UPDATE NEWS: DECEMBER 10TH - WATCH ME DO A LIVE RECORDING REVERTING TO v3586 TO SHOW THAT THIS METHOD DID WORK! - VIDEO HEREUpdate should hit on December 9th (Some say it has been changed to December 10th) Either way it's best to start backing up your game files now.👉 Update - Added info at the bottom for Epic Games UsersHey everyone! It's that time of year again. When the big December GTA 5 update lands, it's going to break Script Hook V, which means all your favorite mods—the custom cars, ELS, and all those handy Trainers and plugins—will be unusable.

You have a short window to backup your current game files before the update hits! I can't stress this enough: do it now before you totally forget! This backup trick works for both Steam and Epic Games users (sorry to my friends on the Retail version, this won't work for you).

Stick around, because I'm also going to show you a new way to backup your LSPDFR to make sure everything stays perfectly in sync.IMPORTANT NOTE FOR EPIC GAMES USERS:Thank you to @Mordred Pendragon and Jon Jon Games for this informationGTAVLanguageSelect.exe & GTAVLauncher exe files will not be in your files to select. Don't worry about it, you only need GTA5.exe, GTA5_BE.exe and PlayGTAV.exe

Actually, there's a better way: you can download all the updates for the old and new games directly from Steam.

All versions of the game, old and new

Thanks for the video

Reading your comment was a bit unusual as I am use to reading a single post and not 3 spaced out by 1 minute. (you can edit your own post on Patreon if you like) I think what you were stating is that there is a better way to do this by downloading old or new updates from Steam. I am aware of that ability like Steam Depot and other External websites to get certain version numbers. However, to research which game version that would match that particular RageHook, Script Hook and LSPDFR is asking WAY too much on the user. So I disagree, that would not be a better way to backup your current working game version with RageHook, LSPDFR and ScriptHook all correctly working at this point in time.

I'm on rockstar. I have to disconnect the Internet before launching gta until everything is updated and I can update gta.

Hi, which folders are the most important? Can I just drag and drop some folders and make back up? On that way, will I make backup for all mods (plugins, roads, setup openiv mods, mods which are in main gta v) or just one part of it? Or it's just best way make backup of whole GTA V folder? Thanks bro, greetings from Slovenia!

BlueLine Vibes

Thanks for your comment. No reason to backup the rest of your mods. They will still work with the update. Only the files shown on the video would be advisable to backup.

Speedy

Oh lord the good old update lol its happens thanks for the update

Haze

Thanks for the tips, but why wouldnt that work on Rockstars Launcher? Appreciate you Mike

So EPIC player here. Checking out your video and following along I found all files except the following: GTAVLanguageSelect.exe & GTAVLauncher. These two are the only two that don't show up. Even did a search for them. Is this going to be a problem by chance?

Jon Jon Games

Epic Games version only has 3 exe files. You only need to back up GTA5.exe, GTA5_BE.exe and PlayGTAV.exe. Then when the update hits, you just replace the updated exe files with your backed up ones. make sure the auto-update is ticked off

Ryan Darmanin

thanks for video, handy to know!

Great Question: To be honest, I do not own the Retail Version (same as the Rockstar Launcher) and I do not have a great answer for that. I only can go by the thousands of comments for the past several years stating they can't do this method. Wish I had a better answer.

BlueLine Vibes

Thank you Mordred for the comment. Unfortunately I did not pick up GTA 5 on Epic Games (It was even free for about 10 days on Epic Games) a few years ago and I kick myself for not getting it for free back then. I would have loved to be more knowledgeable about the files included in the Epic Games version. As Jon Jon Games pointed out, I wouldn't worry about it, just go by the other exe files that you do have and you should be good. I have had several people state that this method does indeed work for Epic Games. Good Luck and be prepared!

After the update when I drag the backup files, will it replace the updated GTA with 3586?

LeKluck

Is this also relevant for rdr 2?

