Core Premise

During a surge of the Hunger Pulse, three heroines—Miranda Alverez, Kate Brightpaw, and Rayna Valehart—are pulled out of the physical world and projected into a pocket-dimension known as the Hunger Forest.The forest is a self-contained ecosystem where the Pulse manifests as living fauna—predators born from instinct alone. The women’s bodies appear fully physical, but they are constructs of Chakra and memory: they can bleed, fight, and even die here, yet return to reality carrying the sensations and scars of each encounter.

Their goal is to understand what the Pulse wants, and whether its cycles are natural, weaponized by Varanus, or evolving on their own. While they seek understanding, the overwhelming appetite of the forest itself seeks them as sustenance as the trio teams up to learn more about the hunger pulse while attempting to defend themselves from ever more powerful growing predators who seek to devour them.

Core Premise

After the strange events of Issue 1, Kate Brightpaw wakes unhurt but haunted by the feeling of being part of something larger than herself—a link between science, instinct, and the Hunger Pulse. She can’t stop thinking about Butch, the hybrid creature born from failed Bear-Hound experiments. Once a weapon project, he was meant to be incinerated; instead, he hid near the edge of the neighborhood, drawn to Kate’s presence.

Kate visits Ethan, the scientist who worked on Butch’s genome and one of the few people who understands the experiment’s scope. Ethan wants to observe how residual Hunger-Pulse energy still connects them. A quiet dinner becomes an intimate feast from under the table as Butch re-unites with his favorite meal.
