So as you all know I like to deliver at least 2-3 posts a week and this week I haven't been able to do that. I'm sure it hasn't escaped the attention of most of you that there's a massive heatwave in Europe. It should just about have come to an end, and next week it's perfectly workable temperatures again.

My house gets incredibly warm because it's a modern building that's made to keep heat in for energy efficiency, not keep heat out. This means that today I hit an interior temperature of 33 degrees and short of sitting directly in my fan, I was melting. I'm gonna install air conditioning in preparation for next year's summer.

The problem with rendering in an incredibly hot environment like this is also that my workstations are already running hotter too. And then there's the heat that the PC puts out. I'm confident that with my rendering rig fully pumping out shots I would've hit an interior temperature of 35 degrees, which would've been just two short of what it was outside. Not acceptable.

So that's why I've been slow to deliver new posts! But of course the moment working conditions normalise again I'm gonna go back to churning out renders. Stay tuned!

Definitely invest in air conditioning! We don’t want those rendering pcs to melt down or you for that matter…..

Wait, you sit in Europe? My man, you usually post around at 3 in the morning. What the hell is your sleep schedule? :P

I always thought you were on the west coast of USA due to the time you would post, but that’s shows assumptions aren’t always right. But I can concur with the heatwave statement I’m in the UK and it’s been record breaking temps here.

All those I'm a member of are saying the same thing. Things must be miserable. I pray you get some relief soon.

Wake up around noon, go to bed right after I post haha. Usually I spend the first part of the day setting up poses and camera angles and lighting, and then the second part of the day I spend rendering/re-rendering. The posts go up usually about 20-30 mins after I've got everything done.

I think I've mentioned a few times before that I'm in the Netherlands haha.

As an American, I can’t imagine life without air conditioning. I once told a car dealer I didn’t want any of the options on my first car, and he asked if I wanted air conditioning. I said “That’s not an option.” Please get your home up to the last century before you get heatstroke.

My home was built in 2009 :P It's exceedingly modern, which is part of the issue. We never used to have summers like this, so our idea of modernising housing was to build them for energy retention. Keep heat from escaping. That's the basis of our entire energy label system. Unfortunately for a few weeks per year now, that's a curse and not a blessing. So it's not so much about getting the house up to the last century, because last century we'd get 25 degree summers and we'd think it was a lot. It's about getting the house up to this century, because the century it was built for wasn't the one we ended up getting.

I’m not giving up on flying houses for the 21st century. I’ve seen The Jetsons! It’s coming!