BlueLine Vibes

Doubt this would work for RDR2, but hey I guess it's worth a shot to follow a similar strategy with the exe files. Been a long time since I played RDR2. I am assuming you have modded the game?

Scott Smith

Cheers bud im glad i saw this video and did my backups. I will always keep this in mind for next time. Thank You

Hey Mike, I know you don’t not much, but do you have any tips for rockstar game launcher users? Thanks (Edit: should I just put all my mods into a folder and just buy gta on steam and transfer?)

BlueLine Vibes

You could do that. I know its like $14.99 on Steam right now and it is far easier to modify Steam and backup files and revert than Retail Rockstar game launcher

Jbosshart

Thanks Mike 🙏

Chris Daubert

So it won’t work if u bought it thru rockstar launcher?

BlueLine Vibes

Sorry Chris, not that I am aware of. I know many people that have tried but have been unsuccessful. If I hear anything different, I will make a post about it.

Jacob

A lot easier than I was expecting, thank you for the informative video.

BrettV

small question, you once showed in a video how to update the game's version between the mods folder and the default game. because my .exe shows game version 3411 but when you launch the game it thinks it's 2845 (it shows the version in the bottom right corner) which indeed has to do with the mods folder still being 2845 which makes that things like the police gauntlet etc.. and the stations for lspdfr Enhanced aren't working. i wonder if you still know which file exactly it is so i don't need to replace the whole thing and probably override some mods in order to make the mods folder recognize 3411 instead of 2845.

BlueLine Vibes

Hey there Brett. Since you have a lot of experience with the mods. I will reply with some advanced stuff here below. You might consider making a backup copy of your mods folder and save it to the side just encase. First make sure your game is updated to v3586 for example. With the new update coming out in a few days, it will be a different version of course. This will not influence your mods folder, but it would make sure you have the later DLCs in the update folder outside the mods folder. I would verify integrity of game files and allow it to download any updates etc. If you haven't already done so. Not sure if you have your entire update folder copied into your mods folder or not, but it's not 100% necessary to do so. The main DLC folders that you would need to grab from your pathway Outside mods folder at this pathway here. Grand Theft Auto V > Update > x64 > dlcpacks Personally I would make it easier and literally copy these DLC pack folders into your mods folder: mp2023_01 mp2023_02 mp2024_01 mp2024_02 mp2025_01 I wouldn't worry about the ones labeled as "g93c" for example mp2023_01_g9ec, no need to copy those. Once you have these copied into your mods folder mods\update\x64\dlcpacks Then add each of those DLC packs into your DLC list. mods\update\update.rpf\common\data\dlclist.meta Then test it out and see if your version numbers changes, bottom right, as you are logging into the game. As far as LSPDFR Enhanced not working correctly, try the above first. Then double check that you have installed the lspdfr folder that has your stations in there. That will end up in your lspdfr > data folder. Allow it to overwrite your old one that comes default with lspdfr. You will need to be on duty of course, then try and activate the LSDPFR Enhanced menu and you should be allowed to Start New Career etc. Let me know how it goes.

Scott Smith

WOW i am so so glad i did this week before the GTAV Update hit. Thank you for this awesome video helped me out so much.

Scott Smith

OK im about to do this gta 5 update i have here ready to do on steam i hope this goes well becouse after its done updating i be doing what you said so i can keep playing LSPDFR again till Scripthook and others get updated. Here we go lol

Turlz24

Now that lspdfr has been updated can we get a video on how to do that?

BrettV

the version number didn't change with those dlc's copied over unfortunately, i did get lspdfr enahnced to work on a clean fresh new build which also fixed the game using the correct game version (3411) for that build. personally i think it was SimpleCTRL causing the crashes with lspdfr enhanced, don't know for certain but with BVA i don't really need it anyway and everything is fine.

Timothy Walker

i paid for the 3.0 do you have to pay again for the 3.6
