various reasons. Not the least of which is being able to rewind 5 seconds using the arrow key. On this player, it takes you back a full minute (On PC). Sometimes I need to rewind just 10 or 15 seconds to hear something I missed because I was laughing.

Robbie

The Patreon player allows to to go back 15 seconds. Not sure why it would ever be a full minute.

Robbie

The Patreon player worked perfectly for me. No issues at all (watched on iPhone). Great episode. I skipped through the part where Tom taught Sunday the tricks so I could see the act without any foreknowledge of the tricks. He did a pretty good job. I went back and watched the rest of the episode afterward. Great job guys :)

SteveFerg

There isn't an icon on the screen for me to "cast" the video onto my TV, which is how I typically enjoy watching the videos. But Vimeo allows it.

Derek Fleming

Great episode, I did have a couple issues with the patreon player though. It would be nice to be able to chromecast it, I wasn't able to do that. Also, downloading the episode is something that I really would miss. The player also froze up on me about 30 minutes in to the video. It is nice to just play right from the app though.

Jack Roiger

Will this replace Vimeo? I use Vimeo on my android tv to watch the videos.

j pee

Very much dislike being unable to download the video to watch it offline. Streaming needs reliable internet speed (to avoid drop outs and buffering), which I don't have. Suggest publishing both, Patreon video will serve many of your subscribers (and reduce traffic costs from vimeo) with Vimeo as the backup for people with worse technology or different preferences.

Daryl D

Works perfect!

joey cherrybon

Patreon player will not over ride other media that is being played on my phone. Not necessarily a problem, but is something that pretty much all other apps will do. If i have a song playing on spotify or a video playing on youtube, they will continue to play when i start the video

Justin Kyle

Please post on Vimeo. I was able to download videos to watch offline through the Vimeo app. Also if I wanted to watch on my TV I just had to type in the Vimeo link/password

Eric Cripe

My two cents, is that everytime I press play with my headphone button, the video starts playing instead of the podcast that I was playing. Both sometimes start playing together. Vimeo is nice and easy and I like the passwords being a line from the videos.

Ashly Richardet

This video worked great. I had a Bluetooth speaker set up and had no issues. Loved the show!

Nick Heppding

I think this is way better than having to input another password on a different website to view the content

Russell L Dow

Wasn't centered. Video was off to the left. Other than that great episode

Eric Londaits

I normally watch the TESD videos on my Apple TV through AirPlay. For some reason AirPlay fails when watching videos from inside the Patreon site (both Vimeo and this new system). With Vimeo I can click on the Vimeo logo, which opens the video in the Vimeo website where AirPlay works just fine... so unfortunately the new system forces me to watch on my small laptop screen. I'm a software developer. If the Patreon people need me to test something to make things work with Apple TV, just let me know... I'll be glad to help.

Eric Mason

Worked fine, but i would still like to be able to download the video. I don't always have an internet connection, and it's those times that I usually watch TESD videos

Evan Reynolds

Video worked very well :) Also loved to finally see the new digs. The magic will never fade

Brian Lively

Worked great but I still prefer Vimeo. With Vimeo I can hit the "Add to watch later" button and then watch it on TV using the Vimeo app for Roku/Fire/SmartTV/Whatever.

Brian Lively

Just make sure you're logged in on the browser and hit "Add to watch later". You can then watch it on the Vimeo TV app without having to put in the link or password again.

Matt Hodges

I'd like the ability to download the video for offline playback. Vimeo has a download option.

TJ

It worked well no problems here. I like not having to put in a password.

Emilio Oliveira

a few moments the video seemed to slow down a bit and then catch up, but all in all it was a good experience, I like it, and as someone else mentioned, is nice not to have to put a password. But, they need to support also TV platforms, then it will be complete.

Sean Barrett

Problem: if you’re already playing a podcast on patreon mobile, and you start the video, they both play at the same time.

