I love it when a cover brings something new to the music and makes me hear the original song differently. Thank you. Also, three whole days off? Calm down, Bacchus! JK- take longer, look after yourself, you're the hardest working VA I know 😊🥰

Look at you taking time off 😉. Well, I happen to know it was May 9th that Billie recorded it (I forget which year, but late 30's) I only know this factoid because May 9th is my birthday 🤓. I enjoyed this version, they really went for it with the horns and a great bluesy voice too. 💙

What an interesting song. It starts off with chill jazz vibes, like the soundtrack of The Hustler, then livens things up half way through with those hot brass notes, similar to Copeland's Mambo from West Side Story, all while staying true to the richness of Billie Holiday's original 1940s version*. (Fun side note, both of those films were released in 1961.) Pretty wild. Glad to hear a very well deserved long weekend was enjoyed at the lake. Hope more are in store. Looking forward to the next crazy tune. *Looks to be written in 1939, recorded in 1941 and released in 1946, if google can be trusted.

Love this song, and BS&T's version brings back some bluesy, psychedelic memories...
