OMG YES!!! LETS GOOOO!!! Been so excited for this ep.

Debbie

I hope you guys read these comments lol. SO some things you missed..... When mark and gemma were donating blood, the camera goes over to the machine and you can clearly see the Lumon blood drop symbol on the machine so Lumon was behind the blood drive..... in the fertility clinic scene the idiot who is torturing gemma walked past them so he/Lumon was also involved in the fertility process. When gemma was filling out paperwork at hers and marks home you can see the card that Dylan stole from O&D, so obviously they reinforced how Lumon was behind everything with Mark and Gemma. And Gemma is NOT left handed. They showed Gemma filling out the questionnaires at home and at the fertility clinic where she was clearly using her right hand as her dominant hand. The reason she was using her left hand was cuz either they forced her to, or cuz her right hand hurt too much to continue writing. If you remember the scene where mark told Gemma to "bend over' so he could inject her, he said "you hate writing thank you cards" so they are making Gemma do all sorts of things she and many others hate to do cuz they are trying to perfect the chip so that people can go through life and sever themselves when they are to do things that they hate doing (i.e. child birth) The only thing nobody knows is WHY is Gemma there? did they kidnap her? did she go willingly? we'll hopefully find out next season.

Yes Gemma on the floor is not severed. Each room she enters she is severed into a different innie. So each room she enters it’s a different version of her innie. And the names on each door is the name of files they have already completed. Mark is the only one working on cold harbor and him and Gemma are the important ones. We don’t know why though. They are doing anything they can to keep mark happy and working, they know if his team wasn’t there he wouldn’t work and wouldn’t complete the file like Steven said.

And If u didn’t catch it everywhere they were at in the flashback was owned by lumon. Where they met giving blood (there was lumon logos on the blood bag) at the drs office (and dr Maurer walked by them in the drs office. So it’s evident for some reason lumon was already watching them or thought they were both good candidates for cold harbor for some reason.

This wonderful episode was directed by the show's talented cinematographer Jessica Le Gagne' who is up for an emmy nomination this year for directing it. This episode also re-enforced what monsters (including Helena and Milchick) that Lumon are.

This was an absolutely tragic episode, but also just beautifully made.

Gemma seems like such a nice and reasonable person, I do not think she would fake her own death. Yes they were going through a rough patch in their marriage, but it wasn’t like screaming and fighting all the time. And if it did get that bad I think she would just file for divorce. It’s more likely Lumon is just doing another super shady thing. Remember Devon told innie Mark at the party “Lumon has its hands in many pies.” Also, Reghabi needs some serious work on her communication skills!

So glad to be on this journey with y'all. This show got 27 Emmy nominations this year. You definitely picked a good one. Keep up the good work.

Robby Benson was in this? This is a name from many decades ago

I think there's so much about this episode that is heartbreaking. After the miscarriages and IVF that didn't work, Mark is just devastated and him breaking the crib apart shows how emotional it was making him. Gemma sitting on the steps listening. He was feeling helpless. They're both grieving. And the song I'll be seeing you is playing when he tapes her picture back together in season 1, when he's breaking apart the crib in this episode, and what she was listening to when the creepy doctor came into her room

Mark wasn't building a crib in that scene towards the end. He was taking it apart because they decided to give stop trying for the baby. That's why he was ripping it apart and throwing stuff around.

This is, IMO, one of the best episodes of television, ever. It was the directorial debut of the show's cinematographer, Jessica Lee Gagné and even though she is up against other great shows like Andor (and even itself, as Ben Stiller is also nominated for an episode!), she absolutely deserves to win the Emmy for best directing! BTW, fun fact: the shot where the camera goes from the Severed Floor, down along the cables, to the Testing Floor, was almost all practical and was a project by a small team, including Jessica. As it was technically a side project, they had to do it whenever they had time from shooting the rest of the season.

you are correct. Lumon is experimenting with "severed spaces" planes, doctor's offices, gyms etc where people can let their innies do the stuff they don't want to do and reap the benefits of the innie's work. The big reveal in this one for me is the watchers under the severed floor watching the innies. Moving at incredible speed which tells me this is a time/shift thing to this plot. One sec we're looking at it in real time; the next slowed way down to where we can perceive it. I think they are operating on a different time plane than ours. Like little microprocessors.

I don't think they are trying to make Gemma forget about Mark, I think they are testing the chip under severe circumstances that normal people would definitely remember (Mouth pain from 2 hours at the dentist, hand pain from writing hundreds of thank you cards with your off hand, possibly having a relationship with the guy her outtie sees every day) just to see how far they can push someone that is severed before they remember something on their own. Then the final test was to put a husband and wife face to face in person and see if they recognize each other. The real question is why?

Julien

Most viewers don't catch most of this stuff on first watch. They read it on reddit and then later pretend that they are smart and reactors are dumb. It's really irritating.

Regarding Innies being virgins: just because memories were severed doesn't mean skills were severed too. If that were the case, they would basically be babies at the start, unable to talk, use a computer or do anything they learned in their outtie lives. They knew exactly what to do in that "tent." The reason Mark and Helly are able to flirt and fuck like adults is the same reason Innies Irv can drive and is the same reason Innies don't have to learn to use a computer or a copy machine or an elevator or use silverware or.... you get the point. The Innies are not a blank slate. When Helly first woke up, she asked Mark if she was being grown as cattle for food. That concept is obviously one that arises from a life of experience, even without memory. She is basically an adult woman with amnesia. Memories =/= skills.

This is absolute perfection: the acting, the directing, the cinematography, the music, the writing. Heartbreaking episode. Great reaction guys, can't wait for the season finale.