Rich Lannen

It starts playing everytime I open the app and plays over other episodes im listening too. And if i press pause and then play on a different episode, the video starts playing too

Brett Bonner

No problems viewing but tell Walt to please wear his glasses for reading. It makes my head hurt watching him squint to read

Cody mastel

The great sundini bitch lmao... still the best thing on patreon good job guys

Jim

Worked well

Tristin Byers

Its so weird how long it took Patreon to do this but im glad it happened.

Bri-anonymous

Hi—I’ll find a way to watch no matter what, but if Patreon would make an AppleTV app it would be thar much better.

Nico C

Beta worked great for me

Jonathan McCowen

Great episode! I watched it on my XBox and the beta worked fine for me.

Darren Webb

Love you guys! The video worked perfectly. Other things I noticed. Either the table is too high or the chairs are too low. You look like a bunch of kids sitting at an adult picnic table LOL. Also the backdrops need help. But I know it’s early. It was really nice not to have to enter a password to watch the video. Worked perfectly and looks great!

Darren Webb

Love the pictures and visual aids. And the video editing is awesome!

Kevin Lawley

Great show as always guys! For player feedback: The controls didn't show up when I tried it on my kindle HD 10 so I had to force close the app to back out of the video. Thanks!

Matt S 90

More please this was awesome, loved it

Darren Webb

That was awesome! Walt and Bry are my jammmm

Zach chilton

I fucking love watching Walt react to Sunday Jeff do anything lmao!

Cranberry Electric

That bicep bulge! Sunday is putting Joe Rogan to shame!

Eleven Bravo

Working great, no issues on a Android phone.

derek evan

It's too easy to get them wrong because its hard to bother paying attention while focused on new Sunday Grind or something

John Vitale

The gotee really suits Walt.

Chris Vangeloff

I will pay 1 shiny penny to have the Great Sundini perform at my son's circumcision.

Harm's Way

The player works well, but not having the ability to download the video is a huge minus for me.

Frank Nixon

minute 37:34 the video pauses and will not play

Josh Worley

Love this player. If I could make one change it would be the ability to remember where the viewer left off. If I have to reopen Patreon it’s inconvenient to have to find where I left off every time. That’s just me nitpicking though. The new player is far better than the alternative.

Darknite39

PLEASE keep things as they are or otherwise allow us to easily download full-quality videos.

Kevin Behland

Same... sad there is no cast option. I think there is a work around to cast from your computer to the chrome cast. I'll have to figure that out.

Slade Nevin

Works great on my phone, no issues at all (using a Samsung Galaxy10). When attempting to play it on my PS4 it just goes to a White Screen and never loads.

Mr Peter James

Works perfectly on Xbox one, much better than vimeo

Red Vandall

Not a major issue but i noticed the player didnt take full audio focus the pod i was listening to kept playing when i hit play on the video

Kev

We can't download videos anymore? That's a big negative for me. I can't really watch otherwise.

Cameron

If possible still having the ability to download would be great. I put these on my private media server and watch on my TV via Plex.

Swiss Bobbings

Hilarious episode.. airplay cast to my tv was easy.

VikingJan

Worked fine on my medium range Android phone. I think SJ is almost ready to perform at children's parties, he just needs to stop swearing haha.

Jason Gott

I enjoyed the show a lot more with Git Em and Tom actually getting along instead of the awkward tension of the past few episodes. I just don't like it when mom and dad are fighting.

Cheri Larkin

Dumb question, but any chance this video will be posted later so it can be downloaded? Just wondering.

Robin maloney

Worked perfectly. And absolutely loved the episode hahaha

VanSlater

All this password talk and no talk about how Sunday Jeff could get pretty good at magic. Any magic nerd ants out there? Tom, let’s DM about card magic.

Katie

Tom & Sunday Jeff should put together a legit act and go on Fool Us

Cas

Man I lost it when Walt called Sunday a warlock! Gold.
