I cant wait but I am a little disappointed we are only getting one episode but I think it will make people stay engaged with weekly release over a longer period.

I absolutely was blown away with the revelation of Pennywise not being limited to normal space time flow. For the longest time I was trying to figure how the seasons going back in time would work and it is brilliant. The best part is by introducing this element which is not a book thing you now open up the possibility of having a sequel to the IT Chapter 2 timeline. My way too early prediction is depending on the level of interest with the third season will determine how the show ends. I think two ending will be shot. One will have Pennywise losing if the interest falls off and nothing changes that was established in It Chapter 2. If the interest is maintained or increases Pennywise will win destroying the timeline we saw established in It Chapter 2. With him winning a sequel set beyond the 2016 timeline will be possible. My best guess/theory as to how they go after Pennywise if he is not limited to linear time is by getting help from Maturin. I know these comments aren't designed for requests or recommendations but since you have stated watching Doctor Sleep is on the future watchlist my suggestion isn't techinically violating the request rule. Which my suggestion is watch The Director's Cut of Doctor Sleep. It is 30 mins longer which is evenly split between new scenes & extended one. In both cases it enhances understanding of the lore & is extremely relevant to It Welcome Derry. Plus who doesn't love more Mike Flanagan storytelling.

In case you didn't realize it, maybe you did, but the 1988 Ingrid Kersh was the old lady in the 2nd movie that lived in Beverly's old house and turned into the monster. Maybe she was dead by then and Pennywise was just taking her form. By the way, I guess the actress (Joan Gregson) passed away recently and this was her last role. RIP.

Also, a small callback to the movies was mentioning the sheep farm. If you remember in the movie, Mike Hanlon as a kid couldn't kill the sheep with the bolt gun so his grandfather (Leroy Hanlon) had to do it for him. Mike lives with Leroy after his father (Will Hanlon) and his mother die in the fire. Nice little easter egg that came full circle and ties the sheep farm back in to the storyline.

please give Dreamcatcher (2003) a watch, I think you'll like it!

IT: Welcome to Derry has a three-season plan, with each season exploring a different pivotal 27-year cycle of Pennywise's appearances in Derry, moving backward in time from 1962 (Season 1) to the 1935 (Season 2) and then to 1908 (Season 3), revealing more of the creature's origins and the town's dark history.

Excuse my "french" but HOLY SHIT! That finale was cinematic! The action, the special effects, the acting, the story.......that should have been on the big screen honestly! I wasn't really 100% sold on this show at first(and I read the novel and loved the movies) and it did lag at times, but that finale blew me away. Incredibly well written & executed IMO. And Skarsgard....man.

N&S - Now you guys HAVE TO react to "Doctor Sleep". Or a bunch of us are just hoping you do, lol. Not telling you what you "have to do" but let's go down this rabbit hole please....please. Please.

MadIcelander

Don’t disagree but considering all the connections, I feel they should definitely do The Shining(since Steven hasn’t seen it) and Doctor Sleep before any other Stephen King adaptation. They just got some really bad advice a long time ago with The Mist, lol.

MadIcelander

Actually, I stand corrected. Forgot that Steven hasn’t seen The Shining. We hope you do react to it. I won’t give away who, but talk about incredible acting in that movie.
